1. Define and elaborate the word culture in your previous knowledge.
Flexible. Dynamic. Foundation. The best words for me that describe
culture. Apparently, as a third year college student this isn’t new to me and I can
still clearly recall what I’ve learned from the previous year.
Culture is, without a doubt, flexible. It is subject to alter over time. People will
pick up new skills and apply them on a daily basis, and this will become ingrained
in our culture. We exchange thoughts and ideas with others through socialization,
and we accept something into it as a result. As a direct consequence, new symbols,
conventions, and language emerge, demonstrating that culture is dynamic.
Without culture, we would not be who we are today. It's the foundation on
which we've built our lives. It's pointless to live if you don't live with culture.
Culture gives our life a splash of color. Every now and again, we can appreciate
tidbits of culture that can be passed on to future generations.

1. What is the significance of understanding culture in this
contemporary world?
We are living in a diverse world. We are accustomed with different
traditions, norms, rituals, and a lot more. We are not just divided by
boundaries, we also have different principles and laws.
Come to think of it, have you ever wondered by there are a lot of war
in early years? Multiple bombings, killings, and racism. It is because we
lived in a world where superiority is complex. In order to reach the peak,
you will do whatever it takes to reach it. And the result? Chaos.
We have gone through many uphill battle. At this point of time where
modernization takes place, let culture be the key of oneness.
Understanding culture create a big impact in reaching peace and
harmony in our society.
Respect will return to the giver when it is earned. Respecting each
other differences, race and norms will not just bring utmost armistice in
the country but in the whole world. Culture speaks for all of us. It needs
to be treasured to reflect a significant social change.

1. In what way culture affects one’s personality?
The basic foundation of a society is the family. In that unit, the family
will influence and mold the younger once how to behave and act
accordingly. Although some people believe that we have complete control
over our personalities, the reality is that our personalities are influenced
by a variety of factors outside our control.
Other people have the ability to mold our personalities. Our personalities
might be influenced by our surroundings. Even sicknesses and toxins have
the ability to alter our personalities.
In a similar vein, culture, religion, and ethnicity can all have an affect
on our personality. As a matter of fact, culture has an impact on how we
learn, live, and act. Say for example, Filipino are very helpful. We always
extend hand to other who are in need. That already became our culture.
Like a corollary, many psychologists feel that culture has a significant
impact on our personalities. Individuals' interpretations of a particular
event may change from culture to culture. Therefore, it is important that
we incorporate our understanding of how culture is related to individual
differences in behavior.

Reflecting
In this lesson, I have learned that our country has a diverse cultural
past that should be celebrated, studied, and adopted. It is vital at this time
for students to study what kind of culture existing in the past and to
understand that culture is adaptive and may evolve for future generations.
Despite the reality that human instinct may quickly learn and apply
a particular entity's culture, some activities are intended to be
destructive. Given the fact that it is common sense to eradicate this
concept in order to reduce poverty among indigenous people, some
subcultures continue to do so.
Bayanihan, traditional weddings, christams, and Ramadan are
examples of beliefs, rituals, and customs that we hold dear and continue to
follow today. Culture is not just a word hence, it’s the embodiment of
human soul. As a student, it is vital that you embrace our culture. Let us
not forget our origins, and let culture be our foundation and flourish as
youth.
