ACTIVITY
Language focus: Vocabulary and Spelling
Level of proficiency: Novice to Advanced
How to play the game?
1) Divide the students into three groups.
2) For every round, call one player from each group to
write an answer on the whiteboard.
3) The teacher reads the category and any player who
manages to answer first (with the correct spelling) will be
awarded a point.

NOTE:
The teacher can also print the worksheet and distribute it
to every student as an individual task! :)

Level of proficiency: Intermediate to Advanced
How to play the game?
1) The teacher will whisper/show a word (noun) to a player
and the player needs to explain the word to get everyone
else to guess it.
2) Players aren't allowed to use synonyms or any other
words that are directly associated to the word.
For example, if the word is “animal”, they won’t be allowed
to say “cat”, “dog”, “mammal”, etc.
3) Unlike charade, the player has to use words. No gestures
or body movement.
4) To intensify the game, divide the students into groups.

How to play the game?
1) The students have to stand in a big circle and the
teacher will hand them a ball (or without one)
2) The teacher will start the game by giving a student any
letter in the alphabet, e.g. “i” and pass the ball.
3) The student has to say a word that starts with that
letter, e.g. “ice”. The next student then gives a word that
starts with the last letter of “ice”, e.g. “egg”. And so the
game continues.
4) Eliminate any student who makes mistake or takes too
long to answer. The last man standing wins.
NOTES:
The teacher can challenge the students by setting some
rules such as:
1) The words must be longer than three letters
2) It should be related to a theme
3) All words should be verbs

How to play the game?

1) The students have to stand in a big circle and the


teacher will start the game by giving an instruction. For
example,
"Please list things that can be found in a fridge"
2) The teacher will then point to a student and he/she
needs to shout out the answer, e.g. "carrot!" The game
continues with the next student standing in line.
3) Eliminate any student who pauses for too long or fails to
answer.
4) The new round starts with different instruction from
the teacher.
5) The last student standing wins.

How to play the game?

1) Print the bingo scorecards and distribute it to every


student (or group)
2) Read the question aloud and let the students write
their answer in only one word in each box. Make sure the
students use a pen to avoid them cheating a bingo.
3) Here’s the challenge, the students need to write their
answer starting with the letter given in each box. If they
can't answer the question, just wait for the next question.
4) If the student manages to complete a full line (vertical,
horizontal or diagonal) on the scorecard, they can shout
“BINGO!”
5) Play this game until the class has a winner with a full
scorecard!
NOTE:
With low proficiency students, just choose a winner with
the most bingos.
