Statement of purpose (SOP) for Advanced Diploma of Civil

Life without dreams is not worth living for. With a dream of becoming a civil construction designer and
making a little difference in the field of civil construction designing in India; I am excited to apply for
Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design at the Center of Excellence.

Personal and Family Introduction

I would like to introduce myself as Gurbaj Singh,(Passport No.T9473127) a citizen of India and
permanently living in Bhikhiwind (Punjab) India. I was born on 24/12/1998. I live in a nuclear family of
four members which includes my father Jaswant Singh, Mother Amrik Kaur, Brother Gursewak Singh and
me. My father is farmer. My mother is homemaker. My Father and capital finance bank will sponsor my
entire study in Australia. My family has a good disposable income along with fixed property.

Academic Background

I have been sincere in my study in my junior classes. I passed my 10th grade from S.G.H PUB.SCHOOL
Sultanwind securing a B GPA in 2018. I have successfully completed my senior secondary level (Grade
12) with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of B in 2020. I scored overall 59 in PTE, particularly
58 in Listening, 51 in Reading, 70 in Writing and 55 in Speaking.

Reason for choosing Australia

Australia is one of the most popular and preferred destinations for higher studies, particularly for South
Asian students. Australia’s performance in science, technology and innovation is above the world
standard. Research and innovations from Australia are making huge impacts all over the world. The
quality of education in Australia is way above the world standards. Likewise, Australia is a multicultural
country and it is a safe sophisticated and harmonious country. Graduates from Australia are very
successful in finding jobs and holding prominent positions. Similarly, the environment of Australia is
moderate and calm. It is the third most popular destination for international students which has 8 out of
100 top universities in the world and over 22,000 courses across 1,100 institutions. Moreover, the
Australian government has set up quality training and a framework that helps to strengthen the quality
assurance processes in education. The legislative framework called ESOS contains requirements and
standards of quality assurance to be fulfilled by education and training institutions offering courses to
their international students.

Other top education destinations like US, UK and Canada have lengthy visa application procedures.
Tuition and living cost in UK and USA seems to be more expensive while compared to Australia. The
climatic condition of Canada practically does not suit me. Australia is flexible in providing student visas
and PSW visas for international students which enrich students experience. Hence, Australia is my
preferred choice for my higher study.

Reason for not choosing to study in India

There are few Universities that provide similar courses with low tuition fees named as; LPU Jalandhar,
NMI Bangalore, PTU Jalandhar which provide similar diploma with smaller-tuition fees. They all provide
the four year Bachelor of the degree program in India in different specializations. I did not choose to
study over here because of the following reasons; while compared to advanced countries like Australia,
United States, the theory and practical approach is not blended so equally in our curriculum.

After graduation or completion of my degree here, I will be unable to get opportunities in the reputed
industries in other countries because of less practical knowledge.

While studying in a domestic environment (as there are no international students in our universities) I
will miss the multi-cultural environment.

I will miss international exposure and a globally highly recognized degree if I study here.

Employers and industries in India give more value to international Diploma holders rather than home
graduates.

Reason for choosing Center of Excellence

As per my course Advance Diploma of Civil Construction Design, I have researched on the internet for
the most affordable, career-oriented perfectly located institute. While browsing, I found the annual fee
of this course to be quite expensive. On my further research, I found the Center of Excellence to be
economical and career-oriented. It is one of the prestigious institutions of Australia recognized by
engineers in Australia. It consists of 100 students. In addition, Center of Excellence provides various
support and services such as welfare support, career support including high tech multimedia labs; high
qualified and recruited staff which helps students to achieve their career development and professional
aspiration through career education, guidance and information. This is a good institute which is located
in the heart of one of Australia’s fastest-growing economic regions and is globally recognized for its
research strengths and innovation in teaching. After knowing above all facts about it, I am confident that
I have chosen the right college which suits me and my genuine intention to pursue my higher education
in North Geelong campus, Australia. I believe that Center of Excellence will definitely help me to reach
my future goal through the desired course that I am going to study soon.

Why the course is relevant to me.

My passion and career goal both are aligned with the study of the civil construction design sector.
Besides this, my previous study is also linked to this subject. While studying my Higher Secondary
Examination Board in India, I studied Science with Physics and math’s in grade 11 and Physics along with
other subjects in grade 12. At the end of my grade 12, what I realized was that my interest was growing
towards construction design. As a result, now for my further study, I would like to go for a specialization
in civil construction design. I believe that if I choose my course based on my passion and interest at this
stage, I will never feel bored when I will start my professional career. Since center of excellence offers
advance diploma in civil construction design, it not only matches my interest but also the career field
which I am exactly looking for in the future. Thus, I believe that by choosing advance diploma in civil
construction design, I have made the right decision in my life for shaping my career.

My future plan after completion of the course

Everyone wants to be professionally qualified in his/her respective field of study and work. But only a
few happen to grave the opportunity and be laborious to claim the achievement. I believe that after
completion of the course I will be returning to my home country with quality academic and work
experiences to start my professional career in the Construction designing field. By earning a diploma, I
aim to challenge myself further by encountering experience that would not only enhance my education,
but also my professional development.

Reasons for returning back to India after completing my course

There are compelling reasons why I must return back to India after my study. First of all, I have a dream
big enough to bring me back to India. My dream is to work as a Construction designer and develop
myself in this field. The second factor which will bring me back is my family responsibilities. Since my
parents are getting old, I should be there to support and take care of them.

Third, there is a property reason which will urge me to bring myself back from anywhere in the world
when I complete my diploma. To be specific, my parents have a lot of fixed assets such as Shops,
buildings and agriculture land that my father and mother alone cannot take care of. I must be there to
take care of those valuable assets of my parents which will obviously make me return back to India.

My parents strongly believe that investment in education never goes waste and quality
education has always been their utmost priority. I, therefore, would like to ensure that my
parents are happily willing to invest in my stay and study in Australia.

My Understanding of Visa Sub-class 500

I am fully aware of the obligation under the student visa sub-class 500 under the simplified student Visa
Framework (SSVF). According to Australian Government, the new rules of student visa sub-class 500 is
categorized for a student visa under simplified student visa framework (SSVF) by the department of
immigration board of Protection since July 1, 2016.

My application must show evidence that I meet the Genuine Temporary Entrance (GTE) requirement for
a valid student visa.

I must submit a Confirmation of Enrollment (COE) for all intended courses before processing for a
student visa.

I must provide evidence of adequate health insurance. Health insurance can only be met by overseas
student health cover (OSHC).

I can study a registered full-time course in Australia as per the provision.

I need to inform my address before 7 days of joining any college or university.

I can generally stay in Australia until my course finishes.

I am allowed to work 40 hours per fortnight.

I need to maintain 80% attendance.

My visa will usually grant for two months longer than the duration of my Study.

Conclusion

In order to achieve my dream career of working as a civil construction designer in India, I believe my
diploma from the center of excellence will be a stepping stone for me. I have attached all of my financial,
academics and other essential documents along with this statement of purpose in order to receive
approval for a genuine temporary entrant to study in Advance Diploma in Civil Construction Design. If
any other document require please kindly give me chance to provide that too so that you gladly can
permit me as a student who is genuinely looking for a way to study in your esteemed institution with a
