Discussion One of the responsibilities of a caregiver is to make sure that tasks are

BOTTLE STERILIZER is used to prevent the spread of microorganisms in containers


like feeding bottles through boiling.
DISHWASHER is used for cleaning dishes, eating utensils, and pots.
BED PAN is a receptacle made of plastic or metal used for the toileting of a
bedridden patient.
DUSTER is used in removing dirt and dust.
DUSTPAN is used to scoop the dust that was swept.
BROOM is used for sweeping dirt. It consists of twigs and bristles bound together
and attached to a handle.
DRYER is a machine that removes moisture through ventilation or heat.
WASHING MACHINE is an appliance that is used for washing clothes and linen.
VACUUM CLEANER is a device used for cleaning floors, carpets, and furniture by
suction.
HANGER is used to hang garments on.
FLAT IRON is an appliance that is used to iron, or press clothing, fabric or
draperies.
IRONING BOARD is a long, narrow padded board, often with collapsible
supporting legs, used to keep the clothes flat while ironing.
LAUNDRY BASKET is used for holding dirty clothes for washing or wet clothes or
drying.

Another task in caregiving is taking the vital signs. These has a specific tool,
equipment and paraphernalia and these are the following:

THERMOMETER is used to measure body temperature.


STETHOSCOPE is used for listening to the action of the heart, lungs, as well as
blood flow in arteries and veins
BP DIGITAL SPHYGMOMANOMETER has a cuff that can be applied with one hand
for self-testing; a stethoscope that is built-in or attached; and a valve that
inflates and deflates automatically with the data displayed.
BP APPARATUS MERCURIAL a sphygmomanometer has a manually inflatable cuff
attached by tubing to the unit that is calibrated in millimeters of mercury.
ANEROID SPHYGMOMANOMETER has a cuff that can be applied with one hand
for self-testing; a stethoscope that is built-in or attached; and a valve that
inflates and deflates automatically with the data displayed.

1. Make sure that the coffee maker is in good condition.
2. Add a coffee filter in the filter basket.
3. Pour enough water from the carafe into the reservoir of the coffee
maker, and place the carafe back into position.
5. Adjust the amount of coffee depending on how strong or weak you
wish your coffee to be.
6. Plug-in the coffee maker and turn it on. Wait until the coffee is
completely brewed.
7. Clean the coffee maker after use.
C. Electric Can Opener
1. Read the manufacturer’s manual and understand the components of
an Electric Can Opener.
2. Plug-in and begin lifting the lever. Allow the cutter to catch a hold
onto the can.
3. Turn on the opener while holding the bottom of the can, it will
automatically turn. Wait until cutting is completely through.
4. Remove the can when it reaches the end.
5. Carefully remove the lid and dump.
6. Unplug the opener from the outlet.
D. Food Processor
1. Remove the food processor from its box and assemble the parts.
2. Place it on a stable surface and plug-in.
3. Remove the cover and add the food ingredients to be processed.
4. Put back the cover and process the food by turning on the button.
5. You can add ingredients slowly while the processor is running.
6. Once the process has completed, unplug the food process and clean
it based on the manufacturer’s instructions.
E. Microwave Oven
1. Place the microwave on a stable, dry surface.
2. Check the microwave including its parts and features.
3. Plug-in directly to the wall outlet.
4. Arrange the food items in a covered dish, ceramic or glass bowl and
cover the dish with a lid or plastic wrap
5. Warm the food one at a time and mix or rotate food midway through
the microwaving time. Use a food thermometer to check if the food has
reached its required cooking temperature.
