LEARNING COMPETENCY: Determine the Various Social, Moral, and Economic
Issues discussed in the text listened to. (EN8LC-III-
7.4)
I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, students should be able to;

 identify the various social issues discussed in listening texts;


 analyze the causes and effects of the social issues; and
 relate personal experiences pertaining to social issues.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic : Determine the various social issue discussed in the text listen to.

Materials: Power Point Presentation, Video and Image Presentation, Visual


Aids, Pen and Paper

III. PROCEDURE

A. Preparatory Activities

1. Prayer

2. Checking of Attendance

3. Review of the Previous Lesson

Elicit student’s generalization about the previous lesson

4. Motivation ( Charade: 1 2 3... ACT!)

The teacher will prepare different social issues.

The teacher will divide the group into (3) three.

Mechanics :

1. Choose a representative from each group to start. The representatives will go


in front to get the first word.
2. The representatives will act the word in front of the other players.
3. The first person to guess the word gets the piont.

B. Activity (5 MINUTES)

Directions: Identify the social issues reflected in each image. Use the clues
provided and supply the missing letters to complete the words in the boxes. Do
this on a separate sheet of paper.

C. Analysis
The teacher will ask questions based on the pictures given in the activity:

 How can you say that those pictures are an example of a social issue?
 Why do you think this social issues is existing?

D. Abstraction

Lecturette on the various social issues.

What is an issue?

 An issue is an important problem or topic that people in the society argue about
or

discuss since it negatively affects many people in the society. It could be a social,
moral, or economic issue

SOCIAL ISSUES prevent the society from functioning at the most desirable level.

It is a problem that reduce the quality of life of people. This includes currect
problem and risk that presents a probability of future problems.

An issue becomes a social issue under the following circumstances:

 The issue involves people in the society.

 The public, as a whole, recognizes the situation as a problem.

 A large segment of the population sees the situation as a valid concern.

 The situation can be alleviated through the joint actions of the citizens.

E. Application (10 MINUTES)

The teacher will divide the class into (3) three groups.

Directions: Listen to the news report in the following link and answer the questions
below.

Answer the following questions:
1. What issue is discussed in the news report?
2. What are the causes of this problem?
3. How does the issue affect the victims?
4. What possible solutions are presented in the report?
5. What possible solutions do you suggest to address the problem?
V. EVALUATION

Direction: Provide 5 examples of social issues. Write it in a ¼ sheet of paper.

VI. ASSIGNMENT

Research about what is moral issues and its examples. Advance study about it.
