3 Lesson Plan On Waves
3 Lesson Plan On Waves
3 Lesson Plan On Waves
IN SCIENCE 7
MARCH 14 , 2022
I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
A. infer that waves carry energy;
B. differentiate transverse from longitudinal waves, and mechanical from
electromagnetic waves;
C. infer that energy, like light and sound, travel through waves; and
D. relate the characteristics of waves.
II. TOPIC: Unit 12: Waves
12.1 Wave as a Carrier of Energy
12.2 Types of Waves
12.3 Speed of a Wave
III. PROCEDURE
a. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES
MOTIVATION AND RECALL
PRELIMINARY ACTIVITY:
b. PRESENTATION
12.1 Wave as a Carrier of Energy
1. Discuss what are waves and how they occur. Use slides 3 to 5 of the presentation
file to facilitate the discussion. What are waves?
2. Discuss how waves transfer energy. Use slides 7 to 9 of the presentation file to
facilitate the discussion. How does a wave transfer energy?
3. Discuss that waves are caused by any vibrating disturbance. Use slides 9 to 11 of
the presentation file. Where do waves come from?
8. Discuss the different properties of waves. What are the different properties of waves?
How can we define these properties? Use slides 4 to 8 of the presentation file to
facilitate the discussion.
9. Discuss period and frequency. What is period? How is it related to frequency? How
do we calculate period and frequency? Use slide 9 of the presentation file to facilitate
the discussion.
10. Introduce what a wave speed is. What is wave speed? How can you get the value of
the wave speed? Use slides 10 to 14 of the presentation file to facilitate the
discussion.
Divide the room into two sides and designate sides as “True” and “False”. Ask
students to go to the side which corresponds to their answer. After each question,
mention the correct answer. A representative from the correct side should explain
their answers and a representative from the wrong side should repeat their
explanations.
a. Waves can transfer matter. false
b. A water ripple is a wave. true
c. Waves are caused by vibration. true
d. In a rope wave, particles have left-right motion. false
e. Waves may require medium to propagate. True
FINAL ACTIVITY:
Answer Me!
In this activity, the students will be asked to solve problems about wave speed
Procedure:
“What is the fastest particle in the universe?” Students can answer the question by
answering the problem corresponding to a specific letter.
LETTER V F Wavelength
m/s (Hz) m
H 25 6.0
O 9.0 34
T 16 18.0
O 5 10
P 6.0 0.2
N 8 33
The primary question can be answered by writing the corresponding letter above
the answer.

EVALUATION
Read and analyze the following statements given. Write yes if the statement infer that energy is carried by
a wave. Otherwise, write no.
A coin thrown in a well creates circular ripples in the water’s surface. yes
Sunlight heats up a concrete pavement after an hour. yes
A plant slightly moves after a string tied to it is twitched up and down. yes
The loud music from your neighbor’s house makes the wall vibrates. yes
A student raises her hand back and forth to greet a classmate on the other side of the street. No
