4 Lesson Plan Oral Communication
I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the session, the students can:
a. Identify the three functions of communication;
b. Deliver the speech according to its purpose; and
c. Value the significance of having sources of speeches.
III. PROCEDURE
a. Motivation
The teacher will play a video clip to the class. The video talks about speech that
informs,
persuades and entertains.
The students will take note information from the video presented for the next activity.
With the same group, students will analyze and brainstorm on the video clip presented.
The students will present the details of the initial speech on the video clip presented.
They need to determine the parts of speech on the video clip: introduction, body and
conclusion.
The students may use graphic organizer in presenting their final output.
The students will be given ten minutes to do the task and group presentation will
follow.
c. Analysis
The teacher will then ask the following questions to the students:
1. What have you observed with the video clip presented?
2. Were you able to identify the purpose of speech on the video clip presented?
3. What are the factors you need to consider when delivering a speech?
4. How can you improve the speech presentation from the video clip?
5. What do you think is the function of speech manifested from the video clip?
d. Abstraction
The teacher will discuss the topic about the three functions of communication.
The students will identify the general purpose of the given speech excerpts.
They need to determine the specific purpose of each speech based on the ideas
presented.
The students will be given twenty minutes to do the task.
Each group will assign reporter to discuss the final output in the class.
After the allotted time, group presentation will follow.
f. Generalization
IV. EVALUATION
The teacher will let the students read the direction of the assignment.
Direction: Create a speech about 2019 Mid-Year National Elections and determine your purpose
for creating a speech. Organize the body of your speech by using an outline. (20 Points)
