INTRODUCTION

The Lord is rising up young men and women to speak

for Him in this season in time and this book is a
recording of my journey to becoming who God has
created me to be. Please know that all the dreams,
visions and revelations recorded here is not meant to
create any exteem image of myself but it is recorded as
directed by the Holy Spirit in other to allow those who
are now about to embark on this journey to know the
pattern in the entire journey and also to enlighten and
encourage those who have already started this journey.
Faithful is the one who has called us and faithfully will
He bring us to an expected end.

I pray that as you read this book, may the Spirit of the
Lord personally minister to you and help you
understand the ministry He is calling you into and the
assignment ahead to be fulfilled and may your
relationship with Him be improved in Jesus name.
Amen

CHAPTER ONE
THE ORIGIN OF PROPHECY

“…for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy” Rev

19:10b

Prophecy originated from the spoken word of God which is

Jesus. At the beginning of creation, God spoke and said “let
there be light” and light was created. The bible said in
John1:2-3 that Jesus was in the beginning with God and
without him was not any thing made that was made. Jesus is
the very word that proceeds out of the mouth of God and
that word was what created this world.

Whenever God speaks Jesus is revealed, and the prophets

stands to speak the very word of God. In other way,
prophets give testimony of Jesus by speaking what God is
speaking and this is what the spirit of prophecy is about.

“For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but
prophets though human, spoke for God as they were carried
along by the Holy Spirit” 2 Peter 1:21

All prophecy spoken or written never originated from the

will or liken of man in any period of time. Prophecy never

3
Prince Mensah

came because a person wants to prophesy or according to

the pleasure or comfort of the prophet but the prophet
speaks out because God is speaking.

Moses did not go back to Egypt to tell pharaoh to let the

Isrealites go because he wanted his family to be free. He
went there because that is what God told him to do.

Jeremiah did not go about rooting out, pulling down,

destroying, throwing down and planting because he liked it
or willed it or for his pleasure. He did that because God said
so.

Elijah in 1kings 18:36 said, he has done all those things at

the command of God but not his pleasure.

Prophets though humans do not prophesize when they

pleased but when God speaks.

Amos said whenever the Lord God speaks; the prophets can
do nothing than to prophesy. That is why Samuel said that
the Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my
tongue. 2 Sam 23:2

So as God speaks, the Holy Spirit illuminates the mind of

His prophets, gives them understanding of the past, present
and foresight into the future to enable the prophets to speak
or write down the extact word the Lord is saying.

So many times have I experienced this phenomenon. During

some worship or prayer sessions, when the Lord begins to
speak to the people, I get the message and I speak forth the

4
The Journey of the Prophet

word that proceeds out of the mouth of God at that instant.

At other times people come to me to council them on some

issues or to help them understand dreams and I just simply
ask the Lord what He has for them and I receive the
message and speak it forth to the people.

Other times the Lord will speak to me in my closet and

inform me of things happening and then gives me His word
to speak or write to His people.

“And the LORD said unto Ahijah, Behold, the wife of Jeroboam
cometh to ask a thing of thee for her son; for he is sick: thus and
thus shalt thou say unto her: for it shall be, when she cometh in,
that she shall feign herself to be another woman”1kings 14:5

Indeed prophecy orginated from God and prophecy is the

spoken word of God which is our Lord Jesus Christ.

Prophet defined
A prophet or prophetess is God’s spokes person ; one who
hears the voice of God or receives a message from God
through word of knowledge, word of wisdom, visions,
dreams, trance, angelic visitation or directly from Jesus or
the Holy Spirit and communicate the message to its
recipients through speech or write up.

In another way, a prophet is a proclaimer of a divine

message in order to reveal the mind of God to his people on

5
Prince Mensah

earth.

There are several men and women God has called to be His
prophets and prophetess from the Old Testament through to
the New Testament. Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and Daniel
had great responsibilities and are known as Major Prophets.
Others such as Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah,
Nahum, Habakkuk had lesser responsibilities and are called
the Minor Prophets. Some prophets (Moses, Elijah and
Elisah) worked great miracles and wonders on earth while
others like Abraham, Enoch, Noah, Ahijah, Baleam, Jonah,
Agabus and John the Baptist never performed any miracles
but were great prophets of God

Some prophetess from the bible includes; Mariam, Deborah,

Huldah, Noadiah, Isaiah’s wife and Anna.

“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my

spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall
prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men
shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the
handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit” Joel 2:28-29

The Lord through prophet Joel promised of an increase in

both men and women prophets. He said, many will prophesy
and many others will dream dreams and see visions in the
last days and I bless the Lord for this massive restoration of
His voice through prophets in these days.

6
The Journey of the Prophet

How God communicates with His Prophets

“And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among

you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision,
and will speak unto him in a dream. My servant Moses is not so,
who is faithful in all mine house. With him will I speak mouth to
mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the
similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye
not afraid to speak against my servant Moses? “Numbers 12:6-8

“I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied

visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets”
Hosea 12:10

For a person to be a spokesman of God, that person should

be in constant communication with God. Every prophet
must be prayerful because we can only talk to God through
prayer but the Lord speaks to His prophets through visions,
dreams, symbols, trance, out of the body experience, the
Lord’s audible voice and divine visitation.

Visions

Vision is what people see when the Lord reveals images of a

person, a place or an event to His prophets while they are
awake.

“He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an
angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius”
Acts 10:3

In this verse, Cornelius was wildly awake but God opened

his eyes and he received a vision of an angel of the Lord
bringing Him a message from the Lord. Though Cornelius
was not a prophet, his prayers and alms had reached heaven
as a memorial before God and God communicated back to
him through a vision.

“In the third year of the reign of king Belshazzar a vision

appeared unto me, even unto me Daniel, after that which
appeared unto me at the first. And I saw in a vision; and it came
to pass, when I saw, that I was at Shushan in the palace, which is
in the province of Elam; and I saw in a vision, and I was by the
river of Ulai. Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold,
there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the
two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the
higher came up last” Daniel 8:1-3

8
Prophet Daniel was a man who receieved a lot of visions
from the Lord. In this vision, he was awake and the Lord
conveyed a symbolic message to him through a vision.

“After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a
vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy
exceeding great reward” Gen 15:1

God use a vision to remind Abraham that he will become a

father of many nations.

“And the LORD answered me, and said, write the vision, and
make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the
vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak,
and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely
come, it will not tarry” Habk 2:2-3 NJV

“The burden which Habakkuk the prophet did see” Habk 1:1

Prophet Habakkuk receieved messages from God through

visions and God asked him to write down his visions.

