Concept Notes:
News is packaged information about new events happening somewhere else which aims to inform
readers of what is happening both in their communities and around the world.
A speech is a form of communication in spoken language, made by a speaker before an audience for a
given purpose (to inform, to persuade, to entertain, or to inspire).
An informative speech is one that intends to educate the audience on a particular topic.
A panel discussion is a discussion in which few persons (the panel) carry on conversation in front of the
audience. The general purpose of a panel discussion is to explore a subject for information and not
necessarily to advocate a course of action.
Task 1: Watch the news reports entitled “Duterte OK’s MECQ for NCR and nearby provinces” and “Aklan Now

1. What are the differences between the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) and Modified Enhanced
Community Quarantine (MECQ); and between Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) and
General Community Quarantine (GCQ)?
2. Are you allowed to go to Malacañang Park to jog now that Metro Manila has returned to MECQ?
3. Write a short paragraph about your original plans for this school year and how you feel about things
not going as planned. Then, come up with a list of at least 5 activities that you can do alone or with
your family to make your online learning fun and exciting even under community quarantine.

cooperation. Interpret the message and make realizations on the impact of the contents to oneself, to fellows

problems? How can this value be of help in facing the unseen enemy, the Corona Virus, which is
