1) Logistics – Arriving in Paris

2 airports:

a) Charles de Gaulle (CDG) / Roissy


Most international flights arrive in CDG
Depending where you want to arrive in Paris, you can use the RER (~Fast subway) or
buses (trip length with the bus will obliviously depend on traffic):

i) Taxi: between €45 and €55 depending on traffic, time of the day

ii) RER B - Paris by Train


Fare: 7.75 euros (It is a combined ticket w/ the Paris metro)
Frequency every 4 to 15 minutes
Takes about 35 minutes
Stops in Paris: Gare du Nord, Chatelet-les-Halles, Saint-Michel, Denfert-Rochereau, Cité
Universiatire
But can connect from these stops to the entire Metro Network

iii) Air France Coach


Line 2 : Etoile / Porte Maillot / Roissy CDG
Every 15 minutes
Single fare: 10 euros

Line 4 : Montparnasse / Gare de Lyon / Roissy CDG


Every 30 minutes
Single fare : 11.50 euros

iv) Roissybus
CDG to Place de l’Opéra (Rue Scribe)
Frequency every 15 minutes (every 20 minutes after 7 pm)
Average trip time between Place de l'Opéra and Roissy Charles de Gaulle : 45 minutes
(depends on traffic)
Fare : 8,20 euros
b) Orly (ORY)
Mainly domestics or European flights
Closer to Paris than CDG

i) Bus: Orlybus
Orly – Place Denfert-Rochereau
Frequency every 15 to 20 minutes
Trip is about 25 minutes
Single fare: 5.70 euros

ii) Air France Coach


Ligne 1 : Invalides-Montparnasse-Orly
Frequency every 15 minutes
Single fare: 7.50 euros

iii) Access by Train / RER


According to me from Orly the RER is not as easy as the buses mentioned above
Check on website if want more information

2) Lodging

 Musée D'Orsay (If only one museum)
 Le Louvre (at least the oustside with the Pyramid, if no time to go inside)
 Musée Rodin if you like sculptures
 Beaubourg / Centre Pompidou, if you like modern art
 Musée Picasso (Hôtel Salé)

b) Monuments
 Eiffel Tower
 Notre Dame
 La Sainte Chapelle  small chapel really amazing. Pretty often you have classical
concerts in it, check it out!
 Sacre Cœur/Montmartre

 Something weird & creepy: Catacombs

c) Walk around neighborhood


 St Germain/Latin Quarter
 Le Marais/Place des Vosges
 Le Canal St Martin
 Jardin du Luxembourg
 Special recommendation: Boat tour on the Seine (amazing at night…)

d) Shopping
 Boulevard Haussmann/Les grands magasins
o Printemps
o Galeries La Fayette : The building itself is really nice. Go to the top floor for
a coffee or lunch
 Boulevard St Germain & Rue de Rennes
 Le Bon Marché, the oldest department store in Paris

e) Outside of Paris
Château de Versailles
Depending of the time of the year : Giverny – it’s Monet’s flower garden (best in Spring)

4) Restaurant:
 Le Sept Quinze: 29 Av. De Lowendal; 15th district  French modern exotic cuisine
 Le Cafe D'enfer: 22 rue Daguerre; 14th district  French; everything is good!
 Lou Pescadou: 16 rue de Mabillon; 6th district  Fish Restaurant, excellent and
cheap for quality!
 Le Rallye Peret: 6 rue Daguerre; 14th district  Bistro/Cafe style specialized in
Wine; Big Salad; Cheese
 La Petite Chaise: rue de Grenelle; 6th district  French style, one (if not THE one)
of the oldest restaurants in Paris ; open 7 days a week
 Le Petit Zinc: 11, rue St Benoît ; 6th district  French style, try the Crêpes Suzette
 Le Procope: 13, rue de l’Ancienne Comédie; 6th district  go there for the place!
 La Cigale Récamier : Rue Récamier, 6th district (a small street off Rue de Sèvres);
you should book in advance (Phone #: +33(0)1 45 48 86 58)  the best soufflés
(salted and sweet) in town, changed every month
 Nemrod: 51, rue du Cherche-Midi; 6th district  French cuisine, brasserie style

 Mariage Frères: an extraordinary variety of teas; great brunch
2 addresses: 13, rue des Grands Augustins; 6th district and 30, rue du Bourg Tibourg;
4th district (Le Marais)
 Angelina: ask for a “Chocolat l’Africain” (hot chocolate served with whipped
cream; you need the cream…)
 Ladurée: 3 addresses, 75, Avenue des Champs-Elysées; 8th district – 16, rue
Royale ; 8th district – 21, rue Bonaparte ; 6th district  You should have their
Macarons, jsut delicious !

Crêpes
 Crêperie des Arts: Rue St André des Arts, 6th district (close to bd St Michel) ; The
best crêperie in Paris!!! I recommend the sugar and butter crêpe!

Trendy
 Buddha bar: 8 r Boissy d'Anglas; 8th district  Trendy, Asian cuisine, expensive,
becomes a bar/night club later in the evening
 Market: 15 av Matignon; 8th district  Good French, trendy, expensive (www.jean-
georges.com)
 Georges: Centre Pompidou (5th floor) An amazing view over Paris; trendy, quite
expensive
 Kong: 1, rue du Pont-Neuf; 1st district  Very trendy, Asian food revisited

Expensive restaurants, but worth it


 Jules Verne: in the Eiffel Tower, advanced booking recommended, even if you can
sometimes get a table by calling the same day; go there for the view and the location;
