ASSESSMENT 3
Student Instructions
Before you commence your Assessment, ensure that you have sufficient knowledge of
the subject, have thoroughly read your Learner workbook, and clearly understand the
Assessment requirements and the expectations of the Assessor.
You may be required to demonstrate knowledge and skills which may be difficult for
the Assessor to witness. If so, an Evidence Record is supplied which will allow
the knowledge or skill to be verified by at least one third party, and preferably two or
more. These witnesses would usually be current or recent supervisors or your
Assessor.
Explanations are given for each Task. If you have any questions, consult with
your Assessor.
The assessment tasks may be answered using your workplace, the simulated business
or a mixture of both as instructed by your Assessor.
Assessment Conditions
All assessments in this subject/unit must be completed in the class under the
supervision of your facilitator. Once completed the assessments are to be uploaded on
LMS (www.kiionline.edu.au) in individual student profile for marking.
o All assessments must be attempted

o All questions must be answered in an appropriate manner as per the
requirements.
o Follow the Assessor’s instructions to complete the assessments
Assessment Grading
Individual assessments are to be marked as “Satisfactory” or “Not Yet satisfactory”. The

final outcome of this subject/unit is to be recorded in “Unit outcome Record” as
“competent” (C) or “Not Yet Competent” (NYC) and/or in LMS. In order to be competent
in a given unit of competency the student must satisfactorily complete all assessment
tasks and. If more than one unit of competency are clustered to form a subject, the
students are still required to attempt all assessments.

General Information for this assessment:
 Read the instructions for each question very carefully.
 Be sure to PRINT your FULL name & LAST name in every place that is provided.
 Short questions must be answered in the spaces provided or follow the word limits as instructed.
 For those activities requesting extra evidence such as: research reports, ESSAY reports, etc. The student
must attach its own work formatted in double space, Arial 12 pts.
 All assessment tasks must be addressed correctly in order to obtain a competence for the unit of
competency.
 If the Student doesn’t understand the assessment, they can request help from the assessor to interpret
the assessment.
 All assessments must be submitted online. Login to www.kiionline.edu.au and follow the subject link to
submit your assessments. Note that the hard copy of the assessments will not be accepted.
Re-assessment of Result& Academic Appeal procedures:
If a student is not happy with his/ her results, that student may appeal against their grade via a written letter,
clearly stating the grounds of appeal to the Operations Manager. This should be submitted after completion of the
subject and within fourteen days of commencement of the new term.
Re-assessment Process:
 An appeal in writing is made to the Operations Manager providing reasons for re-assessment /appeal.
 Operations Manager will delegate another faculty member to review the assessment.
 The student will be advised of the review result done by another assessor.
 If the student is still not satisfied and further challenges the decision, then a review panel is formed
comprising the lecturer/trainer in charge and the Operations Manager OR if need be an external assessor.
 The Institute will advise the student within 14 days from the submission date of the appeal. The decision
of the panel will be deemed to be final.
 If the student is still not satisfied with the result, the he / she has the right to seek independent
advice or follow external mediation option with nominated mediation agency.
 Any student who fails a compulsory subject or appeals unsuccessfully will be required to re-enrol in
that subject.
The cost of reassessment will be borne by the Institute. The external assessor will base his/her judgement based
on principles of assessment. These principles require assessment to be reliable, fair, practical and valid.
Academic Appeals
 If you are dissatisfied with the outcome of the re-evaluation process, you have a right to appeal through
academic appeals handling protocol.
 To appeal a decision, the person is required to complete the KII- Request for Appeal of a Decision form with
all other supporting documents, if any. This form is available via our website. The completed
Request for Appeal form is to be submitted to the Student Support Officer either in hard copy or
electronically via the following contact details:

 The notice of appeal should be in writing addressed to the Operations Manager and submitted within seven
days of notification of the outcome of the re-evaluation process.
 If the appeal is not lodged in the specified time, the result will stand and you must re-enrol in the unit.
 In emergency circumstances, such as in cases of serious illness or injury, you must forward a medical
certificate in support of a deferred appeal. The notice of appeal must be made within three working days
of the concluding date shown on the medical certificate.
 The decision of Operations Manager will be final.
 Student would then have the right to pursue the claim through an independent external body as
detailed
in the students’ complaint / grievance policy.

