Deposit Payment
If you need a Tier 4 student visa to study in the UK, you will need to pay a minimum of £1,500 tuition fee deposit. You should
pay your deposit as soon as you accept your unconditional offer. We can then send you a Confirmation of Acceptance for Study
(CAS) for your visa.
You do not need to pay a deposit if you're able to provide proof of sponsorship. If you are being sponsored, attach your formal
sponsorship letter to your Applicant Portal as soon as it is available.
For certain programmes you will need to pay a deposit to secure your place before meeting any conditions. If this applies to you
it will be a condition of your offer. The deposit amount and deadline for payment will be in the 'Terms and Conditions of Your
Offer' section in your offer letter.
For information on how to pay your deposit see the Postgraduate Offer guide at
http://www.ncl.ac.uk/postgraduate/your-offer-guide/internationalstudents/#conditionaloffer.
Visa Requirements
Most international students need a Tier 4 student visa to study in the UK. You will need a Confirmation of Acceptance for Study
(CAS) from us to make a Tier 4 student visa application. We will be able to issue your CAS when you have accepted your
unconditional offer and paid your deposit. Your CAS will be sent to you around 3 months before the start of your course. The
CAS will be sent to you by email - please ensure that the email address that the University holds for you is correct. You can use
the CAS to make your Tier 4 application no earlier than three months before your course starts. Tier 4 students must have a
visa bearing the Newcastle University Sponsor Licence Number CKTK52NU0 in order to register at Newcastle University.
The fees for your course are given in the 'Terms and Conditions of Your Offer' .
You will see that you have been classified as an international student for fees purposes, according to the provisions of the
relevant UK legislation. A summary of the definitions of Home and Overseas fee status is available on the UKCISA website at
www.ukcisa.org.uk/Information--Advice/Fees-and-Money/Home-or-Overseas-fees-the-basics. If you do not agree with our
assessment of your fee status you can email us at pgadmissions@ncl.ac.uk.
At least half of your tuition fees must be paid at Registration and the second half will be payable in January. If you are
responsible for payment of any or all of your tuition fees, you can get a 2% discount if you pay your fees in full by the end of
Registration week (for those starting their programmes of study in September). The discount applies to the proportion of fees
you are personally responsible for. If you are being sponsored, you should provide proof of sponsorship at or before
Registration.
If you are a self-funding graduate of the University you may be eligible for a 20% alumni reduction in the programme fee - see
www.ncl.ac.uk/postgraduate/funding/sources/ourstudentsgraduates/atfd.html for more information. Further information about
paying your tuition fees is available at https://www.ncl.ac.uk/tuition-fees/payment/