“The burden of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the

Elkoshite”Nahum 1:1

Prophet Nahum also received a lot of visions concerning

Nineveh and what the Lord is saying to the people of
Nineveh.

“The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning

Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and
Hezekiah, kings of Judah” Isaiah 1:1

Prophet Isaiah also had visions concerning Judah and

Jerusalem.

“Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in

Prince Mensah

the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the
river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions
of God” Ezekial 1:1

Ezekiel the priest and prophet of God also received a lot of

visions from God.

John the revelator received almost the entire book of

revelation through prophetic visions revealing events that
are to occur in the future.

I have also received several messages from God through this

channel. Through visions, I knew that we have three groups
of Christians pertaining to how they grow in the Lord.
Through visions, I received more understanding of bible
verses. The word of knowledge and the word of wisdom
also manifest sometimes through visions to me.

On one occasion, I was speaking to a lady and then I

received a vision concerning her attitude toward someone
and I shared it with her. The Lord still speaks to His people
and most especially His prophets using visions.

Dreams

“In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth

upon men, in slumberings upon the bed” Job 33:15

Dreams are also known as night visions and this is another

way the Lord speaks to His prophets at night when they are

10
The Journey of the Prophet

asleep.

The bible recorded a lot of prophets that receieved messages

from God through dreams and the Lord is still
communicating with His prophets through dreams today.

“And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and

they hated him yet the more. And he said unto them, Hear, I pray
you, this dream which I have dreamed: for, behold, we were
binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also
stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and
made obeisance to my sheaf. And his brethren said to him, shalt
thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion
over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for
his words” Gen 37:5-8

Joseph was a mighty man and a dreamer of dreams. It was

through his ability to dream and to interprete dreams that led
him into the King’s palace.

“And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and

the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God
ascending and descending on it. And, behold, the LORD stood
above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father,
and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I
give it, and to thy seed; And thy seed shall be as the dust of the
earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east,
and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed
shall all the families of the earth be blessed” Gen 28:12-14

“And God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said,
Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I.” Gen 46:2

11
Prince Mensah

Jacob beheld the Lord in a dream and the Lord revealed His
plans and purpose for His servant and friend Abraham to
Jacob.

“In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night:

and God said, ask what I shall give thee” 1 Kings 3:5

The Lord appeared to King Solomon in a dream had a

conversation with him and blessed King Solomon with
divine wisdom like no one else.

“And it came to pass that night, that the word of the LORD came
unto Nathan, saying” 2 Sam 7:4

Prophet Nathan received a message from the Lord to King David

through dreams.

“Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then
Daniel blessed the God of heaven” Dan 2:19

Mysteries and revelations about the last days were revealed

to Prophet Daniel through dreams.

“And he said unto them, Lodge here this night, and I will bring
you word again, as the LORD shall speak unto me: and the
princes of Moab abode with Balaam. And God came unto
Balaam, and said, What men are these with thee? And Balaam
said unto God, Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, hath sent
unto me, saying, Behold, there is a people come out of Egypt,
which covereth the face of the earth: come now, curse me them;
peradventure I shall be able to overcome them, and drive them
out. And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them;
thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed. And Balaam

12
The Journey of the Prophet

rose up in the morning, and said unto the princes of Balak, Get
you into your land: for the LORD refuseth to give me leave to go
with you. And Balaam answered and said unto the servants of
Balak, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I
cannot go beyond the word of the LORD my God, to do less or
more. Now therefore, I pray you, tarry ye also here this night,
that I may know what the LORD will say unto me more. And God
came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men come
to call thee, rise up, and go with them; but yet the word which I
shall say unto thee, that shalt thou do.” Num 22:8-13, 18-20

Prophet Balaam was a prophet who mostly receives

messages from the Lord through dreams. Whenever King
Balak ask him to curse the people of Israel, he will tell the
King to wait so that he can hear from the Lord at night
through dreams and thoroughly the Lord always speak to
him at night.

There are several others in the New Testament that the Lord
spoke to them through dreams and showed them things and
events to come.

My mother is a powerful woman of God who most often

receieves messages concerning people, her family and the
church she belongs to through dreams and most often, her
prophetic dreams comes to pass. Her dreams mostly stun
people to the extent that her pastor gave her a note book to
always record her dreams relating to her church in it.

I have had so many dreams from the Lord and through

dreams I get to know of impending road traffic accidents

13
Prince Mensah

that some students of my college were about to encounter

and upon the lifting up of prayers, three accidents occurred
in which students were involved but none was hurt. Through
dreams, though I am in Kintampo the center of Ghana, I got
to know what was happening back home in Accra. Through
dreams, I received my calling into the office of the prophet.
My commission, mantle and training were also revealed to
me by God through dreams. (Calling, Commission, Mantle
and Training will be discuss in other chapters of this book)

Trance

The Lord also speaks to His prophet through trance. This is

a state of half consciousness where the prophet will be
between sleeping and being awake. Though the prophet will
be aware of his surrounding when the Lord begins to speak
to him in this way, he is not be in full consciousness.

“And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while
they made ready, he fell into a trance, and saw heaven opened,
and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great
sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth: Wherein
were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild
beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. And there came
a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. But Peter said, not so,
Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or
unclean. And the voice spake unto him again the second time,
What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. This was
done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.”

14
The Journey of the Prophet

Acts 10:10-16

“I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a

vision, a certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let
down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me: Upon
the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw
fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping
things, and fowls of the air. And I heard a voice saying unto me,
Arise, Peter; slay and eat. But I said, not so, Lord: for nothing
common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth. But
the voice answered me again from heaven, what God hath
cleansed, that call not thou common. And this was done three
times: and all were drawn up again into heaven” Acts 11:5-10

Apostle Peter experienced trance and in it the Lord

instructed him to go and minister to a gentile man for the
first time.

“And it came to pass, that, when I was come again to Jerusalem,

even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance; and saw him
saying unto me, Make haste, and get thee quickly out of
Jerusalem: for they will not receive thy testimony concerning
me”Acts 22:17-18

“It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to

visions and revelations of the Lord. I knew a man in Christ above
fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or
whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one
caught up to the third heaven” 2 Cor 12:2-4

Prophet Paul who later became an apostle also while praying

entered into a trance and God instructed him to leave

15
Prince Mensah

Jerusalem because people have plotted against him.

In another incident, it was recorded that Paul was not sure if

he was in the body or out of the body.

“I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a

great voice, as of a trumpet. And when I saw him, I fell at his feet
as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me,
Fear not; I am the first and the last” Rev 1:10,17

John the revelator also fell into trance as though he was dead
but he could still see and hear what is happening around
him.

