Industry 4.0 in the food industry

Technologies such as cloud computing,

cognitive computing, virtual reality and the
Internet of Things are gradually closing the
gap between digital and physical areas
and processes.
For the food industry, too, this means that the

way products are sold, packaged and

manufactured will change, as will the way
raw materials are produced in the agricultural
sector.

Why Digitalization?

» reducing production costs

» reducing maintenance and repair costs

» meeting customer requirements for

individualized products (lot-size-one)

» ensuring continued high product

quality

» increasing availability of value-adding

processes and equipment

Self-learning assistance systems

SAM learns to recognize fault

conditions and automatically presents
suitable suggestions from its
knowledge database.
By providing targeted support for machine
operators, faults can be permanently
rectified. The number of rejects, the
operating time, and the manpower
requirements can be reduced by our
assistance system with a simultaneous
increase in production capacity.
The production efficiency is higher.

Sustainable production: actively shaping the ecological
transformation with Industrie 4.0

If there is comprehensive distribution and

use of these technologies, which are
already economically viable today, this
would result in a 37% reduction in global
greenhouse gas emissions.

This will also bring dividends for

companies: The market potential of
decarbonisation by 2050 is worth more
than 300 billion euros per year
