5. CMC4 FAULTS

ThyssenKrupp
TKE Manufacturing Spain SUAT KAYNAK

60/157
5.- CMC4 faults
Fault 0: Failure in door sensors and
temporal blocking elements
(No permanent)

The car will remain in fault mode when any door

sensor remains activated more than 10 seconds,
or there is an incorrect sequence in the door
control elements, overload and immediate stop
(inverter).
When the defective signal sensor disappears the
controller will come back automatically to normal
mode and it will go back in service.

The possible problematic sensors are:

Door limit switches

Overload

ThyssenKrupp
Door photo-control
(Photocell or light curtain)

Door open pushbutton

Immediate stop (Inverter).

blocking elements (No permanent)

Immediate stop (VVVF inverter).

When the defective sensor disappears the controller will come back
automatically to normal mode and it will go back in service.

The considered sensors are:

Immediate stop (ISTOP)
Next trip not permitted (NOSTART)
Temperature sensors (Machine room/Control cabinet)

The STATUS LED in UCM (DL1, located close to reset button) is

prepared to indicate some faults with blinks.

Nr. blinks Description

1 Battery fault

ThyssenKrupp
2 24Vdc fault
4 Machine room temperature

TKE Manufacturing Spain SUAT KAYNAK

62/157
5.- CMC4 faults

Fault 1: Contactors fault (Permanent) *1

Once it has been solved, it is necessary to press RESET in UCM to come back to service.

• LC led is off before starts the motor movement. If this occurs the elevator will go to fault 1 (1S, 2S,
HD)

• If there is any contact activated when starting the lift, then fault 1 will be activated (LEDs UD SC)

• Contactors are tested 400 ms after the

disconnection order. If any contactor takes longer
than the indicated time  fault 1 (LEDs UD SC
LC normally OFF without movement). (1S, 2S,
HD)

• Connection fault in X16 or S1

• UCM board is damaged.

• Parameters programming is incorrect, if the

ThyssenKrupp
traction configuration is not correct then this fault
might appear.

• Remember: If there is a fault from inverter, then

we will receive Inmstop signal  Fault 0, not 1.
TKE Manufacturing Spain SUAT KAYNAK

63/157
5.- CMC4 faults
*2
Fault 2: Incorrect phases order, CMS/CMB activated at the same time
(Permanent)

Causes:
Phases are swapped, verify in
UBA board these status LEDs.

Both CMS and CMB are activated

at the same time, verify in UCM
board these status LEDs.

ThyssenKrupp
TKE Manufacturing Spain SUAT KAYNAK

64/157
5.- CMC4 faults

Fault 3: Inspection, recall, SR module

*3

Causes:
• Fault in SR module, or related
elements, detection via SA signal.
The activation sequence is not
correct.

• Lift in inspection or recall

operation, functional status or
failure in inspection box connection
on car top, fault in UCC, in reduced
Headroom/Pit there is a relay
controlling if landing door is
manually opened.

ThyssenKrupp
• Fault in main board or car board
(UCM or UCC).

TKE Manufacturing Spain SUAT KAYNAK

65/157
5.- CMC4 faults
Fault 4: (Not permanent) Opening of door safeties while moving
*4
Opening of cabin or landing door safety circuit while elevator is moving.

SERIES
40/ 41

• Check UBA board and the related status LEDs. * Check SR module if
pre-opening *

ThyssenKrupp
• Check doors selection jumper in UBA
• Bad quality connection in UBA <-> UCM connections
• Check the safety circuit
• Check door operator and its cam
• Fault in UCM board
TKE Manufacturing Spain SUAT KAYNAK

5.- CMC4 faults

Fault 5: Failure while door opening, or doors safety circuit (Not *5

permanent)
Series 40 o 41 do not open in the
defined times while there is an opening
order

• Failure in relays opening/closing

connected to UCC or PECA32.

• Failure in door operator set.

• Failure in UCM-UCC
communication.

• Failure in UCM board.

ThyssenKrupp
Check the status LEDs of the boards and the
Boards jumpers configuration

TKE Manufacturing Spain SUAT KAYNAK

67/157
5.- CMC4 faults
*6
Fault 6: Counting magnets error
(Not permanent)

This fault appears when elevator stops out of the

magnet either for bad counting or slippery.
In this case Fault 6 appears for 5 seconds, and then
elevator goes automatically to the bottom floor (re-
orientating process)

Possible reasons:
• Incorrect activation/deactivation of CMB or CMS,
or damaged UCC board.

• Incorrect magnets lecture, because:

• Incorrect deceleration distance
• One magnet is activated at the same time
as CMB-CMS or other magnets (>10 cm.)
• Incorrect position of inductor in relation with
magnets line on the guiderail.

