Episode 4

The school is one of the most important institutions in human societies. The purpose for
which the school was established can only be achieved through effective administration.
Effective administration of a school helps to bring about optimum achievement of its purpose
and objectives. However, one of the important aspects of school administration is record-
keeping. Record-keeping is very important in school administration because it affects all other
aspects of school life, such as planning, budgeting, staffing, facilities, discipline, etc. School
records serve as a document containing customs and traditions that guide teachers and school
administrators on a regular basis.Equally, school records serve as a data bank from which
information can be retrieved as needed. Teachers and school administrators deal with many
issues and problems on a daily basis. Therefore, up-to-date records of such issues and events
enable the staff, school head, inspectors or supervisors, parents, researchers, etc. to refer to such
records on demand when the need arises. In school administration, keeping and managing
records is one of the important responsibilities of the school head. To effectively manage human
and material resources in relation to the issue of school policies and the day-to-day running of
the school, the school administrator relies on the information in records. The pattern of
recordkeeping is a life cycle that begins with the creation, storage, retrieval, retention, and, of
course, disposition of the records.

The importance of record-keeping in schools cannot be overemphasized. This is because,


apart from the significance of each record, there is a great value in keeping school records. The
main reason to implement record-keeping in the classroom is for organization. Being a well-
organized teacher allows one to spend more time focusing on the lessons and the students. A
teacher will likely apply a record-keeping system to their grades, correspondences with parents,
daily attendance, and other student-related forms and paperwork. Document management system
software will allow them to create a system that makes these files easily accessible and
manageable. At the start of each year, a teacher will also likely have a schedule of all the topics
and lessons they will cover over the course of the school year. Keeping all those worksheets
organized can be a tall order without the proper system. Record-keeping will allow them to
organize lessons and the appropriate worksheets in their respective folders. They could also
organize them with a calendar so that they are completely prepared as the year moves along. In
addition, many teachers hand out their syllabus in addition to their own classroom policies at the
beginning of each school year. These are likely unique to each educator and include the policies
of the school as well. Having these policies organized and readily available for each student
allows them and their families to better understand and adhere to them. They will likely include
their policies on turning in make-up work, how attendance can affect grading, if there are ways
to earn extra credit, and other important rules. Finally, keeping an organized record-keeping
system allows for better and easier collaboration among other teachers in the department and
throughout the school.Teachers can compare notes, share resources, and ensure that everyone is
on track. It helps with consistency and even facilitates the quality of education one is able to
provide the students.  

Conclusively, record-keeping in schools is necessary because, without keeping records,


there cannot be an effective administration with regard to the human, material, and financial
aspects of the school. The task is therefore on the head teacher to ensure the availability of
adequate records, the proper keeping of the records, and the maintenance of those records in the
school. This is because keeping records serves as a bank of information to be used and referred
to when needed.
Episode 5

The importance of cleanliness in the school is to provide a healthy and safe environment
for students. There are many issues related to hygiene that students and school employees have
to face every day. Germs and bacteria are a part of life. Especially when discussing kids, most of
those can even harm them for life or affect the social and economic well-being of the school. As
the facility manager, the principal, or even the teacher of a school, they need to make sure that
the school building always stays clean. From classrooms and hallways to the cafeteria and
administrative offices, they and their staff must maintain the cleanliness in their school every
day. For many students and teachers, they spend most of their time at school. So, maintaining
cleanliness in school is vital for many reasons.

Creating an environment that is conducive to teaching means ensuring lecture halls,


classrooms, study areas, and living areas are all kept clean and tidy. Messy and dirty classes not
only present a poor image, but they can also be distracting and negatively impact the pride
students have in their school. What if the school fails to provide a clean environment? It means
the school fails to provide the basic needs for the health and success of their students. Schools
not only impart knowledge but also play a significant role in shaping the personality of an
individual. What a student learns in school is not just confined to the four walls of a classroom;
the whole school environment is a source of knowledge. Apart from education, a student learns
lessons of discipline, honesty, and cleanliness from school. Therefore, a school needs to maintain
a hygienic atmosphere. Additionally, most people can study and work effectively with clutter
surrounding them, but some people prefer a tidy, organized workspace. Students are no different.
In an organized space, students can think in a more organized manner, leading to enhanced
learning. A recent study highlighted the relationship between cleanliness and learning. The
researchers polled college students, asking them which of four levels of cleanliness they
preferred when learning. 80% of students reportedly became distracted by moderate inattention
to cleanliness in their learning environment. Simple things like upswept floors, the buildup of
dirt in corners, and smudge marks on surfaces were distracting. According to the researchers,
84% of the study participants preferred "orderly sputtering."Also, when the students get sick, the
teacher and staff do too. Keeping the school clean can help slow the spread of illness and reduce
the number of students and teachers who fall ill. The flu virus can live on surfaces for 48 hours
after it is deposited, infecting students who touch that surface. Simple cleaning and organization
are not enough in this case. The cleaning staff must use disinfectant cleaners that kill germs on
surfaces.

With that being said, thoughts on how to keep the school clean will differ from person to
person. While a lot of people think that cleanliness is just on the surface, it needs to go beyond
that. High standards of cleanliness need to be maintained not only by janitorial services but by
teachers and students as well.
Episode 6

Taking a class outside of the classroom can enhance the learning outcomes of any course
by showcasing course content as it exists in the world. In many ways, these learning experiences
can answer questions like "how does this apply to me and others?" and "what does this look like
in real life?" As students engage with class concepts beyond the four walls of the classroom, they
often experiment more confidently with applying different learning processes and, as a result,
become active observers and researchers in their own right.

While nuancing content is often a central component of getting students outside of the
classroom, there are other benefits as well. For example, experiences that introduce students to
the industries connected to their disciplines can motivate them to stick with their respective fields
and persist through difficult college coursework. This is especially true for education students
who are getting acquainted with the subject for the first time. There is also a relational aspect to
outside learning experiences, as they give students and instructors an opportunity to interact in
more informal and meaningful ways. From the ride there to the ride home, students and
instructors can enhance their interpersonal and team-building skills. Taking the class out in
variable environments fosters a learning model where everyone has to contribute and different
student strengths rise to the surface and benefit the group in dynamic ways. On a broader level,
learning experiences outside of the classroom can act as interdisciplinary sites of engagement
where students are encouraged to use knowledge from different classes and integrate it into their
analysis of what is going on around them. The experience outside of the classroom allows for
students to think critically about, for example, resources and sustainability, power and privilege,
and complex societal issues as they surface in real-world contexts and interactions. Because of
this, immersive experiences can challenge stereotypes and assumptions that students might hold
and encourage them to become more self-reflective learners.

Field study is experiential, with the associated values and challenges that experiential
learning carries with it. What many studies have shown is that field study has benefits in both the
cognitive domain and the affective domain. That is, a field study usually increases learning
outcomes concerning the course material itself as well as having a positive impact on the
student’s perception of the learning experience. Students report these too, many with an
appreciation, even an excitement, that was instilled by the experience in field study. Although
students want to know what's in store for them prior to the field study, many also want to be
surprised by the new vantage point that comes from the time outside of the classroom and
express a desire for instructors to maintain an "exploratory" air to the excursion. In other words,
they suggest that they be challenged for self-discovery, noting that some amount of unplanned
time can go a long way towards achieving the learning goals of a field excursion.
