I. TITLE:

SCHOOL-BASED TRAINING ON GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT


CUM FINANCIAL LITERACY

II. OBJECTIVES:
A. Terminal Objective:
To capacitate teachers and staff with the Gender and Development (GAD)
mandates, and be aware of their rights, benefits and privileges as employees
and skills in handling money.
B. Enabling Objectives:
The participants are expected to:
1. to promote a culture of gender-sensitive workforce and workplace;
2. to strengthen gender and development in every school;
3. to update teacher-participants on the emerging trends and issues
concerning their rights and opportunities as employees.
4. To learn techniques how to mange their finances and gain financial
freedom.
III. RATIONALE:

Gender equality emanates out of the advancement of human rights and


is fundamentally related to sustainable development. It is also a fundamental
aspect of democratic citizenship. It belongs to the basic and universally
recognized civil, cultural, economic, political and social rights. Infringement
of such rights hinders societies from achieving the goals and benefits of
development. In the workplace, measures that ensure equitable access to
resources and basic services have been institutionalized, thus, school
administrators and teachers have to be gender responsive to the needs of
women and children.

With that, the Department of Education (DepEd) as an institution of


learning emphasizes the importance of having a gender-sensitive and gender-
responsive environment for its teachers and learners alike.

To promote this endeavor, the San Nicolas National High School


wishes to conduct a three-day seminar for its teachers and non-teaching
personnel in order to make them aware of the gender and family issues, be
sensitive to the to their rights and privileges and be responsive to the needs of
everyone in the workplace.

IV. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:


The seminar-training will focus primarily on capacitating teachers with the
basic gender and development mandates and laws. This enable the teachers to
keep abreast with the updates on human resources related matters and their
benefits and privileges as government employees. Basic financial literacy will also
be discussed. The seminar-training will be carried out through lecture and
discussion type through the use of visual presentations.

a. Content Knowledge and Pedagogy
This Training -Workshop will help teachers gain knowledge on the GAD
mandates, laws and gender issues and biased that will serve as their
guide/basis in integrating gender concepts in their respective lessons/learning
areas.
b. Personal Growth and Professional Development.

This Training-Workshop will capacitate the teachers on the GAD


mandates, law and basis which will help the teachers develop and promote a
gender-sensitive environment not only in the classrooms but in the workplace
as a whole.

IX. MODALITY
The modality to be used are lectures with the aid of 21 st century gadgets and
workshop. The participants will submit their outputs on the day of awarding.

The school-based Gender and Development Cum Financial Literacy training-

IV. ASSESSMENT PLAN


The school-based training workshop will be evaluated through onsite
monitoring and evaluation by the division office and the process observation tool.
The teacher-participants will be given a questionnaire survey form for them to
evaluate the venue, accommodation and the speakers as well.
