Reality tells about things that could happen in real life.

Fantasy tells about characters or events that could not really happen or it is a product of imagination
only.

III. Procedure
A. Preliminary Activity

a. Spelling
Spell the words with ei and ie.

b. Phonic Drill
Let us read the tongue twister with correct pronunciation.

FUZZY WUZZY
Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear.
Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair
Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn’t fuzzy, was he?

b. Review

Say: What are punctuation marks in writing that we discussed yesterday?

c. Checking of Homework

B. Developmental Activities

1.    Motivation
Show a toy of a cartoon character and let them name it.
Ask:   -Do you have favorite cartoon characters? Who are they?
         -Do you have a Favorite Movie/Television Artist? Who are they?
          -Do you believe in fairies?

2.    Unlocking Vocabulary


Let us familiarize the following words with the correct usage and its meaning.

swallow - to take into the stomach through mouth and throat
(Chew your food well before you swallow.)
absurd - extremely strange/weird
(It is absurd being taken by the UFO’s.)
wriggle - twist from side to side
(She managed to wriggle free from the jumping rope.)
jiggle - to move quick from up and down or side to side
(You must avoid to jiggle the camera.)

3. Presentation and Discussion

A.   Ask the pupils if they have already seen an old woman who swallowed a fly.
B.  Present the video clip to the class. Tell them that this song will tell them what happened to the old
woman who swallowed the fly.

Ask: What is the song on the video all about?
(Infusion of values about showing politeness at all times)
Ask: Do you have grandmothers or grandfathers at home? How do you treat them?

Have the pupils answer the questions from the song given.

1.What are the animals mentioned in the poem?


2. What did the old woman do?
3.Do you believe that there is such an old woman?
4. Do you believe that an old woman can swallow animals?
5.What can you say about this song?
Say: This morning we are going to find out what is reality and fantasy.

A. Let them read the sentences based on the song.

REALITY FANTASY

The spider catches the flies. The old woman swallowed a cat.
The bird eats the spider. The old woman swallowed a bird.

Say:
Let us analyze the sentences on the reality column.
Do these sentences tell that these could happen in real life?__________

How about the sentences on the fantasy column?


Do these sentences tell that these could not really happen or it is just a product of imagination?

B. Show real objects (FLOWERS)


Let the class tell something about the flowers
Let them read the sentences on the board.

Flowers beautify our surroundings.


Ask: Does it tell that this could happen in real life or a reality?
The flowers gracefully dance and sing as the wind swiftly moves them.
Ask: Does it tell that this could not really happen or a fantasy?

C. Show pictures (DOGS)

Let the class tell something about the picture


Let them read the sentences about dogs.

The white dog is guarding the house of its master.


Ask: Does it tell that this could happen in real life or a reality?

The dog can fly with its super power.


Ask: Does it tell that this is just a product of imagination or a fantasy?

Activity 1

Distinguish whether the sentence is reality or a fantasy


Paste the strip of sentences to its proper column.

REALITY FANTASY

The genie granted Antonio’s wish. The park is full of children.

The butterfly flew from flower to flower. Antonio now lives in the clouds.

They planted trees in the forest. She cried so much that her tears formed a
river.

Activity 2
GROUP WORK – (Differentiated Instruction)
(Setting standards for them to follow)

Group 1- Show a video of a poem about “GREEN CATERPILLAR”. Let them write 2
sentences about the video that tell about reality and fantasy.

Group 2- Show pictures of bunnies. Let them write 2 sentences about the picture that tells
about reality and fantasy.

Group 3- Let them draw and write 2 sentences that tell about reality and fantasy.
(Group presentation)

Activity 3 (Learner to Learner)

Pantomiming

 Tell your class to think of their fantasy dream. Call a volunteer to act it out and let the
class guess it and say in a complete sentence.
 Ask them again to think of their ambition. Ask someone to act it out. Let the class guess
it and answer in a complete sentence.

5. Generalization

Ask: Based on the exercises given, what is reality? How about Fantasy
Let them read this on the board.

Reality tells about things that could happen in real life

Fantasy tells about characters or events that could not really happen or it is a product of
imagination only.

6. Application

CONTEST
Distinguish whether the sentence is a reality of fantasy.
Prepare R and F cards and distribute them to the representative of each group. If they get the
answer correctly they will receive a point.

Say: I will read each sentence. Raise R card if the event or action is a Reality and raise
letter F if the event or action is a Fantasy.

1. Blankets should be cleaned after use.


2. Through the Internet, people can play games with each other. They can do much more.
3. When the man hit the pot, diamonds came out.
4. A woodcutter cuts wood in the forest.
5. Computers can cook our food.

IV. Evaluation
Distinguish whether the sentence is a reality or fantasy. Write your answers on the space
provided.

Write down (5) five sentences that tell about reality and (5) sentences for fantasy.
