B. Identify the type of variable. Write QnD and QnC if the variable is quantitative-discrete and
quantitative-continuous, respectively; while Ql if it is qualitative. After which, identify the level of
measurement.
1. IQ QnD- interval scale
2. Ethnicity Ql- nominal
3. Electric Bill QnC- ratio
4. Military Rank QnD- ordinal
5. Blood Type Ql- nomimal
6. Number of Coin Flips QnD-Ordinal
7. Detergent Brand QI-Nominal
8. Cabbage Yield in kg QnD-Ratio
9. Number of Votes QnD-Ordinal
10. Level in a Mobile Game QnC-Ordinal
C. The data below are the general weighted average (GWA) of 15 randomly selected PSU varsity and non-
varsity students for second semester of SY 2021-2022. Compute separately the mean, median and
mode, then compare the two groups based from these values.
Varsity Players 1.75 1.42 2.45 1.81 2.45 1.51 1.61 1.43
Non-varsity Players 3.01 1.18 2.89 2.15 1.97 2.85 2.56
Varsity players have a greater GWA with a mean of 1.80 than non-varsity players, who have a mean of
2.37.
Before you get the median, you have to re-arrange the sets too, from lowest to highest. Since the
median of the varsity players is even, we will have to add it and then divide it by two to get a median
(we will divide the sum of 1.61 and 1.75 to get the median, which is 1.68), and since the median of the
non-varsity players is an odd number, we’ll then just get the 2.56 as non-varsity players’ median.
The mode in varsity players is 2.45, because it appears twice in the data set, but there is no mode in
non-varsity players, because no one appeared twice in the data set.
