TECHNICAL VISIT COOPLAN LTDA

Brenda Mariola Cruz Benavent Industrial

biotechnology
1. Introduction
Wastewater treatment incorporates physical, chemical and biological processes
which process and remove physical, chemical and biological contaminants. The
objective of the treatment is to produce reusable clean wastewater, as well as solid
waste or sludge also suitable for future use.
2. Objective
• Carry out a preliminary analysis of the situation of wastewater treatment at the
local level through a technical visit to the COOPLAN LTDA plant. To identify the
importance of the metabolic processes of the treatment.
3. Pre-Analysis Questions:
• How many plants are there at the national (Bolivia) and departmental (Santa
Cruz) levels?
A situation report establishes that, of 219 wastewater treatment plants inventoried
in Bolivia, 113 do not work properly, which means that only 30.5% of the
wastewater of the entire Bolivian population is treated properly adequate.
According to the Ministry of Environment and Water, in 2020, Bolivia has registered
59 EPSAs with regulatory monitoring that have one or more wastewater treatment
plants (WWTP) within their service provision area as shown below:

management
• What are the physical chemical parameters and sustainable indicators that are
analyzed in a Bolivian treatment plant?
According to the normative compendium on the quality of water for human
consumption in Bolivia, some requirements that must be analyzed are:
- Total dissolved solids
- Color, turbidity, odor
- pH
- Organic and inorganic compounds
- Microbiological organisms (total coliforms, escherichia coli, pseudomonas,
etc.)
- Conductivity and alkalinity
- Pesticides
- Chlorine
- Hydrocarbons
- BOD and COD
On the other hand, 5 performance indicators are proposed and developed that
are made up of indices and variables that reflect the performance on operation
and maintenance issues as presented below:
