Introduction
I am always inquisitive to study new things and keep myself abreast with latest trends in the
education industry and thus have carved a niche for myself. Having a strong family support my
father (Jayesh Kumar Vishnuprasad Joshi) is working as an Executive Civil Engineer in a
Government Sector, my mother (Sonalben Jayesh Kumar Joshi) is housewife my brother (Viral
Jayesh Kumar Joshi) is also working in civil construction department at a company named Shri
Sai Construction. Co. My parents have supported me for my education, and it is with their support
which has given me strength to take such a big decision to study abroad. My dream is to become
such a person where my parents feel proud of me and with my effort I can provide them better
standard of life. I am decisive to have a strong senior level career. Along with this the required
merit level will be achieved by attaining yet another post graduate in Master of Public Health
(Global Nutrition and Active Living) from Victoria University.
Education
I completed my schooling from Smt M.M. Mehta English Medium School, Palanpur. The school
indeed provides a perfect atmosphere for a student to gain Versatility by providing equilibrium
between academics and extracurricular activities from studies to games, the school provided me
with an all-round development and thus nurtured me by providing appropriate opportunity and
encouragement. Apart clearing my 12th HSC in 2012 with Science stream and further I completed
my bachelor’s in dental surgery in 2017 along with internship with first class from Darshan Dental
College, Udaipur at Rajasthan University of Health Science. As I had keen interest in the field of
Dentistry, so I opted for job as a Dentist at Implant Dental Art at Palanpur in district Banaskantha
in Gujarat from 5th March 2018 and I am working there till date. Being Dentist have taught me a
lot and have development an intensity to study Master of Public Health (Global Nutrition and
Active Living) for more depth career ahead. As I had keen interest in the field of dentistry, So I
opted for job as a Dentist at Implant Dental Art, Palanpur in district Banaskantha in Gujarat from
5th March 2018 till date. I am working as associate Dentist under guidance of Dr Nisarg Patel
(M.D.S) prosthodontist and implantologist. My duties were examining patients and diagnosing the
extent of dental diseases, disabilities. Moreover, Restoring the form and function of carious
fractured teeth, Root canal procedures. Apart from this educating patients on issues regarding
preventive maintenance of the mouth, teeth and gums as well as how dietary choices affect their
dental health, oral prophylaxis and cleaning procedures
Why Master of Public Health?
Now that I have a firm understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects in the field of
Dentistry, I feel that I am prepared to begin the next step of my professional development, which
is the pursuit of a master’s degree in Public Health (Global Nutrition and Active Living). The course
focuses on both global nutrition and active living in diverse communities, from both an Australian
and International perspective. Along with this I can also choose to specialize in one of the two
streams which is Global Public Health Nutrition and Public Health and Active Living. During my
bachelors in the field of dentistry, the subject included were public health, orthodontics,
periodontics, oral surgery and many more. While studying Public health in detail during my final
year, caught my attention more as I came to know that there has been a lacking the knowledge
among the populations in India that’s even the dietary choices are related to cause of several
diseases. Dentistry is my passion, but my country needs public health too. Being loyal to my
country. I feel public health is more required. As India has more rural areas and according survey
done in year2012, about 276 million people lived below poverty line which resulted in elevation
of malnutrition and diseases.
Moreover, there is no awareness in villages public health deals with health of people which is
basic necessity of India. I choose Master of Public Health ( Global Nutrition and Active living) which
complies of foundations of public health, Epidemiology global challenge- Non-communicable disease and
nutrition for Global Health. Taking a multidisciplinary approach to research, VU strives to develop
innovative research, teaching and engagement in its flagship areas of Sport, Health and Active Living;
Education, Lifelong Learning and Workforce Development; and Sustainable Industries and Livable Cities.
There is also a unit on “nutrition on emergencies” offered independently, which is aligned with
internationally recognized content. So, I feel that it is important to build upon my previous
training and education in a stimulating atmosphere full , about of diverse viewpoints and ideas.
Why Australia
According to me, Australia has many universities that are ranked in top 300 colleges. Also, it has
various course available for different field in Graduation as well as Post Graduation sectors too.
The country is very well organized and has a very healthy and motivating environment to study.
They have well equipped facilities that are open for students and are easy to reach. The people are
very helpful and kind. While studying in Australia, I will be motivated to work in a team, which
will help me to learn various skills, how to communicate effectively and intellectual abilities. The
Australian universities encourage students to take initiative and think of innovative and practical
solutions to the real-world problems. It is very safe and student friendly country that encourages
diversity. Also, university provide 2 years post training period after completion of my degree that
will be very helpful for me to gain experience. Last but not the least the Degree from Australia
will help me to gain good job opportunities after return back to my home country.
India has many reputed institutes, which are famous worldwide. However, I want to get experience
of studying with diverse people that come from all around the world to study. This would help me
brain storm, new ideas and expand my knowledge of public health. Studying abroad will help me
improve my personality, Inter personal skills and professional skills. I found that cost of living in
Australia was much cheaper and affordable. The reason for me to select Australia and not any
other countries was that some of the counties have extreme climatic conditions, few countries have
linguistic problems, and some have complicated admission process. Apart from this, In Canada
students who have done 10+2 education are only eligible for PG diploma courses that are offered
have limited recognition of less job perspectives. In addition, in U.K majority of master courses
duration is of 1 year and has less recognition in India. India concentrates more on theoretical and
there are comparatively less universities offering good education in my chosen field. So, I decided
my destination as Australia.