ThyssenKrupp
• Defective inductor

• EMC noise for inductive reasons, like contactors,

motor, coils, reactance, etc.

•Incorrect magnets position programming

TKE Manufacturing Spain SUAT KAYNAK

68/157
5.- CMC4 faults

Fault 7: Failure while closing doors (Not permanent)

*7

Elevator is not able to close the doors safety

circuit while there is a door closing order from
controller, several tries are done before fault
appears.

• Check cabin and landing doors safety

circuit LEDs in UBA.

• Check the car doors.

• Check landing doors
¿Can they physically close?

• Check door operator and the orders from

ThyssenKrupp
UCC

• Check door selection jumpers in UBA

board

TKE Manufacturing Spain SUAT KAYNAK

69/157
5.- CMC4 faults

Fault 8: No magnets detected; *8

Communication failure; Not able to leave
floor; failure in leveling inductor
(Not permanent)

•Communication failure between UCM and UCC, either

because connection fault or damaged boards .
• There is no activity in inductor signals (FI FS), its correct
functionality is controlled in every moment.
It could be because inductor is damaged itself (it doesn’t
detects when going in/out of magnet) or because the car is
not moving while controller is generating movement orders
(traction fault).
• Check if the inductor is correct, checking the status LED in
UCC.
• LED_RUN and W2 connector in UCC.

ThyssenKrupp
TKE Manufacturing Spain SUAT KAYNAK

70/157
5.- CMC4 faults

In regulated traction lifts without preopening (magnet 40mm length)

could happen when speed control is not correct.

Notes:
• In general, the correct alignment of magnets has to be checked carefully,
according to the electrical drawing included in the documentation (with or
without preopening).

• Inductor functionality must be tested. Place a magnet in front of inductor

and check that LED is activated in UCM.

• In UCM board the inductors can be checked with LEDs FS (Top) y FI

(Bottom).
In case of 1 inductor installations, the inductor will activates only Led FI.

• Check inductor power supply: 24Vdc between connectors W2.1 & W2.2
in UCC.

• Check that there is voltage in the inductor output, W2 connector of UCC

board when magnet is in front of inductor.

ThyssenKrupp
TKE Manufacturing Spain SUAT KAYNAK

71/157
5.- CMC4 faults
*9
Fault 9: Program error; opening of primary safety circuit; power supply failure (Not
permanent)
The controller detects the primary safety circuit problem via UBA connectors; if this signal doesn’t arrives,
then the lift will stay blocked waiting for that signal.

When CMS is activated in HD lifts, it gets blocked until the safety circuit is back and a reset is made (ESH
signal).

If the fault appears, but the safety circuit is still ON, then it might be because UCM is damaged and/or
EEPROM parameters are incorrect. In both cases the board must be changed with BOMO or
reprogrammed with POME.

7.6.8. M8_Commissioning
If you have to configure the inverter, these are the most important parameters for that:

• P8.48  Select the controller, for CMC4 select CMC4.0

• P8.1  Select the machine, you have list with all the possible machines. To know if
the selection has been charged correctly, check the parameter V1.29.
• P8.14  Motor identification, select YES and move in inspection mode about 15 s.
The drive will stop automatically once it has completed the identification.
• P8.12 Encoder Angle identification, the inverter calculates the angle of the encoder.
Select YES and move in inspection mode about 2 s. The inverter will stop by itself.
After that check the parameter M8.13, the value must be different than 0.
If after that, the elevator doesn’t move, go to parameter P8.9, here you have to
change the option:
- If you have inverted  change to not inverted.
- If you have not inverted  change to inverted.
Now, repeat encoder angel identification.

** Adjusting parameters
• SPEEDS (m/s) and Des/Acceleration (m/s2)
– P8.29  Levelling speed.
– P8.30  Nominal speed.
– P8.31  Inspection speed.
– P8.32 Intermediate speed.
– P8.33  Acceleration.
– P8.34  Deceleration: P8.34  time to final stop  deceleration curve is smother
– P2.2.12.1  Final deceleration
• JERKS (s): P8.35 … P8.38
– S1, S2, S3 & S4: Increasing this time the speed transitions are smoothers.

** GAINS: adjust these parameters to avoid rollback, noises, vibrations …

• P8.23  Kp Initial, initial Gain for rollback. Initial gain for rollback, which acts for the
time defined in P8.21 and P8.22
• P8.25  Gain high rollback. It works during times defined in P8.21, P8.22 & P8.26.
• P8.39  Scaling of speed gains in the smooth start section with regard to Kp1
• P8.40  KP1, speed controller gain for low speed.
• P8.41  KP2, speed controller gain for high speed.

– P8.42  Ti1, integral time of the speed controller for low speed
– P8.43  Ti2, integral time of the speed controller for high speed