Symbols and Dark saying

“And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among

you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision,
and will speak unto him in a dream. My servant Moses is not so,
who is faithful in all mine house. With him will I speak mouth to
mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the
similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye
not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?” Num 12:6-8

“I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of

old” Psalm 78:2

Symbols and dark sayings are sometimes used by God to

communicate with His prophets through dreams and visions.
Not all dreams and visions are symbolic but sometimes, God
uses words, images, animal, colour and objects to convey

16
The Journey of the Prophet

His message and therefore the prophets must then interpret

the symbols using bible or through experience in other to get
the main message.

“And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the
Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast
out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him” Rev
12:9

The great dragon or serpent is a symbol of satan.

“The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my

God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn
of my salvation, and my high tower” Psalm 18:2

Rock is a symbol for the Lord.

“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though
your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though
they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” Isaiah 1:18 and
Rev 6:2 shows that white is a symbol for redemption and/or
purity.

Despite you can use the bible to interpret most symbols,

understanding symbols involves experience obtained from
walking with God over a period of time. I can show you a
pen; to you it seems like an ordinary pen but to someone
close to me, that person will know what the pen means to
me and what message I am carring across by showing
someone that pen. I have seen people interpreting all
symbols using the bible, well that’s not bad but I have come
to the realization that it is not always that you will be able to

17
Prince Mensah

interpret the symbols using the bible because God mostly

use what is around you to speak to you and if the current
items and objects are not found in the bible how then are we
going to understanding that message? That is why I said
only a personal relationship with God will enable you to
understand a lot of symbols. The bible says, Abraham saw
three men walking by and because he knew God, he ran to
the men and bow to the man in the middle and pleaded that
the Lord should pass by his house and the Lord did followed
Abraham. God did not inform Abraham about He coming by
but because Abraham knew God, he could spot Him from
afar. The Lord didn’t ask for food to eat and water to wash
His feet but Abraham knew what God wants and he gave it
to Him then God revealed His secret about the destruction of
Sodom and Gomorra to him.

I once had a dream and the Lord place a crown on my head

and on my quest to seek understanding of this dream, a
brother told me that from 1 Peter 5:4, he understands the
dream that the Lord is calling me into the office of a pastor.
Unknown to him, the Lord has already informed me that He
is sending me as a prophet to His people so that means that
the brother’s interpretation was wrong. I then prayed unto
the Lord and the Lord revealed the meaning of the dream to
me as a crown is a symbol of authority and power and that
there is no King without a crown so the dream was to show
me that He the Lord has given me the prophetic mantle to do
His work. (more about mantle will be discuss later in this
book)

18
The Journey of the Prophet

Out of the body experience

This is when the Lord allows the spirit of a person to move
out of the body of that person for a while in other for that
person to receive a message from God. This experience is
different from astra-projections which are being practice by
occults, sorcerers, witches and yogis. This is because the
witch or sorcerer will project his or her spirit out of his or
her body by his or her will through demonic powers but the
prophet can not will his spirit out of his body by any power
but it is the Lord that chooses and if it pleases the Lord, He
will allow His prophet to experience that for a while.

I have a one time experience of this phenomenon back in the

year 2008 in a high school. I went to class to study late at
night and returned to my dormitory at 4am. Upon siting on
my bed, I decided to read a verse from my bible, pray and
sleep and all of a sudden my spirit left my body and stood
by my bed. I could see my body lying at the edge of my bed.
I could also see everyone in the room. Some were sleeping;
others were chating while others were moving about in the
room. I was shocked and somehow my spirit disappeared
and reappeared in another hall I did not know but at that
hall, I could see some Christians worshipping God so I
joined them and to my surprice, right after the worship they
all started doing other things as if they were not even
Christians so I was so sad and started calling them to come
back together but they could not hear me so I tried holding a

19
Prince Mensah

guy and my hand passed through him as though I was just

an air so I became afraid and shouted saying “ God am I
dead?” and suddenly I disappeared and reappeared in my
room and could still see everything as before then I walked
close to my bed and somehow my spirit entered my body
back and I raised up. The Lord later gave me understanding
that He showed me the behaviours of some of His children
who only knew Him and worship Him at a particular time or
season and after that they forget about Him.

Through the years I later find out that other prophets in the
bible also had this experience.

“Then the spirit took me up, and I heard behind me a voice of a

great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of the LORD from his
place.I heard also the noise of the wings of the living creatures
that touched one another, and the noise of the wheels over
against them, and a noise of a great rushing. So the spirit lifted
me up, and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of
my spirit; but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me” Eze
3:12-14

“The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the
spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley
which was full of bones, and caused me to pass by them round
about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and,
lo, they were very dry.” Eze 37:1-2

Prophet Ezekiel was carried out of his body by the hand of

the Lord several times to a place where he received his
prophetic messages.

20
The Journey of the Prophet

“So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I

saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of
blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns” Rev 17:3

“And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high

mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem,
descending out of heaven from God” Rev 21:10

John the revelator was carried out of his body by an angel of

God into the wilderness and later to a great and high
mountain where he received the revelation of Jesus Christ to
the seven churches.

Please take note that it is the Lord that carries the prophet
spirit out of the body not the prophet projecting his spirit out
of his body.

The Lord’s audible voice

“And lo a voice from heaven, saying, this is my beloved Son, in
whom I am well pleased” Matt 3:17

“With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not
in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he
behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my
servant Moses?” Num 12:8

“Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven,
saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again. The
people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it
thundered: others said, an angel spake to him” John

21
Prince Mensah

12:28-29

“And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters,

and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of
harpers harping with their harps” Rev 14:2

The Lord also communicates to His prophets through an

audible voice. There is a time when God spoke to the
people of Israel in the wilderness with a voice like a thunder
and the people pleaded that God should speak only to His
prophet Moses so that Moses would tell them what God has
told him.

Paul was called by Jesus through an audible voice. The bible

said, Paul saw a white light and the Lord spoke to him
saying Saul, Saul; why do you presecute me?

Rick Joyner once spoke of hearing the audible voice of God.

He described it as, “when the Lord spoke to me audibly for
the first time, He said one of the most personal, beautiful
and loving things He had ever said to me but it is impossible
to describe the terror I felt. His voice contains such depth
and endless power that I felt like a mere atom standing
before the sun”.

I have not experience the audible voice of God before but I

believe that He still speak to His prophets in this way and I
patiently wait for the day He will speak to me audibly.

