INTRODUCTION

GENERAL

The EPROM4 system is last-generation microprocessor-based with high storage capability

(64 Kbytes) and several internal peripherals which ease the logic functions and the card
structure.
The basic card is designed to control systems up to 16 stops and is provided with inputs
and outputs with signalling LED.
With APB logic there is no need for expansion, with 1PE logic an external expansion is
added, with 2 PE logic two external call expansions are added.
The card features input and outputs, all with signal LED.
The card provides a total of 16 inputs/outputs for calls, 32 filtered inputs for system
signals, 9 relay outputs for travel and door controls, 16 protected outputs to control the
position indicator and other customisable devices.
The customisation of the programme according to system type is carried out by a clear
Two-line, 16-digit LCD display, displaying the car position, the door status and the general
system conditions, any potential alarm.
Moreover, a series of programming menus can be accessed, each devoted to a special
function of the system (general specifications, motor type and timers, door selection, etc.),
which will better explained in the following pages.
The serial interface allows to view and modify the parameters quickly by using a special
interface programme designed with EPROM4 card.

DUPLEX AND GROUP

Duplex and group systems are managed autonomously by cards connected by means of a
serial high-speed and disturbance-free CAN line.
There is no “master” system but all cards manage calls based on system position, taking
decisions which are immediately transmitted to the whole group to avoid anomalous
situations of double response or, even worse, no response to a call.

• Next to JP1 connector for outputs with negative common wire, which give a negative signal to V3F
inputs of speed selection.
• Behind the JP1 connector for outputs with positive common wire, giving a positive signal to V3F
inputs of speed selection.

MICRO-SWITCHES

1. SW3 Microswitches
MICROSWITCHES
• OFF: standard operation
• ON: software download
PR The software download is carried out at the plant by means of a PC programme.
It can be necessary for the user to repeat it in exceptional cases where there is the need to
update the application software on the card.
• OFF: watch-dog-timer disabled
• ON: watch-dog-timer enabled
WD The watch-dog-timer (WDT) carries out an external check on the proper operation of the
micro-controller by emitting a short reset signal to put the micro-controller back to operation.
This occurs only if the stopping condition was not caused by a failure, otherwise the
stopping is final.
During the programming the WDT must be disabled otherwise it would cause various reset
operations preventing the execution of the programming.
The WDT must be enabled only when the card is in standard operation condition.
• OFF: CAN terminator not connected
• ON: CAN terminator connected
CAN The CAN serial line must be “terminated” at the two ends by a 120 resistance (one at each
end).
As the CAN connection is used for outer cards and it is impossible to know how it will be
done, the two resistances of “termination” shall be connected only to the two cards at the
ends of the CAN connection.

INTRODUCTION
The LCD screen displays, in standard conditions, the system status by giving a brief troubleshooting which
may be further examined by accessing the relevant failure menu.
When the screen is on, it is displayed in the following mode, the only varying aspect relates the software
version installed.

* * I . G . V . * *
E P R O M - 4 S W . 0 0 0 5

This view lasts some seconds, then the standard display is shown stating the system status.

USE OF THE KEYBOARD

The keyboard below the screen is made of 4 buttons where either each of them, or a combination of, allows
to access all the card functions and the relevant programming.
The key function changes according to the section, therefore with reference to specifications of programming
or troubleshooting.

To make it simpler, we refer to button as , ↓, ESC and ENTER.

10. DATA STORAGE MENU

The data storage is the one storing perpetually (also during voltage failure) all the customised data of the
system (i.e. the parameters) and alarms recorded during the operation.
In this menu it is possible to display, delete and initialise these data.
When the parameters are displayed with default values (i.e. general values) the setting of the system must
be customised based on the installation.
After the initialisation it is not possible to recover the original factory setting, therefore the operation must be
carried out consciously.
Same consideration for the alarm recording: once set to zero they cannot be recovered any more.

• System status

By means of buttons Å and Æ you can see all the queuing alarms. During the displaying of an alarm, some
additional information can be obtained by keeping the button ENTER pressed:

• Number of alarm repetitions
• Number of associated travel at the last signalling

The card is addressed from “0” to “31” by means of micro-switch SW1.1 – SW1.5.

• OFF: standard operation

• ON: software download
PR The software download is carried out at the plant by means of a PC program.
It could be necessary for the user to repeat it in very few cases when it is necessary to
update the card software.
• OFF: watch-dog-timer deactivated
• ON: watch-dog-timer activated
WD The watch-dog-timer (WDT) carries out an outer check of the proper operation of the micro-
switch by generating a short reset signal to recover the micro-switch to operating conditions
only if the lock status did not occur due to a failure, otherwise the lock status is final.
During programming stage, the WD must be de-activated otherwise it would act with several
resetting making the programming impossible.
The WDT must be activated only when the card is in standard operation condition.
• OFF: CAN terminal not connected
• ON: CAN terminal connected
CAN The CAN serial line must be “terminated” at the two ends with a 120 resistance (one for
each end). 60 Ohm between CANH and CANL shall be measured.
Because the CAN connection is used for outer cards and it is impossible to foresee the way
it will be made, the two termination resistances shall be connected only on the two cards at
the CAN connection ends.

JP8 JP7 JP6 JP5

JP9 JP10 JP1 JP2 JP3 JP4

The card is addressed from “0” to “31” by means of micro-switch SW1.1 – SW1.5.
Each address allocates a group of inputs/outputs to the card.
The symbol “-“ indicates the OFF position, the ON position is clearly indicated.

• OFF: standard operation

• ON: software download
PR The software download is carried out at the plant by means of a PC program.
It could be necessary for the user to repeat it in very few cases when it is necessary to
update the card software.
• OFF: watch-dog-timer deactivated
• ON: watch-dog-timer activated
WD The watch-dog-timer (WDT) carries out an outer check of the proper operation of the micro-
switch by generating a short reset signal to recover the micro-switch to operating conditions
only if the lock status did not occurred due to a failure, otherwise the lock status is final.
During programming stage, the WD must be de-activated otherwise it would act with several
restetting making the programming impossible.
The WDT must be activated only when the card is in standard operation.
• OFF: CAN terminal not connected
• ON: CAN terminal connected
CAN The CAN serial line must be “terminated” at the two ends with a 120 resistance (one for
each end) 60 Ohm between CANH and CANL must be measured.
Because the CAN connection is used for outer cards and it is impossible to foresee the way
it will be made, the two termination resistances shall be connected only on the two cards at
the CAN connection ends
