The student perf?rmed qualitative analyses to identify the specific carbohydrates represented by
P, Q, Rand S usmg the reagents provided, as follows:

a. To 5 ml of Benedict's reagent, in four different test tubes label P, Q, Rand S; eight drops each
of solution P, Q, Rand S was added and boil in a ~ater-bath. After h(?ating all the test tubes,
Solution R formed a blue colouration' while P, Q and S formed a brownish-red colouration.
