    MATERIAL TYPE MATERIAL GRADE MATERIAL NUMBER


    Stainless Steel X2CrNi18-9 1.4307

    DESCRIPTION
    This material code is for X2CrNi18-9 austenitic stainless steel bar, rod, tube and section that are cold work hardened
    (+C700). X2CrNi18-9 generally has good corrosion resistance except against sea water. It is good for machining. It is
    excellent for fusion welding with and without fillers and also has good resistance to intergranular corrosion during
    welding. X2CrNi18-9 can be mechanically and electrochemically polished.
    Former designations of X2CrNi18-9 include 304S11 as per BS 970-1:1996 (superseded, withdrawn), and En58E as per
    BS 970:1955 (withdrawn). These grades are still acceptable to use if they are available.

    REQUIREMENTS
    Round and hexagonal bars, rods and sections: Surface quality 2H as per BS EN 10088-3, surface condition Class 2
    as per BS EN 10277-1 and tolerance class h11 on stock dimensions as per as per BS EN 10278, unless otherwise
    specified on drawing.