Aside the physical audible way God speaks to His prophets,

He also speaks gentlely into their spiritual ears. This is a

22
The Journey of the Prophet

more common route the Lord communicates with His

prophets aside dreams and visions. I have experienced
hearing from God through this channel. Once I was in a
praying meeting and the Lord informed me to pray for a
lady who the devil was trying to give her brain turmor but I
looked around and could not find this lady and after some
minutes, this lady who was not part of the group praying on
the field came in and joined us and the Holy Spirit prompted
me that the lady is in so I asked the people standing there
who among them was experiencing severe headach which
comes on and off but now it is on? Then only the lady came
out and we prayed for her and by the grace of God she
became well.

Divine Visitation

“And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on

the right side of the altar of incense” Luke 1:11

This involves the visible appearance of Jesus, the Holy

Spirit or the angel of the Lord brings a message to the
prophet of the Lord.

“And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and
he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day; and he lift up his
eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he
saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed
himself toward the ground, and said, My Lord, if now I have
found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy

23
Prince Mensah

servant” Gen 18:1-3

The Lord in addition with two angels appeared unto

Abraham as in the form of a man and Abraham entertain
them in his household.

“And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him
until the breaking of the day. And when he saw that he prevailed
not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the
hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.
And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will
not let thee go, except thou bless me. And he said unto him, What
is thy name? And he said, Jacob. And he said, Thy name shall be
called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power
with God and with men, and hast prevailed” Gen 32:24-28

Jacob physically encountered an angel of the Lord and

wrestled with him all night long.

“And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on

the right side of the altar of incense” Luke 1:11

Zacharias saw Archangel Gabriel who came to inform him

of the birth of John the Baptist.

“And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God
unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth” Luke 1:26

Mary also encountered Archangel Gabriel, who brought her

good news about the birth of our Lord.

Prophetess Juanita Bynum, Prophetess Jennifer LeClaire,

Prophet James Goll, Grey Wood, Judith MacNutt, and other

24
The Journey of the Prophet

prophets have encountered angels of the Lord several times

in their lifes while others like Prophet Rick Joyner, Prophet
James Maloney, Prophet Kenneth Hagin, Prophetess
Glenda, Prophet Jose Santana, Mel Bond, Gary Whetstone,
Cherie, Calbom, Jerame Nelson, Randy DeMain, Khalida
Wukawitz, Shane Warren, David E. Taylor among others
also have physically encountered Jesus Christ.

Wow, what a wonderful experience that will be. Despite I

have seen angels in my dreams before, I have never
experience a divine visitation before and I long to see my
Lord visiting me.

CHAPTER TWO
THE CALL TO THE OFFICE OF A PROPHET

The journey of becoming a spokesman for God starts with

God calling you into this office. No one takes this honour
upon him or her self to enter into this office without a call
from God and no one is a prophet because he desires to be a
prophet.

You can be serving or ministering in the house of God but

that does not make you a prophet. You can be pastoring the
biggest church in town but that does not make you a
prophet.

25
Prince Mensah

“But Samuel ministered before the LORD, being a child, girded

with a linen ephod” 1 Sam 2:18

“And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And
the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no
open vision” 1 Sam 3:1

The bible says that Samuel ministered before and unto the
Lord but he was not a prophet until God called him into the
office of a prophet.

From my book titled “Fervent in Spirit; serving the Lord”, I

taught that there are two major ways by which the Lord calls
people into the fivefold ministry; these are the inner call and
the outter call but specifically with the office of the prophet,
God uses the outer call. He calls His prophets in dramatic
ways through visions or dreams.

“And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among

you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision,
and will speak unto him in a dream” Num 12:6

You can never claim you have been called into the office of
the prophet without God first revealing His call to you
personally through dreams and visions. I believe this is
needed to sustain you through difficult and challancing time
in the ministry. There are times I wanted to doubt being
called by God but the voice of God I heard when He called
me in the dream was clear and kind of left an imprint in my
heart that it is till clear to me and I can not doubt that.

“Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he

26
The Journey of the Prophet

was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many
colours. And when his brethren saw that their father loved him
more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak
peaceably unto him. And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it
his brethren: and they hated him yet the more. And he said unto
them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed: For,
behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf
arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood
round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf. And his brethren
said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed
have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his
dreams, and for his words” Gen 37:3-8

Joseph calling to the ministry of the prophetic started with

two dreams of which God revealed Joseph calling to him.

“Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest
of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and
came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. And the angel of the
LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a
bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and
the bush was not consumed. And Moses said, I will now turn
aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. And
when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto
him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he
said, Here am I” Exo 3:1-4

Moses became a prophet after God called him at the

backside of the desert through a vision of the burning bush.

“And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD,
where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep;

27
Prince Mensah

that the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I. And

the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel,
Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.
And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel,
at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle”
1 Sam 3:3-4,10-11

Samuel was ministering in the house of the Lord but he was

not a prophet until the Lord came and stood by him and
called him to become a national prophet.

“In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting
upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain
he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with
twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy,
holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his
glory. And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that
cried, and the house was filled with smoke. Then said I, Woe is
me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I
dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have
seen the King, the LORD of hosts. Then flew one of the seraphims
unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with
the tongs from off the altar: And he laid it upon my mouth, and
said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken
away, and thy sin purged. Also I heard the voice of the Lord,
saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I,
Here am I; send me” Isaiah 6:1-8

Isaiah had an awesome vision and saw an angel of the Lord

(seraphim) and he then saw the Lord and the Lord called

28
The Journey of the Prophet

him into the office of a prophet.

“Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Before I
formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth
out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet
unto the nations. Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot
speak: for I am a child. But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I
am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and
whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of
their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.
Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And
the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy
mouth. See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the
kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to
throw down, to build, and to plant” Jer 1:4-10

Although Jeremiah and all other prophets has already been

set apart from the womb to be prophets, the Lord still made
His calling of Jeremiah into the office of a prophet known to
him through vision.

“And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will
speak unto thee. And the spirit entered into me when he spake
unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake
unto me. And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the
children of Israel, to a rebellious nation1 that hath rebelled
against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me,
even unto this very day” Eze 2:1-3

The calling of Ezekiel began with a vision of the Lord

telling him that He is sending him to the Israelites.

29
Prince Mensah

“Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet,

neither was I a prophet's son; but I was an herdman, and a
gatherer of sycomore fruit: And the LORD took me as I followed
the flock, and the LORD said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my
people Israel” Amos 7:14-15

Amos was a farmer and one day while doing his work on the
field, he had a vision and heard the Lord telling him to go
and prophesize and that is what made him a prophet.

Bob Jones calling to the office of the prophet started at the

age of seven when he was walking on a dirt road in
Arkansas then the archangel Gabriel appeared to him on a
white horse and blew a double silver trumpet in his face then
threw an old bull skin mantle on his feet and that is how he
became a seer prophet.

