ACTIVITY PROFILE

I. Title of Activity
REMEDIATION PROGRAM FOR LITERACY AND
NUMERACY

II. Rationale In line with the K to 12 Program and the goal of making
every child should be a reader, the Department of
Education (DepEd) is strengthening its reading program
through the implementation of the Early Language,
Literacy, and Numeracy Program.
Every school must have a remedial reading program to
ensure students’ mastery of the different reading skills.
Remedial reading is an integral part of any school-
wide reading program.  Generally language teachers are
capable of helping students who are corrective readers
even without extensive training.  However, a school must
determine the different characteristics of an ideal reading
program.
Literacy and numeracy are foundational to engagement
in education and lifelong achievement. Strong literacy
and numeracy help every child to learn, experiment,
reason and create, to be active and informed citizens, and
to contribute socially, culturally and economically.

III. Statement of To enhance the teaching prowess of teachers in giving the
