Management 1 of the Senior High School Students CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION
CONTEXT AND RATIONALE Fundamentals of Accountancy Business and
Management is one of the specialized subjects under the academic career track
and Accountancy Business and Management ABM learning strand
FABM 1 is an introductory course in accounting business and management data
analysis that will develop students appreciation of accounting as a language of
business and an understanding of basic accounting concepts and principles that
will help them analyze business transactions
The main goal of FABM according to Urquiza and Usabiaga 2015 is to help
students understand the fundamental accounting concepts and principles as well
as to develop the capability to perform the basic accounting functions the
recognition valuation measurement and recording of the most common business
transactions and the preparations of accounting statements
Learning professional subjects in accounting is not like reading a novel memorizing
or even like just mastering the accounting terms Mercado et al 2016
Students who chose ABM strand will be learning the Fundamentals of ABM I which
generally circulates in Identifying analyzing and recording business transactions
certainly why the subject is challenging in nature
As we the researchers are ABM students ourselves we find it hard to understand
the complexity of accounting
Some struggles working with the worksheet and there are still some who did not
understand the basic foundations of accounting which is important
While several foreign and local literatures existed in the context of basic accounting
none of these deals with the difficulties of ABM students in FABM 1
Just as some studies focused primarily on learning styles and lecturing issues of
the teachers but difficulties of students in every lesson on basic accounting
Fundamentals of ABM I were not indicated on these studies Bondoy et al 2020
In the view of this situation the main objective of the study is to determine the level
of difficulty encountered by ABM students in Isabel National Comprehensive School
in learning Fundamentals of ABM 1
Furthermore this study will consider identifying students coping strategies in
dealing with these difficulties
This study is intended to be used by students primarily the incoming ABM Senior
High School Students as preparation for taking a step forward into the business
world
CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK Accounting is the practice
of monitoring and documenting financial activity
principles of accounting are used by both individuals and companies to evaluate
their financial performance and health
In order to fulfill their tax obligations both individuals and businesses can benefit
from using accounting
Basic accounting is the practice of documenting a business039s financial
transactions
It entails reviewing summarizing and informing tax authorities regulatory bodies
and oversight organizations about these transactions
Basic accounting keeps track of cash flow and operations and reveals them
Every business transaction is split into credits and debits
A concept known as accounting theory employs hypotheses methods and
frameworks to study financial reporting
According to Hendriksen 1982 accounting theory is defined as logical reasoning in
the form of set of broad principles that provide a general frame of reference by
which accounting practice can be evaluated and guide the development of new
practices and procedures
Accounting theories basically provide a foundation for understanding financial
reporting and how businesses direct their financial statements using the best
strategies
The examination of current accounting procedures their historical development
and any alterations or additions made to them over time are all necessary for a
thorough understanding of accounting theory
Accurate financial reporting and statements are supported by these accounting
concepts
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM This study looks into the concept of facing the
difficulty that grade 12 senior high school students in their major subject
Fundamentals of Accountancy Business and Management and applying their own
learning style to survive the school year 1
What is the demographic profile of the students based on a age b
gender and c section 2
What is the level of difficulty of the students in learning FABM 1

SCOPE AND LIMITATION This study is about Level of Difficulty in Learning
Fundamentals of Accountancy Business and Management I of the Senior High
School Students
This study will focus in determining the reasons or factors affecting ABM Senior
High School Students039 interest of Learning Fundamentals of Accountancy
The respondents of this study will be all ABM students from Isabel National
Comprehensive School located at Marvel Isabel Leyte
All students from different sections of Grade 11 namely Bungalon and Brugiera
and all students from different sections of Grade 12 namely Pepper and Garlic
from SY 20222023
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY The underlying success of the paper will be
benefited to the following Parents
This research can assist parents in guiding their children to choose the right career
and path to take up
As this research continues the parents won039t have a difficulty to advise their
children and their studies Students
The results of this study will help the students make wise plans for the degree
programs they have chosen
Knowing the pupils039 skills and shortcomings can help them identify areas where
they may improve
School Administrators
This study will help the school administrators to know their students needs and
wants
The school administrators are the ones who are planning and administrating so
this will help them to make efficient and effective plans for the students
Business Industry
Having more prepared businessmen can increase the business productivity and a
lot of you were a Diaz and opportunities will foster and this will happen because of
the good foundation that the k to 12 programs provided
Future researchers
They can use this research as a reference for future study
They can also use it as a basis for their study