Instructions
This Assessment Task is designed for you to demonstrate that you can develop
an e-commerce website based on a client’s business requirements website
design documentation.
This Assessment has one (1) part which covers the abilities required to develop a
website to meet a client’s requirements and based on design documentation.
Develop and test the Website
TASK A Develop digital application:
In this task you are required to develop the web application so that it meets the
design specifications and the stakeholders expectations.
TASK 3B – Deploy application on web server
In this part B you are required to deploy the application on webserver and make it
live.
Task C – Test industry requirements
In Part C, you need to undertake industry validation for HTML5, CSS and
accessibility standards.
Task D – Test cross-browser compatibility
In Part D, you need to undertake cross-browser compatibility testing for 3 web

browsers and undertake remedial actions for any identified issues.

Assessment 3
This is an individual Assessment in which you will be assessed on your own
contribution. All tasks are mandatory and must be attempted. Refer to the
provided Case Study for the detailed Design Brief.
Your assessor will play the role of any of the stakeholders if you require
clarification about any of the activities or the design brief, and for signing off
purposes.
TASK 3A – DEVELOP DIGITAL APPLICATION
Based on the provided scenario, the agreed upon requirements and the signed
off designs, develop the website so that it meets the requirements previously
identified. Analyse all organisational procedures that may apply to
the development and implementation of your web application.
Before you get started, you must prepare the development environment to
work with your digital application. Download the latest version of WordPress
from the vendor website. Use XAMPP (with Apache and MySQL) to load
WordPress according to vendor guidelines. You must create a new database
instance using PhpMyAdmin to work with WordPress. Configure and test the
WordPress installation using a browser of your choice.
Develop your digital application to include the following components:
1. A specific theme is applied and used throughout the website that meets the
given designs and includes the company’s logo.

2. Relevant plugins are installed, activated and configured accordingly.

These may include server tools such as E-commerce, Web Forms, Cloning and
Deployment, Hosting Performance Monitoring and SEO plugins.
3. Navigation menu allows access to all other web pages in the website
(excepting the privacy page that can be provided in every web page footer).
4. Relevant subject categories have been developed as per the requirements

(information technology, business, community service, etc.)

5. All courses identified based on the Case Study have been implemented with
text and images. You must upload or import the courses using a CSV where
applicable, using built-in features of your server tools or plugins.
6. Website has been designed to be usable in the following resolutions:

the client organisation and to the design specifications including relevant privacy
information is specified.
TASK 3B – DEPLOY APPLICATION ON WEB SERVER
You will be provided with details of the web hosting server and access
credentials by your facilitator. Follow the instructions of your facilitator
carefully when deploying your digital application, including WHS practices.
You must implement the following elements below:
1. Use a server tool such as FTP client or WordPress cloning plugin to deploy
your digital application on to the designated web server directory.

2. Review the configurations of the web server and your digital application to
ensure that they can work together. Adjust these configurations as necessary to
ensure full compatibility.
3. Review web hosting and page load performance using the plugins or server

tools that you have implemented previously.
4. Check the SEO status of your website using the plugins or server tools that
you have implemented previously.

5. Conduct 3 mock transactions on your website using the E-commerce features

that you have implemented. Generate a financial or sales report of all
transactions completed using the built-in features of your plugins or server tools.
This may be in the form of Excel or CSV file.
TASK 3C – TEST INDUSTRY REQUIREMENTS
You need to produce a report showing how every web page in your website has
been validated against the following W3C standards:

You should use the W3C online validation tools for checking the HTML5 and CSS
standards and use a tool of your choice for checking accessibility standards for
WCAG 2.0 to Level AA.
Note that you are not required to fix any issues identified at this stage, just
provide documentation reports with “screen shots” to show that each web page
has been validated against the 3 standards.
TASK 3D – TEST CROSS-BROWSER COMPATIBILITY
You need to produce a report showing how every web page in your website has
undertaken cross-browser compatibility testing using the latest version of the
following web browsers:
 Google Chrome
 Mozilla Firefox
 Microsoft Edge
For each web browser, you must test the following web pages for compatibility
and functionality:

Using the integrated “developer tools” available in the browser of your choice,
you must test the following resolutions to confirm responsiveness:

Create a Test Log Table (based on the example shown below) to record the
test results for each of the web browsers, for each page and specified screen
resolution.
