Brandon Judge ELL Reflection

 What was your biggest challenge while planning the lesson?

 Do you feel you created enough interaction during the lesson?  How do you know that you,
as the teacher, did not dominate the discussion?  If you did this lesson again, how could you
create more interaction?
 How do you feel you used your co-teacher(s)?  With multiple teachers, do you think you
used this advantage effectively?  What is one way you might approach co-teaching
differently  if you were to teach this lesson again?
 Did you achieve your objectives?  How can you be sure?  Looking back, was your
assessment effective?  What is one thing you would do differently with assessment if you
had another opportunity to teach this lesson?
 How did you select the visuals you used in your lesson?  Do you think they were effective in
helping the students make connections?  Why or why not?  Did you find yourself "reading"
your slides, or do you believe you used the slides to highlight important points, as opposed
to just providing a "script" for yourself?
 In regards to time management, how do you feel you managed the lesson?  Did something
take longer/shorter than you anticipated?  Would you do anything differently if you were to
teach this lesson again?

1. The biggest challenge with my lesson was whether or not I was going to teach the lesson

myself or with Gabe. The lack of communication just had me stressed out the entire weekend and

the day of the lesson. But, for my actual lesson I think the challenge was deciding on making

sure I had all the important information.

2. I believe I had enough interaction with the lesson between my questions within the lesson and

the discussions they provoked. I did talk a lot during my lesson however I think the questions

helped to make it so that the students were able to talk and discuss the material. I think if I had

the students come up to the board to answer questions and reinforce the content.

3. I was supposed to have a co-teaching lesson, however Gabe forgot the lesson was that day and

so I taught by myself.

4. I did achieve my objectives. I could be sure through my assessments throughout the lesson and

at the end of the lesson. I think if I gave the students time to write down their responses rather
than a discussion might have allowed for all students to have their opinion heard at the end of the

lesson.

5. I think my visuals could have been better although I feel as though there was not many visuals

I could use for my PowerPoint. I believe that when I used the board to explain a concept was

useful and did help to clarify it for students. At times I did find myself reading off of the

PowerPoint. I definitely could have worked a little harder to ensure that I did not read off my

PowerPoint.

6. I. believe I managed my time well I covered all of my content and got all of the questions

answered. However, do to having spoken discussions I did go a minute or two over my time

limit. I think I would have had questions written on the board for the students to come up and

write the answer to make it more interactive. Furthermore, I think I should have ended the

discussion a little sooner so I did not go over my time limit.
