A. Lubrication of the MLG and Doors
NOTE: For lubricant grease specification and lubrication requirements, Ref. AMM D/O 12-22-00-00.
(1) Use the figures together with the tables that follow, to find the greasers.
(2) Lubricate the greasers of the MLG as follows:
(a) Lubricate greasers Item 1 in the MLG Table with the Synthetic Oil base Grease-General
Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material Ref. 03GBB1) or the Synthetic Oil base Grease-
General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material Ref. 03GBC1). Do this until
new grease comes out.
(b) Lubricate greasers Item 4 in the MLG Table with the Synthetic Oil base Grease-General
Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material Ref. 03GBB1) or the Synthetic Oil base Grease-
General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material Ref. 03GBC1) or the Synthetic
Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened - (Material Ref. 03GBD1). Do this
until new grease comes out.
(c) Lubricate the remaining greasers in the MLG Table with the Synthetic Ester base Grease-
General Purpose Low Temp - (Material Ref. 03HBD9), the Synthetic Oil base Grease-
General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material Ref. 03GBB1) or the Synthetic Oil base
Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material Ref. 03GBC1). Do this
until new grease comes out.
(d) Lubricate greasers Items 2 thru 4 in the MLG DOOR AND UPLOCKS Table with the
Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material Ref. 03HBD9), the
Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material Ref. 03GBB1) or
the Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material
Ref. 03GBC1). Do this until new grease comes out.
(e) Lubricate greasers Items 1 and 5 in the MLG DOOR AND UPLOCKS Table with the
Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material Ref. 03HBD9), the
Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material Ref. 03GBB1) or
the Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material
Ref. 03GBC1) as follows:
- Use the hand-operated lubrication equipment to lubricate the uplock with a
maximum of two full strokes.
(f) MLG Table:
(3) If the MLG door actuator-bearing housing shows signs of lateral movement, do the steps that
follow:
NOTE: The MLG door actuator-bearing housing can show signs of circular movement, which
is permitted.
(a) Remove the MLG door actuating-cylinder Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-35-000-001.
(b) Send the MLG door actuating-cylinder to the workshop for replacement of the MLG door
actuator-bearing housing.
(c) Install the serviceable MLG door actuating-cylinder Ref. AMM TASK 32-31-35-400-001.
(4) Remove the unwanted grease as follows:
(a) Clean the greasers with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material Ref. 14SBA1) made
moist with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material Ref. 08BAA9).
(b) Make sure that the greaser ball is in the correct position.
(5) Do an inspection of the chrome surfaces of the actuator piston rods.
(a) Make sure that there is no grease on the chrome surfaces of the actuator piston rods.
1 If you find grease on the chrome surfaces of the actuator piston rods, do the steps
that follow:
a
Clean the chrome surfaces with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material
Ref. 14SBA1) made moist with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based
- (Material Ref. 08BBB1).
b Apply a thin layer of the Phosphate Ester Hydraulic Fluid-General Power - -
(Material Ref. 02ABA1) with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material Ref.
14SBA1) on the chrome surfaces of the actuator piston rods.
