Introduction
 Microsoft Corporation is an American multinational technology
corporation producing computer software, consumer electronics,
personal computers, and related services headquartered at the
Microsoft Redmond campus located in Redmond, Washington, United
States. Its best-known software products are the Windows line of
operating systems, the Microsoft Office suite, and the Internet
Explorer and Edge web browsers. Its flagship hardware products
are the Xbox video game consoles and the Microsoft Surface lineup
of touchscreen personal computers. Microsoft was the world's
largest software maker by revenue as of 2019. It is one of the
Big Five American information technology companies, alongside
Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, and Meta.

 The company operates business in five segments: Windows & Windows


Live Division, Server and Tools, Online Services Division,
Microsoft Business Division, and Entertainment and Devices
Division. The segments provide management with a comprehensive
financial view of key businesses. The segments enable the
alignment of strategies and objectives across the development,
sales, marketing, and services organizations, and they provide a
framework for timely and rational allocation of development,
sales, marketing, and services resources within businesses.
1. Windows & Windows Live Division ("Windows Division")
develops and markets PC operating systems, related software
and online services, and PC hardware products.
2. Server and Tools develops and markets server software,
software developer tools, services, and solutions that are
designed to make information technology professionals and
developers and their systems more productive and efficient.
3. Online Services Division ("OSD") develops and markets
information and content designed to help people simplify
tasks and make more informed decisions online.
4. Microsoft Business Division ("MBD") offerings consist of the
Microsoft Office system (comprising mainly Office, Office
365, SharePoint, Exchange, and Lync) and Microsoft Dynamics
business solutions.
5. Entertainment and Devices Division ("EDD") develops and
markets products and services designed to entertain and
connect people: Xbox 360, Skype, Windows Phone.

Companies owned by Microsoft

 Skype
Skype is a proprietary telecommunications application operated by
Skype Technologies, a division of Microsoft, best known for
videotelephony, videoconferencing and voice calls. It also has instant
messaging, file transfer, debit-based calls to landline and mobile
telephones (over traditional telephone networks), and other features.

Skype is available on various desktop, mobile, and video game console
platforms.

 Audible
Audible is a subsidiary of Microsoft that provides a platform for
audiobooks and other audio content. It offers a range of audio
content, including audiobooks, original programming, and radio shows.
Audible's content is available on its website and through its app, and
it can be accessed on various devices. The company was founded in
1995.

 LinkedIn
LinkedIn is an American business and employment-oriented online
service that operates via websites and mobile apps. Launched on May 5,
2003, the platform is primarily used for professional networking and
career development, and allows job seekers to post their CVs and
employers to post jobs. Since December 2016, it has been a wholly
owned subsidiary of Microsoft.

 GitHub
GitHub, Inc. is an Internet hosting service for software development
and version control using Git. It provides the distributed version
control of Git plus access control, bug tracking, software feature
requests, task management, continuous integration, and wikis for every
project. Headquartered in California, it has been a subsidiary of
Microsoft since 2018.

 Facebook
Facebook is an online social media and social networking service owned
by American company Meta Platforms. On October 24, 2007, Microsoft
announced that it had purchased a 1.6% share of Facebook for
$240 million, giving Facebook a total implied value of around
$15 billion. Microsoft's purchase included rights to place
international advertisements.

SHARE REPURCHASES AND DIVIDENDS

On September 18, 2019, the Board of Directors approved a share repurchase program
authorizing up to $40.0 billion in share repurchases. This share repurchase program commenced
in February 2020, following completion of the program approved on September 20, 2016, has no
expiration date, and may be terminated at any time. As of June 30, 2021, $8.7 billion remained of
this $40.0 billion share repurchase program.

 Microsoft revenue for the twelve months ending September 30, 2022 was $203.075B, a
15.22% increase year-over-year.
 Microsoft annual revenue for 2022 was $198.27B, a 17.96% increase from 2021.
 Microsoft annual revenue for 2021 was $168.088B, a 17.53% increase from 2020.
