Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of: Southeast Asian literature as
mirror to a shared heritage; coping strategies in processing textual information; strategies in
examining features of a listening and viewing material; structural analysis of words and
propaganda techniques; and grammatical signals for opinion- making, persuasion, and emphasis.

Performance Standard: The learner transfers learning by composing and delivering a persuasive
speech based on an informative essay featuring use of properly acknowledged information
sources, grammatical signals for opinion-making, persuasion, and emphasis, and appropriate
prosodic features, stance, and behavior.

I. Objectives:
A. Define parallel structure;
B. Display harmonious relationship through group activity;
C. Rewrite sentences to make them parallel in structure.

Laptop, PowerPoint presentation about parallel structure, Kahoot application,
cellphone, notebook, images showing parallel lines, balance scale beam, cut outs,
Tiktok music,

IV. Procedures:
1. Preliminary Activities

a. Prayer
b. Greetings
c. Checking of Attendance

2. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new lesson

1. The teacher will host the show “Today with Tine”, choose a student to be the
guest in the said show through randomizer.
2. The host will do a fast talk with the guest.
3. The series of words and pictures will present in fast talk are relevant with
parallel lines.
4. The teacher will define the meaning of parallel lines.

3. Establishing the purpose of the lesson
1. The teacher will present an activity using the Kahoot app.
2. Students will choose which one does not belong to a group by
Choosing from letters a-d.
4. Presenting examples/instances of the lessons
1. Present two sentences and ask the students which one is better in terms of
structure.
2. Ask for students’ idea about the sentences.

5. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills


1. The teacher will discuss the following:
a. The definition of parallel structure.
b. Ways to join parallel structures.

6. Developing mastery (leads to formative assessment)


1. The teacher will present the activity “Parallelism Pantry”
2. The students will choose between “Kumuha ayon sa Pangangailangan” or
Kumuha ayon sa Kakayahan”.
A. “Kumuha ayon sa Pangangailangan” students will correct the faulty
parallelism by supplying its missing word/clause.
B. “Kumuha ayon sa Kakayahan”, students will choose a sentence to
explain if the sentence is parallel or not.

7. Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living

The class will be grouped into three present the different group activities.
Group 1: Describe the pictures given using parallelism.
Group 2: Have a simple conversation using parallelism.
Group 3: Write a short poem in any topics using parallelism.
8. Making generalization and abstraction about the lesson

1. Just like parallelism, why do we need to build harmonious relationship with


others?

I. Rewrite the following sentence to make it parallel.

1. The store is good for fruit, meat, and to buy cheese.


2. Doctors say I should run, swim, and go walking.
3. The meal was tasty, quick, and the food was good for you.
4. In the rain I drove slowly, carefully, and watch out for other drivers.
5. The qualities I admire most in a man are honesty, courageous, and compassion.

II. Write five sentence in parallel structure.
