Example:
Dear Mum,
Last week I went to the disco where I met a wonderful boy. He asked me for the dance. He
held me tight. After the dance he walked me home and he kissed me. I fell in love with him
and I invited him to my birthday party. He didn't come. I felt miserable. I had a large glass of
whisky and decided to go to his place. I drove my car, but a traffic warden stopped me. I
failed a breathalyzer test and lost my driving license.
Love
Jill
Dear Jill,
If you had not gone to the disco, you would not have met the wonderful boy.
And if he __hadn’t asked__ you for the dance, he __wouldn’t have held____
you tight. If he __hadn’t walked__ you home, he __wouldn’t have kissed_ you, believe me.
You __wouldn’t have invited_ him to your party if you _hadn’t fallen_ in love with him.
But he should have come. If he _had come__, you _wouldn’t have felt__ miserable.
If you _hadn’t had_ the glass of whisky, you _wouldn’t have decided__ to go to his place.
If you __hadn’t driven__ your car, the traffic warden __wouldn’t have stopped_ you.
And you __wouldn’t have lost__ your driving license if you __hadn’t failed__ the breathalyzer
test.
With love,
Your Mum
