Company Profile

History

Emelia Hotel and Resort started in 2017 at Kawit, Medellin, Cebu. Emelia came from the
grandmother of the owner. That's where Emelia originates.

HOW TO GET THERE?

Exact location: Brgy. Kawit, Medellin, northern Cebu — approx. 2-3 hours away from Cebu City.

BY BUS: From the North Bus Terminal, look for one heading to Medelllin/Daanbantayan. Ride it
and ask the driver to drop you off at Emelia Resort and Hotel. The resort is on the route of the
bus so just tell the driver.

BY CAR: Navigate with Waze or Google Maps and set your destination to “Emelia Hotel and
Resort” in Medellin. Parking space is available upon arrival.

Employee’s Function and Responsibilities

Owner- Is an individual or corporate entities that own and operate one or more types of
hospitality accommodations.

Admin Marketing- Responsible for assisting the marketing operations of an organization,


promoting the company's goods and services to the public market, and increasing brand
popularity on digital media platforms.

Assistant Marketing- Who assists with ongoing marketing campaigns by collecting audience


feedback, creating graphs, charts, and slides to present to decision-makers, and conducting
market research to understand the target audience.

Front Desk- Responsible for greeting and welcoming guests, receiving and delivering all
incoming and outgoing mail and packages, answering all calls and directing as needed,
scheduling meetings, and coordinating office activities.

Housekeeping- Responsible for cleaning and reporting any safety hazards to the homeowner
or manager in charge. They must complete tasks like vacuuming, sweeping, emptying trash
cans, dusting shelves, cleaning windows, and mopping floors. Some Housekeepers change
linens, wash dishes, and do light ironing and laundry.

Head Cook- Oversee the daily process of running a kitchen and managing food preparation at
restaurants and other similar establishments. They direct kitchen staff and handle all food-
related issues, including checking up on food supplies, planning menus, and creating new
recipes.

Pool Attendant- Administers all activities in pool area and ensures compliance to all safety
rules and regulations and monitors all persons entering the pool area. Maintain proper social
distancing of guests in and around the pool area.

It was a fantastic honor to be a part of Emelia as an OJT, and it was great fun to be with such
wonderful people. I learnt a lot at Emelia, including how to clean a room, serve and greet
guests, do laundry, and even cook. As for the people surrounding me or the staff, I had a
great time with them; they never treated us like strangers and instead treated us like family.
The most memorable events from my OJT are dealing with guests who were furious, so me
and the staff had to explain and calm them down, and then I had to create certain foods with
the help of the chef, who taught me how to cook and I am very thankful to that.

Additional seminars and training have been added to the practicum program to make it more
hands-on for the students to learn more. My advice to students who will be starting their
practicum soon is to be ready to work hard and without reluctance.
