MORIYAMA HOUSE
Located in Ohta-ku in the center of Tokyo

A housing project designed by Architect Ryue Nishizawa is comprising


of 'one-room mansions,' or exceedingly small studios for rent, and an
individual dwelling erected on the same property. The house reinvents
the traditional concept of the Japanese dwelling by distributing, on a
290 square meter plot, a group of independent volumes that include the
owner's dwelling and, temporarily, five rental apartments.
As a result a variety of house types came to be created:
Moriyama House is located in Ohta-ku, a triple-storied house; square house half buried below

The pathways that run between the structures are open to the
streets while also connecting to various structures. The goal was to
not notice the lines between what people considered to be private
and public property.

Elevating the rooms and placing them in the middle of other spaces,
