1. General Description
This equipment provides, wind' direc~tion and speed signals

4. Principle of operation and circuitry

Transmitter for wind direction and speed
The wind direction is detected as a rotating angle of the vertical tail-fin
and the bodY with respect to the stationary part, transmitter to the
synchro motor type transmitter, and read from the rotating angle of the
synchro motor the receive.
The wind speed is converted to a voltage by the generator added
converter which is directly coupled to the propeller and the voltage is
rectified and directly read on the voltmeter which is calibrated in
instantaneous wind speed.
The basic diagram Is as shown in the FIG-1 the wind direction system
and the wind sped system are Independent each other.

5. Construction of component apparatus

5.1 Wind direction and- speed transmitter

The wind direction and speed transmitter has the construction

as shown in fig-2 the propeller is fixed to the generator shaft
In sush a manner that the' propeller shaft is the generator shaft.
The generator is located in front part of the streamline body~
the generator cover can be easily mounted or removed by hand
with propeller removed.
The wind direction transmitter is fixed to the lower stand.
To the central stand is mounted on ball bearings a shaft Which
supports the streamline body.
The wind direction and the shaft are connected with each other
by means of a coupling for the installation if this equipment
select a ,location which is as high as practicable and is not
affected by obstructions. In case of the ground installation,
angle I'NII .mark on the stand to the north and "S"mark to the
south and secure equipment. firmly with 5 m10 bolt. In 08Se of
the ahlpboard Instatlatlcn, angle II bow" mark to the head of the
ship.
Note that if this precaution Isnot observed, Indicator reding are
erroneous.
The electric wires should be inserted from the cable grand and,
with the terminal cover removed , be connected to the proper
terminal With reference terminal nos.
The stand has a ground terminal be sure to the connect this
terminal to ground.

5.2 Wind direction and speed indicator

The wind direction scale has .3.6.g-:aduations at evenly spaced
intervales in the outer area to indicated 36 directions.
The wind speed ecale '" is a wide angle double scafe(full angle
2500
)of 0 to 60nis and 0 to 115knot ranges.
The illumination intensity, adjustments is propeller with the
illumination intensity adjusting variable resistor.
By removing connections, the instrument can, be easily removed.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Wind direction and speed transmitter

All bearing used ball type, these bearings are thoroughly

cleaned and then packed with grease and the oil reservoir filled
with oil, and should require no maintenance.
oarelessoJ)ening of the bearing will cause a trouble.
* Tranamttter painting,etc.
W~en p~inting this apparatus, pay special attention to the
instructions giVen in theFIG-2.

Slight propeller contamination is not objectionable.

If the propeller is badly contamination, polish with abrasives
or the link and then clean with gasoline. To do this , the pro-
peller, be SUre to align the key In position. If the key is not in
position, in may drop during rotating.

6.2 wind direction and speed indicator

To make the zero adlustment .ot.the wind speed indicator,
remove the cover and adjust the inside mounted zero adjusting

screw. The Htumlnatton lamp and 'the fuse can be replaced also
by removing the cover.
The wind direction and sneed scale plates are adjusted and
should not be tampered with unless absolutely needed.

7. Dismounting procedure "-

The dismounting of propeller and generator is .made thorough the
following procedure in case where checking of generator,is
necessary;
1) Unscrew the propeller stopper (A)
2) Unscrew the propeller (B) off
3} Unscrew the generator cover (C)
4) UnsCrew the generator fixing screw (D) and take the generator
off.

IREMARK : Wilen mounting lhe propeller on the. shaft. carre must;

be taken to always put the shaft key in the key grove of
the propeller.

Taken off the generator cover, turn it to the right until the red mark
coincides with the blue mark of the generator and pull forward.