Juanita Bynum said that everytime she get on her knees to

pray she kept hearing God telling her that before He formed
her in her mothers womb, He had set her apart to be a
prophetess to the nations then the Lord one day showed her
a dream of bags and huge brown boxes falling from the sky
and the Lord told her that all those boxes will come to her if
she walk in the office of a prophetess because He the Lord
has ordained these blessings for the prophetic side in her not
the evangelist in her and that is how she became a
prophetess.

T. B Joshua calling to be a prophet started with a trance that

lasted for three consecutive days. In the trance, he saw a

30
The Journey of the Prophet

hand pointed a bible to his heart and the bible immerse with
the heart. He then saw apostles and prophets of old with
their names written boldly on their chest and in their mist he
saw a man whose head entered heaven making it impossible
to see the man’s face then he knew that the man was Jesus
and He spoke to T. B Joshua saying “I am your God; I am
giving you a divine commission to go and carry out the
work of the heavenly father.” He was given a small cross
and a bigger bible and a promised that as he keeps pressing
on, he would be given a bigger cross each year.

Kakra Baiden was called to become a prophet years ago

through a vision where the Lord appeared to him and called
him into the ministry as a prophet, teacher of the word and a
miracle worker.

Prophet Diallo calling into the ministry was similar to that

of Moses in the bible. God appeared literally to him in a
burning bush that was not burnt just like the calling of
Moses and the Lord spoke to him in an audible voice calling
him to the office of the prophet.

I personally had a dream during my examination period in

college on December 2, 2014 after studying the whole night
to write a paper I have at 10am. I fell asleep at 4am and I
had a dream in which I clearly heard the voice of the Lord
from heaven saying “Prince, I am sending you as a prophet
to my people in this season in time”. The voice was so clear
and penetrative and left a blueprint in me that when I woke
up, I could still feel the voice within me.

31
Prince Mensah

The Lord in His wisdom calls His spokesmen through a

personal outer call and if the Lord has not called you yet in
this manner, back down and be patience until the Lord calls
you.

Do not be deceived, man can not call you to be a prophet.

Attending school of prophet can not make you a prophet.
Friends and family can not make you a prophet only God
can. I have heard of some people saying that a prophet
spoke a word of wisdom to them telling them that they are
called to be prophets. Beloved a prophet or apostle can only
confirm your calling but can never call you and so if you
have not heard from God personally yet and a prophet
informs you of your call, seek God through prayer and if it
is true, God will speak to you through visions and dreams.

I know a fellow who a man of God told him that he will be

an apostle but the Lord appeared to him personally and
called him to be a prophet. So beloved, if you have not
heard from God yet concerning your calling, be patient and
trust in the Lord with all your heart.

You may be gifted with the word of knowledge, word of

wisdom and the gift of prophecy but if you are not called yet
just be faithful in what God gave you and serve Him
fervently in that level until He calls you to be a prophet for
Him.

32
CHAPTER THREE
THE COMMISSION OF A PROPHET

After being called into the office of a prophet, the next step
is for you to receive your commission or mandate from God.

The commissioning of a prophet is not about earthly

ordination or receiving a certificate showing that you are a
prophet but it is about receiving a summary of your mission
for being a prophet from God.

You can not be a prophet of God without a call from Him

and until you receive your commission from Him, you
cannot start your task not to talk of you finishing your
mission.

The “why” you are a prophet is your commission and this is

very essential in working for the Lord. No two prophets are
alike and no two prophets have the same commission at the
same time. Based on the commission, mantles will be issued
out to you in order for you to function.

“Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that
thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of
Egypt” Exo 3:10

Moses commission as a prophet was to bring forth the

children of Israel out of Egypt and that was what he was
called to do and he did that. All signs and wonders he
preformed was not this commission but an ability to enable
him fulfill his commission.
Prince Mensah

“And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but
understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Make the
heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their
eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and
understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed”
Isaiah 6:9-10

Prophet Isaiah received a strange commission from God to

make the people incapable of listening to Him until He the
Lord will destroy their cities, houses and lands. Prophet
Isaiah understood his commission and carried out his
assignment until he died.

“See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the
kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to
throw down, to build, and to plant” Jer 1:10

Prophet Jeremiah’s commission was also mysterious in a

way because he was to overthrow Judah, throw down the
throne of David, root out the branch of royal family and to
plan a new beginning for the people of Israel.

“And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of
Israel, to a rebellious nation1 that hath rebelled against me: they
and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this
very day. For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do
send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the
Lord GOD. And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will
forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that
there hath been a prophet among them” Eze 2:3-5

“Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of

34
The Journey of the Prophet

Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them

warning from me” Eze 3:17

Prophet Ezekiel was given a commission to be a watchman

over a rebellious nation and to warm them to repent.

“Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah13 the son of
Amittai, saying, Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry
against it; for their wickedness is come up before me” Jonah 1:1-
2

“And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time,
saying, Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it
the preaching that I bid thee” Jonah 3:1-2

Prophet Jonah’s commission was to speak against the sin of

Nineveh unto repentance and that he did which led to the
safety of the people of Nineveh.

“Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way

before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to
his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight
in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts” Malachi 3:1

“In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the

wilderness of Judaea, And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of
heaven is at hand. For this is he that was spoken of by the
prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness,
Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight”
Matt 3:1-3

John the Baptist commission was to prepare the way for our
Lord Jesus Christ. These was evident by the ministry of

35
Prince Mensah

John starting just before Jesus started His ministry and it

was John who baptized Jesus in preparation for His
ministry.

Prophetess Juanita Bynum said that her commission from

God is to help others understand the word of God with a
sound biblical teaching.

Prophet Rick Joyner said, his commission is to help release

the five equipping ministries to the church which are
essential for the church in other for it to fulfill her last day
ministry.

The story of Prophet T. B Joshua call into the office of a

prophet spoke of he given a small cross which is being
changed to bigger ones every year in a vision. This cross
symbolizes his commission.

Prophet Bernard El Bernard once said that his commission

was to teach about supernatural, prophetic and faith.

I personal got my commission in a dream in which after the

Lord has place a crown on my head, HE said “…to you
going to the church of Ephesus…”. My commission is to
restore fervency back to the church through preaching of
faith, love and repentance and to also equip Christians to
actively serve God using their time, energy, influence,
talents, spiritual gifts and in ministry.

I will not declear that I fully understand my commission

though but as a young prophet, this is what the Lord has

36
The Journey of the Prophet

revealed to me.

Audience and Message

Every prophet called and commissioned by God has a
particular audience and message God wants His prophet to
speak forth. The audience and the message come as a
package together as a commission.

Prophet Moses was sent to Pharoah of Egypt with a message

to let God’s people go and worship Him.

