PONGTUD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
I. INTRODUCTION
As Dr. Seuss said “The more you read the more things you will know. The more
that you learn, the more places that you will go”. For all knows, Reading is a tool a person
gets information from written letters and words. We can say that reading is one of the very
important element of education. Understanding what we are reading is a key and is certainly
the main point of teaching reading in class.
But the beginning of 2020 has seen millions of lives turned upside down due to the
global outbreak of COVID-19. As more and more children are being forced to stay at home
from school, the risk of students becoming disengaged from or deprived entirely of their
education is higher than ever. As an institution of learning, a school need to challenge itself to
prosper the love of reading in every pupils. Pongtud Elementary School teachers
encourage students to engaged in this reading program amidst pandemic to combat illiteracy
during this challenging time.
Across the globe, students have been away from schools and their
teachers but literacy has continued.
Pongtud Elementary School teachers continue providing
educational support especially reading to the pupils of pongtud.
With the help of our dear Reading Volunteers and Stakeholders,
PES continue to provide learning to the children of pongtud despite the
crisis that we encounter nowadays. We continue to achieve the goal of
PROJECT EARN which composes the Project CRISP and Project ART.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Reading Teacher’s must:
1. Update themselves with the modern techniques, methods and strategies in
teaching reading with comprehension.
2. Give ample chance and encourage pupils to articulate their ideas. (ex. Story,
retelling, debate or smart-talking)
3. Exert effort to assist slow learners.
4. Have a peer-tutoring sessions.
5. Develop the pupils ability to answer Why and How questions or HOTS.
6. Most of all have the heart of being a mother to pupils to guide themto read well
and develop reading skills.
