Minutes of the First statement of school address (sosa)


and general pta meeting

Date: September 9, 2022


Time: 8:30 A.M.
Venue: Tigwi National High School (School Quadrangle)

 Performance of the school year 2021-2022;
 Utilization of the school’s MOOE;
 New Goals for 2023
 School Rules and Policies
 Other Matters

Having the first statement of the school address and general PTA Meeting is important to
inform everyone about the progress and development, the needs and plans of the school. It also
aims to inform stakeholders on the utilization of school MOOE.
Participants to this activity are parents, PTA President, SGC President, Alumni President,
LGUs, teachers and other stakeholders. Teachers are assigned to assist parents for their
attendance and the said program as well, for smooth process and to sustain peace and order
during the event.
At exactly 8:30 in the morning, the meeting was officially started at Tigwi National High
School Quadrangle. It was led by Mr. Jonick P. Rey, School’s Guidance Designate. As a beginning of
the said meeting, the Nationalistic Song was sung and it was immediately followed by a prayer led
by Mrs. Maybell M. Pondivida.
As an opening remark, Ms. Chona M. Oblipias gave her warm-hearted greetings to
everyone, then Honorable Gregorio Palatino, Chairman of Barangay Tigwi also welcomed parents
and teachers in his remarkable message. After that, selected students of Grade 8, c/o Ms. Charie
Ventanilla presented an intermission number.
During the statement of school address by the principal, Mr. Jerome S. Catamio, discussed
the recent and the present situation of the school, particularly the enrollment. He stated that the
enrollment for this school year 2022 – 2023 was decreased. So parents must encourage their
son/daughter to enroll in this school or even their friends or neighbors for the increase of
enrollees. He also showcases the different improvements of the school for consecutive years such
as: Tigwi National High School will now become Autonomous; another building will be
constructed as an extension and additional rooms for students and teachers; and, 16 units
Television will be given by the former guest speaker in the last July 2022 Graduation Ceremony,
Mr. Gabriel L. Castillo. He also elaborates some school rules and policy wherein students are
required to wear facemask all the time except when they are eating/ drinking and teachers should
always check the students’ temperature and attendance before and after entering the school or
classroom. Another is, if students have no uniform yet to wear, they are required to wear plain
white t-shirt, jeans pants and shoes. He also emphasized the LGBTQ where, gay students are
allowed to wear a female’s uniform and will line up in females; on the other hand, lesbian students
are also allowed to wear a male’s uniform and will line up in males. The principal also reminded
the parents that they should accept and support their son/daughter on whatever gender they will
be. After the principal’s statements, an open forum has been initiated to entertain queries and
suggestions by the different concern parents. Some parents asked about the students’ school ID
and it was agreed by everyone that the amount of the school ID is ₱140.
To entertain everyone, another intermission number was presented by the selected senior
high school students. After this, Mr. Ruel M. Constantino, SGC President, gave his support message
while during the GPTA President Hour, Mrs. Leah P. Larossa, GPTA President, mentioned their
accomplishments. Some of the accomplishments that she mentioned are the successful supply of
water in school and the request for school covered court from the provincial governor, Gov.
Presbitero Jr. J. Velasco. She reminded also the parents about General PTA Fund/ donation fund,
which amounted to ₱100 to be collected in each member of the PTA. In addition to this, she
mentioned also that the KALAHI-CIDSS Building needs to be repainted so they will allocate budget
for the said building. She added also that it should maintain its good infrastructures so that
students could learn better.
In behalf of the Alumni Association President, Honorable Claudio Palatino, Mrs. Prescila P.
Madrigal, a retired teacher and alumni of this school, mentioned about the upcoming Grand
Alumni that will be held on May 2023. She explained that everyone is invited to attend. There will
have tickets to sell and a raffle draw to raise funds for the electronic devices (digitals) needed by
the students and teachers in school.
And in partnership with the different barangay officials, they gave their words of support
for the improvement and development of the school.
Over all, the Statement of the School Address and first GPTA Meeting was successfully done
at exactly 10:30 in the morning.