Prophet Isaiah was sent to the people of Judah, Damascus,

Samaria and Jerusalem with the message, “keep on hearing
but do not understand; keep on seeing but do not perceive”.

Prophet Jeremiah was sent to the people of several nations

and Kingdoms (Jerusalem, Judah, Babylon, Egypt, Moab,
Ammonites, Edom, Damascus, Kedar, Hazor, Elam and
Chaldeans). His message was to destruction and new
beginning for Israel.

Prophet Ezekial was sent to the people of Israel with the

message of lamentation and mourning and woe.

Prophet Jonah was sent to the people of Nineveh with the

message of repentance.

John the Baptist was sent to the people of Israel with the
message “the coming of the Lord is at hand”.

37
Prince Mensah

I have been sent to Christians who used to be on fire for God

and labored for the Lord in patience. People who once hated
evil and double life Christians. I am sent to people who have
grown weary and have fallen. My message given me by
Jesus to these Christians is for them to remember where they
have fallen and repent and do the first things they use to do
for the love of Christ or else Jesus is coming quickly to
remove their candlestick.

“But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath

called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all
churches” 1 Cor 7:17

Beloved if God has called you into the office of a prophet

but you have not yet received your commission, ask Him
and He will give you your commission and tell you the
purpose by which He called you. Faithful is our Lord, speak
to Him this moment and listen to what He will tell you.

38
CHAPTER FOUR
THE PROPHETIC MANTLE

“And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and
smote the waters, and said, where is the LORD God of
Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they
parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over” 2 Kings
2:14

A mantle is an outer cloak or garment which is worn

for protection. In the bible, mantles are worn mostly
by Kings and prophets to signify their authority.

The prophetic mantle is a symbol of authority on a

prophet that testifies that he is God’s chosen
spokesman.

“So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of

Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen
before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by
him, and cast his mantle upon him. And he left the oxen,
and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my
father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he
said unto him, Go back again: for what have I done to
thee?” 1 Kings 19:19-20

Prophets are well known for their mantles and that is

why when Elisha first encountered Elijah on the field,
Prince Mensah

Elisha knew that Elijah was a prophet of God and he

left everything he was doing to follow him.

“And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and

smote the waters, and they were divided hither and
thither, so that they two went over on dry ground” 2
Kings 2:8

“And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou

unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go
forward: But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine
hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel
shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea” Exo
14:15-16

The prophetic mantle is also very powerful and that

was what prophet Elijah used to divide river Jordan
and Moses also used his mantle to divide the red sea.

The bible says that the sons of the prophet exclaimed

that the spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha and they
gave Elisha the appropriate respect when they saw
Elisha also dividing river Jordan as his master did.

“And Moses answered and said, but, behold, they will not
believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say,
The LORD hath not appeared unto thee. And the LORD
said unto him, what is that in thine hand? And he said, A
rod. And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on
the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from
before it. And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine

40
The Journey of the Prophet

hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand,
and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand: That they
may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God
of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath
appeared unto thee.” Exo 4:1-5

God in His own wisdom gives part of His power and

authority to His prophets so that people will believe
that He the Lord has truly sent His prophets.

As stated earily, the cloak is just a symbol and so any

other item or thing that can symbolize authority can
be use by God to reveal His mantle on His prophet.
Moses’s prophetic mantle was symbolized by the rod
in his hand. First miracle in front of Pharoah was
done with his rod. He then divided the red sea by
raising the rod and pointing it to the sea. It was also
recorded that during war when his rod is raised, the
Israelites wins but when it was lowered, they failed.

I earier shared a dream about the Lord placing a

crown on my head and a brethren interpreted it that I
was being called into the office of the pastor
unknown to him God has already revealed to me that
He was sending me as a prophet. So I prayed about
the dream and the Lord gave me understanding. The
Lord made me understood that a cloak, crown, rod or
scepter all represents authority and power. He said
that without a scepter, a servant is without authority
to speak for a King and the people will not even pay

41
Prince Mensah

any attention to what ever he has to say. There is no

King without a crown and the people may not be able
to recognize the authority of a man without a crown,
scepter and royal cloak. The Lord then made me
understand that the dream I had about He placing a
crown on my head was a way He was revealing to me
that He has called me, commissioned me and given
me the prophetic authority I will need in other to
succeed in my mission.

A policeman’s uniform is his scepter. He may be

your relative but in uniform, he carries the authority
of the government on his shoulders. When he gives
instructions with his uniform on, he speaks with
boldness and authority because he is aware of the
authority he has on him.

Beloved, if God has called you to be His prophet and

He has commissioned you, you need to request for
the prophetic mantle if you are not sure you have
received one.

John the Baptist was in the wilderness and organized

church service and people from all over Jerusalem
and Judah attended his service because of his mantle.
You don’t need to steal people church members to
your church, just get your mantle from God and
people will search for you.

“And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and

42
The Journey of the Prophet

a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts
and wild honey. Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all
Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan, And were
baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins” Matt
3:4-6

John the Baptist worn camels skin as clothing and ate

some wild stuffs but people still followed him. Even
our Lord Jesus Christ also left His home and went to
John the Baptist to baptize Him because it was only
John that has the prophetic mantle to baptize Jesus.

Beloved I have come to the realization that without

the prophetic mantle, you can not go far in ministry
and you may not be able to complete your mission so
I beseech you to ask the Father who faithfully called
you to be His prophet to faithfully give you the
prophetic mantle for the work He has called you to
do.

43
CHAPTER FIVE
THE TRAINING

On the 15th Febuary 2015, I had a dream of which in the

dream, certain bretherns and I were undergoing training at a
camp. Somehow I knew we have been at the camp for quiet
a long while and I also realized that all our instructors were
angels of God. We were constantly reminded that the
training is to enable us to mature and be able to withstand
the challences we will encounter on the field and also we
were informed that the training will make us become who
the Father wants us to be. I also identified that some group
of trainees were giving up on their training and mission and
just quit and left the training camp while another group of
trainees were not serious with the training so they were
sacked from the camp. So with this observation, I decided to
focus and continue with what was expected of me as a loyal
trainee. Then two different angels came into the camp and as
soon as our instructor saw them, he told us that the Lord has
come to visit us so we all knelt down and began
worshipping the Lord including all the angels present there.
Then a bright crystal clear light appeared in our mist. I could
not see the person’s face and I can not locate any English
word to use in describing what I saw but I knew that the
person in that light was Jesus and I could feel His love and
peace. Somehow I could not think of doing anything else
aside worshipping Him forever. Then Jesus spoke with a
gentle, lovely, caring and clear voice and commended our
The Journey of the Prophet

instructors for the good work done in training us.

