4. Procedures
4.1 Introductory Activity The teacher will begin the lesson by introducing the song "Quadrilaterals".
5 minutes She will show the lyrics of the song and sing it to the class.
First the teachers will perform the song and dance after, students will also perform.
I.
There's a shape, there's a shape
that has 4 sides
Ohhhh....
It is called Quadrilaterals,
turn around and let's have fun!
II.
Did you know, did you know
It has different (def-rent) types?
Ohhhh.....
Take a break, and we'll let you see
What they are, count 123

The Quadrilaterals!
(Repeat part I, II, III and IV)
The Quadrilaterals
After singing, all props will be displayed on the board.
4.2 Activity (MAKING A TANGRAM OF QUADRILATERALS)/ (PUZZLE) and Creating own Quadrilaterals
15 minutes The teacher will group the students into 4 groups. Give the quadrilateral shapes and puzzle
them. The group that solves the puzzle first is the winner and will receive a prize.
For the next activity, the teacher will distribute a straw to the remaining groups. Their task
is to confirm the figures displayed on the board. The group that conforms first will also
receive a prize.
Quadrilaterals can be subdivided into other groups based on the properties of the
quadrilaterals. And the main subdivision of quadrilaterals is between concave
quadrilaterals and convex quadrilaterals. Concave quadrilaterals are four sided polygons
that have one interior angle that exceeds 180 degrees. Convex quadrilateral is a four-sided
polygon that has interior angles that measure less than 180 degrees each. Convex
quadrilaterals can be classified into several subcategories based on their sides and angles:
What shape is this?
Answer: Square
• A square is a type of quadrilateral that its opposite sides are parallel, all sides are equal
and each angle is a right angle.
Answer: Rectangle
• A rectangle is a type of quadrilateral that its opposite sides are parallel and equal, and
each angle is a right angle.
Answer: Parallelogram
• A parallelogram is a type of quadrilateral that its opposite sides are equal and parallel,
and its opposite angles are equal.
Answer: Trapezoid
• A trapezoid is a type of quadrilateral that there is only one pair of opposite sides that are
parallel.
What shape is this?
Answer: Rhombus
• A rhombus is a type of quadrilateral that its opposite sides are parallel and all sides are
equal.
3. It is a four-sided polygon that has four interior angles that each measure less than 180
degrees? - Convex Quadrilateral
4. What is square? - Is a type of quadrilateral that its opposite sides are parallel, all sides are
equal and each angle is a right angle.
5. What is a rectangle? - Is a type of quadrilateral that its opposite sides are parallel and
equal, and each angle is a right angle.
6. What is trapezoid? - Is a type of quadrilateral that There is only one pair of opposite
sides that are parallel.
7. What is parallelogram? - Is a type of quadrilateral that its opposite sides are equal and
parallel, and its opposite angles are equal.
8. What is rhombus? - Is a type of quadrilateral that its opposite sides are parallel and all
sides are equal.
4.5 Application
10 minutes The teacher will divide the class into three. Each group will choose a representative to pick
a piece of paper from the mystery box. The box has 3 rolled papers inside with numbers in
it.
The group who picked # 1 will be given a “chart quadrilateral” Their task is to identify what
type of quadrilateral is shown in the table and place the meaning of it which was written on
the strips of paper and place it beside the picture.
For group 2, their activity is called “Robot Quadrilateral” wherein the group will be given a
paper cut shapes and ask them to identify the types of quadrilaterals in it and form them
into a robot. After forming, they have to write the types of Quadrilaterals used in forming
the robot.
For the group who picked #3, their activity is called "Quadrilateral Tree" and their task is to
explain the concepts of quadrilaterals by writing it in the chart provided by the teacher.
4.6 Assessment Tests TYPE: Test
10 minutes
1. What do you call a quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides?
2. It is a quadrilateral with four congruent sides and four right
angles and they also have two sets of parallel sides.
3. It is a quadrilateral with one pair of opposite sides parallel.
4. Name two groups based on the properties of the quadrilaterals.
5.Explain what you have learned about quadrilaterals.
Answer:
1. Parallelogram
2. Square
3. Trapezoid
4. Convex quadrilaterals and concave quadrilaterals.
5. Quadrilateral is a polygon with four sides, four vertices and four
angles.
2. rectangle
3. parallelogram
4. rhombus
5. trapezoid
4.7 Assignment Preparing for the new In a one whole sheet of paper, draw a house and identity the
5 minutes lesson quadrilaterals that can be found in your drawing and label it.
Concluding Activity:
Quadrilaterals are polygons that has 4 sides. There are different
types of quadrilaterals and these are as follows:
4.8 Concluding Activity "Quadrilaterals are polygons that has 4 sides. "
5 minutes Ask:
How many types of quadrilaterals?
Answer: There are five types of quadrilaterals: square, rectangle, parallelogram, rhombus and
trapezoid
Ask students about the different types of quadrilaterals and let them draw their answer in
each question.
Ask: What quadrilateral that says its "I have 4 sides, two are longer and two are shorter. My
shape has four right angles"
Answer: Rectangle
Ask: What quadrilateral that says "I am a 4 sided polygon. Two of my sides are parallel and
two are not"
Answer: Trapezoid
Ask: What quadrilateral that says "I have two pair of parallel sides and I am named for my
parallel lines"
Answer: Parallelogram
Ask: What quadrilateral that says "I have 4 equal sides and 4 right angles"
Answer: Square
Ask: What quadrilateral that says "I have 4 equal sides but I don't have right angles "
Answer: Rhombus
5. Remarks
6. Reflections A quadrilateral is anything with four sides, even if the sides are unequal. Table top, book,
picture frame, door, baseball diamond, and so on are examples. Quadrilaterals come in a
variety of shapes and sizes, some of which are more difficult to come by in real life, such as
the trapezoid.
