Theory AC Analysis
Introduction to AC simulation
1. Learn about frequency variation analysis and simulation, these include AC
sources, AC analysis and their setup.
2. To run AC analysis, the circuit to be simulation has to have AC source. No AC analysis
can be done to a circuit without an AC sources connected to it.
3. AC analysis produces frequency response curve for a given circuit

AC source
1. An AC source generated sinusoidal waveforms at several frequencies but having
the same magnitude and phase
2. Attributes of an AC sources is as follows
 ACMAG: magnitude of the AC source
 ACPHASE: phase of the AC source

Filter Theory
The filter network dB gain is calculated from the actual voltage gain (Av) as follows: -
dB = 20log Av
the cutoff frequency (fc) on the gain-frequency plot is the frequency where the voltage gain
has dropped by dB )0.707) from the dB gain at mid frequency. The expected cutoff
frequency (fc) based in the circuit component values for the one-pole and two-pole low-
pass filter.

8 CONCLUSION
(10marks)

From this experiment, variation of frequency analysis and simulation is learned. These include
AC source, AC analysis and their setup. To run AC analysis, the circuit must have ac source.
AC analysis produces frequency response curve for a given circuit. AC source generates
sinusoidal waveform at several frequencies but having the same magnitude and phase.
Attributes of an AC source are ACMAG which is the magnitude of the ac source and
ACPHASE which is the phase of the ac source. Before simulating, the AC source need to be
setup first. This is done by editing the attributes of the ac source. The AC magnitude and
phase are prompted. Upon completing the circuit, the ac analysis is performed. In the setup for
ac analysis, the ac small signal features is activated and the setting of the sweep is change into
decade. Since these circuit reflected the low pass, high pass and amplifier circuit, the graph is
the frequency response for each filter. The filter network dB gain is calculated from the actual
the cutoff frequency (fc) on the gain-frequency plot is the frequency where the voltage gain
has dropped by three dB from the dB gain at mid frequency. The expected cutoff frequency
(fc) based in the circuit component values for the one-pole and two-pole low-pass filter.

The frequency bandwidth is the frequency range between two specified frequency cut-off points.
Many devices that communicate via electric signals, such as telephones, radios, televisions, and
satellites employ filter circuit. Filter is designed to pass signal with desired frequencirs and reject
or attenuates others. In this experiment, VSIN and VSRC are used as AC source in the analysis.