Beloved, I shared this dreams and encounters with you

because I want you to gain understanding that God’s
spokesmen are primarily trained by Jesus Christ through the
Holy Spirit and His holy angels.

“For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by

the revelation of Jesus Christ” Gal 1:12

Paul was not a direct disciple of Jesus and he never

physically encountered Jesus nor followed Jesus through out
His early ministry but Paul told the Galatians that the
messages he preached are not from any man nor was he
taught by anyone but he received his messages by revelation
from Jesus Christ. Paul was trying to convey the message
that after he was called by Jesus into ministry, he left and
stayed a couple of years in Arabia and there he received his
training from Jesus and that is what made him a great post-
ascension apostle.

From the day I received my calling into the office of the

prophet till now I have rapidly increased in knowledge and
wisdom about the word of God to the glorification of His
name. I am a Christian who believe and live by the apostolic
teachings and despite I believe in the existence of prophets
in the church; I do not chase after the prophetic but when in
church a prophet ministers, I feel blessed and moved for the
Lord and so when the Lord called me into the office of the
prophet , I was surpriced and asked myself why not teacher

45
Prince Mensah

or evangelist because I knew I had only a little knowledge

about the office of a prophet and considering the stories of
the prophets in the bible, I began crying unto the Lord that I
know nothing about being a prophet. Though I knew I
sometime receive word of knowledge and word of wisdom
from the Holy Spirit and at other times I use the gift of
prophecy God gave me and even see in the spiritual realm, I
did not feel that I was the right person for that job. I knew I
love the word of God and love to teach people, I knew that I
have been to evangelism programs and I do evangelize so
why then was I not given any of the two above. I thought
about it for sometime and realized that God, knows me
better than I can ever know myself and beside He said His
plans for me is of good and to bring me to an expected end
so I accepted the call and the Lord taught me a lot of things
through personal bible studies, dreams, visions and
impressions that amazes me and stun people. It was like a
veil was take away from my eyes that makes it possible to
read scriptures and get stunning understanding about them
and even the verses I use to know now became more clearer
to be than before. I also realized that I mostly receive
understanding relating to my calling and commission.
Sometime, I may be siting down then something will just
drop into me spirit and a bible verse in which I am not even
thinking about will pop out into my mind with a clear
interpretation and understanding. I belive this experience are
divine and same as how Paul receieved his training and I
bless the name of the Lord for this grace.

46
The Journey of the Prophet

In the army cadet, I was told that difficulty in the training

center results in easiness at the field. In my dream, some
group of trainees gave up and others were sacked because of
lack of discipline.

Training without decipline is a child’s play. It takes

discipline to wake up when the Holy Spirit is waking you up
to study the word of God or the pray at night. I could sleep
at 11:40pm and I will feel another presence in my room at
12:05pm or sometimes 1:00pm and I have to wake up.
Sometimes, I would be too tired but I have to wake up
because I have to learn what the Spirit of God is teaching
me. One night I fell asleep and after a few hours I began
hearing the sweetest songs of praise and worship from
heaven and somehow I knew the host of heaven were
praising and worshipping God and so I have to wake up and
joined in the worship from my room. Most part of my book
is base on what the Holy Spirit taught me and instructed me
to write. I quiet remember that on the day I completed my
first book and decided to take a break for some months so I
went to sit outside relaxing and enjoying the breeze then the
Holy Spirit started ministering to me about a book I have to
start writing so I left where I was to go for pen and book
from my room and started writing. Wow that was fast I
guess. In writing this book, the Holy Spirit instructed me
write down what I am learning pertaining to the office of the
prophet so that others like me will gain understanding about
their journey and I told the Holy Spirit that I am just but a
young prophet now growing and I don’t think that I have

47
Prince Mensah

what it takes to write a book after the office of a prophet in

which I am still gaining understanding but the Holy Spirit
made me understand the harm and the struggle I will cause
to other young and up-coming prophets if I don’t write this
book. I then told the Holy Spirit that I know there are a lot
of books on the office of the prophet so why is there a need
for another one and He said that have I forgotten that no two
prophets have the same commission? And since they have
different commission and message, their books will convey
different revelations and informations that people who will
read their books will know. So that led me to write this
book and I am amazed about the short duration I used in
writing this book.

Rick Joyner is a prophet who has continuously received

training from the heavenly realm. When you read his books,
you will identify that he has come into contact with Jesus,
angels, Adam, Abel, Lot, Enoch, Elijah, Jonah, etc and these
people actually tought Rick and gave him messages to
convey to this world.

So you; up-coming prophet of God, get tune to the Holy

Spirit, pray, study the scriptures and grow.

I was introduced to the second aspect of training by my

pastor Samuel Ahiabah. It is highly adviceable for all up-
coming prophets to have a pastor that will pastor you unto
maturity. Pastor Sammy adviced me to read all the prophetic
books I can lay hands on and listen to tapes and as well as
attend any prophetic mentorship teaching school for

48
The Journey of the Prophet

prophets and this led me to gain a lot of additional

knowledge which have been very helpful to me in my
growing process.

Another aspect of my training involves what I call A.S.K.

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find;

knock, and it shall be opened unto you” Matt 7:7

The “A” stands for “asking”. This involves praying without

ceasing and requesting for wisdom on how to accomplish
your mission as a commissioned prophet. This office is the
office of prayer and you can not be in this office without
praying because it is with prayer that we speak to God. You
can never be someone spokesman without speaking with the
person. I advice you to have a personal prayer time in which
you can speak to divinity for the purpose of humanity.

The “S” stands for “seeking”. This involves searching and

acquiring knowledge from the word of God. The bible is the
sure word of prophecy and if a prophet is not able to handle
the written word of God, how then can he handle the spoken
word of God.

“And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me;

and, lo, a roll of a book was therein; And he spread it before
me; and it was written within and without: and there was
written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe” Eze
2:9-10

“Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou

49
Prince Mensah

findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel.”
Eze 3:1

Prophet Ezekiel was given a scroll to eat so that out of the

abundance of the word of God in his heart, his mouth will
speak forth the word as the Lord directs. I know without a
doubt that knowing the word of God is very essential in this
office and if any prophets rely on the word, when tongues
cease and prophecy fails, that prophet will never pass away
because the word of God will never pass away even when
everything is passing away. So seek the word of God every
day and grow in love and in the prophetic.

The “K” stands for “knocking”. This involves making use

of the opportunities given you by God to minister
prophetically.

“Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is

given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to
the proportion of faith” Rom 12:6

Faithful is He that calls you to the office of the prophet and

He has commissioned you and gave you the prophetic
mantle to operate and so if God gives you a word, speak it
out to the respective audience. The messages you receive are
not for you. You are not a prophet to yourself but to the
people so anytime you get to a door, knock and enter. I
started using my gift of prophecy during prayer meeting
time and whenever I am speaking to someone about Christ. I
try to speak the message of God out or post it on facebook

or whatsapp so that people will read and be blessed.

A young prophet friend of mine once shared a dream with

me that he saw himself with me and other men and women
of God in a large hall and someone asked him why does he
not use his spiritual gifts in ministrying to people and why is
he not doing the job God gave him and in his dream he
answered the man that he was waiting for the right time but
the man adviced him to go and do the work God has given
him.

Many young prophets are waiting for bigger congregation or

bigger opportunities and they end up missing the chance to
practice with smaller congregation or smaller opportunities
God has given them.

“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord

rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in
Zerubbabel’s hand” Zech 4:10a NLT

CHAPTER SIX
TAKE HEED

“And say to Archippus, Take heed to the ministry which thou hast
received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it” Col 4:17

Complete your ministry

The Lord has called you to be His prophet and it is your
responsibility to take heed to do the work He has given you
faithfully. Some people were called into this office but
because of friends, family, education, jobs and other canal
things, they negelect the work of God. It is true that the
calling of God is irrevocable but when a prophets fails to do
the work he is given, his commission will be taken and
given to another person. Prophet Rick Joyner said when he

52
The Journey of the Prophet

was failing to go back into ministry and giving himself

excuses that he need to work and accumulate a lot of money
before going back into minister, God sent different prophets
to warn him that if he doesn’t go back, his commission will
be given to someone else.

“And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that

shall humble himself shall be exalted” Matt 23:12

“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God,

that he may exalt you in due time” 1 Peter 5:6

Be Humble
The secret to be a great prophet is humility. When you are
humble, God will elevate you among your peers. You can
choose to be the chief prophet on earth and become the least
in heaven or you can choose to be the least among prophets
on earth and become great in heaven.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto
thine own understanding” Proverbs 3:5

Total dependency on God

Prophets speaks what God is saying and if God does not
speak, the prophet has nothing so say so all prophets must
totally depend on God in their operation and completion of
their mission. Jesus said, He only did what He saw His
Father doing so should we the prophet do because it is very
dangerous to venture into doing what God has not ask you to
do.

53
Prince Mensah

“Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my

covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all
people: for all the earth is mine” Exo 19:5

“But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of
God, and keep it” Luke 11:28

Be Obedient
The prophet is not above the word of God that he speaks. To
God favourite prophet, you have to obey God and speak
when He ask you to speak and be quiet when He ask you to
be silent. Prophet Jonah was swallowed by a whale. He
spent three days and three nights in the belly of the whale
because he disobeyed God by refusing to go to Nineveh
when the Lord sent him there.

“And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail
against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee”
Jer 1:19

“And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of

their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost
dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be
dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house” Eze
2:6

Fear not
Prophets are God spokesmen and since the Lord watches
over His word that proceeds out of the mouth of His
prophets, how much more will He not guide or protect His

54
The Journey of the Prophet

prophets. Prophets have many enermies and in these last

days anyone who is on the Lord side will be hated more but
the Lord is saying that fear not and don’t be afraid for He is
our God and our defender. He said He will not let our
enermies laugh for long because He is turning them in our
foot stool and He the Lord will strengthern us as we
continue to serve Him faithfully. Be encourage, be of good
cheer, trust in Me and you will prosper, says the Lord.

“He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love” 1 John
4:8

“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have
not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all
mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that
I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing” 1
Cor 13:1-2

Walk in Love
God is love and anyone who does not love does not know
God and if you don’t know God, you can not speak for Him.
If you really want to continue speaking for the Lord, walk in
love. If you really want your ministry to make a difference,
walk in love. If you want your word of prophecy to bring
live and blessing instead of guilt, pain, shame and death,
walk in love. The revelational gifts and the vocal gifts are
nothing without love. Seek love, find love, walk in love and
be lost in the love of God.

55
Prince Mensah

“Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy
not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy
deceits” Isaiah 30:10

Live to please God alone

The bible says that in the last days, people will get for
themselves teachers according to their liking who will teach
them what they want to hear but not what the Lord is telling
them.

Prophet Isaiah was told not to see again and not to prophecy
what is right to them.

Prophet Amos was instructed to go back to his home town

and stop prophesizing. Beloved, are you spokesmen for
humans or you are a spokesman for God? God has giving
you instruction to do something His way and since other
men are requesting you do it the other way, you chose to
disobey God with an excuse that the voice of the people is
the voice of God. Becareful, you are a prophet, God’s
chosen vessel and your desire is to please God alone even if
everyone on earth will hate you for that.

“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but

that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister
grace unto the hearers” Eph 4:29

“And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not

shout, nor make any noise4 with your voice, neither shall any
word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout;
then shall ye shout” Josh 6:10

56
The Journey of the Prophet

Speak Life and Grace not Death and Disgrace

The mouth of every prophet of God is for serving the Lord
so we must ensure that no corrupt or vain word comes out
from our mouth. The power of life and death rest on the
tongue in the mouth and mostly any decree a prophet makes,
come to pass. Some prophets reveal disgracegul
informations about a person to the whole church and these
leds to some Christian vowing never to step in church again.
Please know that all word of knowledge or word of wisdom
are to build up, encourage and draw the person closer to
God but not to push them off so when ever you receive a
word, speak with wisdom.

Do not manipulate people

The Holy Spirit is in every believer and He ministers to
them personally so if you get any message, speak it out and
allow God to fulfill the message. Don’t force people to obey
your prophesy and don’t try to change someone’s decision
with your spiritual gifts. We simply speak for God and God
makes sure His word performs the purpose by which it was
spoken. We can never be wiser than God so let’s do our part
and allow God to do His.

“And Balak sent yet again princes, more, and more honourable
than they. And they came to Balaam, and said to him, Thus saith
Balak the son of Zippor, Let nothing, I pray thee, hinder thee
from coming unto me: For I will promote thee unto very great
honour, and I will do whatsoever thou sayest unto me: come

57
Prince Mensah

therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people. And Balaam

answered and said unto the servants of Balak, If Balak would
give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the
word of the LORD my God, to do less or more” Num 22:15-18

Don’t Prophesize for Favour

Jesus said, “Freely ye receive, freely ye give”. As prophets,
we are to prophesize to anyone God wants to speak to
irrespective of the person’s race, financial statues or
anything.

The King promised prophet Balaam worth and riches bur as

the Lord told him not to prophesize to the Israelites but bless
them and that is what prophet Balaam did.

Take heed to follow these ten points and have a great

journey. God bless you in Jesus’ name.
