What are they all about?

List + Article = Listicle
Listicles is defined as an article structured into a list.
It is an article that is structured into a list, at times these works would be
fleshed out with additional text relating to each item from their chosen
topic.
These lists would categorize writings into multiple sub-topics that may or
may not be supported with short paragraphs.
In other words, Listicles are non-fictional Pseudo-articles.

Aim to present it's readers, a compiled list of information
without it being formatted to look like a textbook.
The text provides readers a brief synopsis and some reasons as
to why they will be engaged into the chosen topic.

It aims to share its readers a list of recommended products that
may suit the reader’s interests/style.
The listicle would start off with its main idea as the header and
the text below it, provides possible affiliate links to justify their
preference for this product.

Educational Listicles
It aims to share a list of facts that could help them learn or
strengthen their knowledge on an academically-related topic.
Some writers highlight certain words that are easy to memorize
then insert the term as a heading, and add its details (meaning)
in the online or handwritten text.

It aims to break down a complex topic into a few simple steps.
These listicles aim to teach the reader on possible
methods/steps that could help them identify a solution for their
problems or strengthen their skills at a certain activity.

Toast | McCormick (Published: October 24, 2022)

How-To Listicles Example:
Both the Main terms and its points
were already merged into a header
altogether.
A few minor details were also added like
with the ingredients- the publisher added
the photos of its brand's products, so that
the reader can look for it in the grocery.

Opinion Listicles
It aims to enable the writer to share his/her viewpoints on a certain
topic, without necessarily specializing in giving critique about it-
making points based on his/her understanding.
These listicles can be made out of the blue, with little to no research
sources, and with a kick of bias behavior on the side

this opinion-listicle used videos to
justify her points.
The name of the Idols in the article
were the headers, while the points
explaining why she ranked them at that

1. Advice-related Listicles - These media-created works are often written by someone with firsthand experiences
regarding the topic at hand, and it aims to offer a solution to an uncomfortable situation that one had encountered.

2. Analytical Listicles - These works usually tries to deliver clarity into complex topics; Often published by
researchers, multimedia journalists, full-time statistical professionals, or political analysts

How Can I Write a Listicle

1. Brainstorm on a topic that interests you. - Choose to talk about a subject that you had been engaged to for
quite some time, use this stage to also identify the angle that you're aiming your pitched-in idea to tackle on
2. Define and Research on your topic. - Research through the internet/books to create your own perspective.
3. Identify your unique perspective on the topic. - After gathering knowledge on the topic, ponder on your prior
experiences and re-evaluate if you really want to write about the identified subject.
4.Create a specific title that tells the reader what to expect. - Have your own flair to the title, be innovative, but
also think if your targeted readers will be engaged to knowing more about your listicle through its title.
5.Draft your Listicle. - (If possible) do more research your topic to validate your points.
6.List your main points, but keep them short. - Why do you think this part of the listicle matters?

7.Start things off with an engaging introduction to the topic. - Explain why you decided to write about your
topic - of course, with your own unique style of writing.
8.Finalize and write out your points. - Provide the reader with enough information to understand what you're
trying to say - but NOT everything.
9.(If applicable) provide a short explanation for each of your points - Keep the additional sentences minimal.
10.(If applicable) Organize your points - Make sure that your listicle is written in a logical order.
11.Insert Media-related images that justify your points (Ex: GIFs) - Use a photo that directly relates to your
points.
12. End things off with a conclusion. - End your listicle with a bang; a lasting impression.

Why are Listicles a part of Literature

Listicles had been highly appreciated by readers and
writers alike, for its unique format of writing, that aims to
appeal an audience in deciding whether to be engaged to
know more about a generalized topic or not. (Cognitive
fluency)
Furthermore, many readers see comfort in the structure of
listicles, as it is not time-consuming to read, and because
the numbers of these listicles serve as a trail to the reader
in knowing how many items would be in them.

Why are Listicles a part of Literature

Surprisingly, listicles can also help us remember information necessary for one's
own benefit. Evidently, we might not remember the content of each item (within a
listicle) but we will not forget the header of these items as it enables us to recall
the actual facts.
Listicles can also help an aspiring new writer find and express their voice to an
audience by identifying what they want to write about and how they would structure
it - in the easiest ways. This is due to the fact that, certain readers would not finish a
book in one seating, but with listicles - if done right (short and organized) - they may
certainly appeal to the world of online browsing and procrastination.

What are my opinions on Listicles?

1. Listicles are convenient time-Savers
These types of non-fictional outlets, are definitely most suitable to a busy individual with not
enough time to spare for reading books - but having a rest with a quick listicle read.
2. Listicles are short; however, its information can open a reader's thinking hat to go beyond.
These pseudo-lists and articles are simple and extremely skimmable- yet, its simplified
curation of things, somehow works to entice the public eye.
3. Listicles can also help us develop character and help us get out of our shell.
As listicles contain a wide variety of sections to choose from (Informational, How-To, etc.) - it may
definitely enable an individual to dig deeper on a topic that they've encountered and slowly find
themselves and what they could like and enjoy as a hobby.
