    Dear Madam,
    RE: MEDICAL EXAMINATION OF FOOD AND BEVERAGE STUDENTS INCLUDING
    COLLEGE FOOD HANDLERS.
    Aforementioned hereby refers, the Public Health Office shall conduct routine Medical
    Examination of Food and Beverage students as required in Sections 1s (), (2), and (3) of Food,
    Drugs and Chemical Substance Act CAP 254 in tandem with Public Health Act CAP 242 Laws
    of Kenya.
    Institutional Food safety and hygiene measure is an area of Public Health importance for
    prevention and control of Foodborne Disease Outbreaks. This includes both Medical Examinations
    and Hygicne Behavior Change Commutations (HBCC) capacity strengthening of the food
    handlers.

    This office therefore intends to entrench HACCP principles to these food handlers through
    continuous sensitization and health talk for 15-30 minutes before routine medical examinations.
    These services are subject to Siaya County Finance Bill2022/2023 at Ksh. 600 per food handler
    for laboratory fees and issuanee with vabd medical certificate.
