 RATIONALE:
The industrial development in India has brought a great revolution in manufacturing of
automobiles. Vehicles with an aerodynamic shape use less fuel. Air flows easily over
them and less energy is needed to move them forward. The knowledge of Aerodynamics
is essential for vehicle body design and performance. The aims of this course is to
introduce the basic aspects of the Aerodynamic, Car body details, Wind tunnels, Vehicle
Handling and to familiarize the students in Vehicle Aerodynamics.

 COURSE OUTCOMES:
After completing this course students will be able to–
1. Apply the concepts of fluid mechanics to reduce the lift and drag forces.
2. Analyze the aerodynamic drag and lift.
3. Apply the knowledge for the shape optimization.
4. Develop the aerodynamic shape for modern vehicles.
5. Check and test the vehicle shapes in wind tunnel.
6. Calculate the aerodynamic forces and moments.
