Poultry Project.

I.INTRODUCTION:

This project consists of raising poultry for food production, mainly meat and eggs. Of the
species most exploited with greater frequency and intensity by the project, we highlight the
chicken. However, later it extends into the production of free-range chickens, ducks, ducks,
turkeys, among others.

This project aims to reduce the rate of temporary, seasonal unemployed and this generates
working capital; Above all it will keep the permanent workforce; And it will allow the scale of
production enabling the use of technology, low production cost. And activities will be
developed in the field of poultry production. And later it will be laying poultry, guaranteed by
the success and sustainability of the project. We are well assured that this chosen area is ideal,
safe and prime. Since it is a promising business area that provides high economic viability and
quick return on investment.

On the other hand, it is because poultry farming is of significant importance in the production
of animal protein. According to FAO demographic data (2006), chicken meat is responsible for
more than 30% of the total animal protein consumed in the world in general. And it is also the
segment that, in recent decades, has seen the greatest transformations in the technical-
productive sector, still being one of the fastest and lowest-cost alternatives for animal protein
production, meeting the food and nutritional demands of various countries of Africa. And
especially in Mozambique, this productive activity is vital, as it is one of the main sources of
animal protein for consumption, available to low-income and unemployed populations. Poultry
farming is one of the segments of agriculture that most contributes to job creation, due to its
short production cycle.

Specifically for the project in question, the chickens are currently housed in an adapted local
system. Therefore, we intend for them to be housed in farms. That's why we need to reinforce
our innovative initiatives, techniques and have a modern aviary with bedding, feeders,
drinkers, heaters and if possible with automatic curtains, programmed by computer to meet all
the needs of chickens in each day of life (temperature, humidity, water and feed).

We intend to prepare the proper facilities and with certain equipment; Which allows us to
select the birds and handle them correctly. Control the health of the flock, as well as carry out
the egg incubation process, following improved techniques obtained in training and
professional qualification courses.

The chickens will go through the fattening process; For approximately 45 days for each batch.
For the sole purpose of generating meat. Regarding the creation of laying hens, it comprises
three phases. Being: 1st Phase - Young or Initial: from 1 day to 6 weeks old; 2nd Phase -

Breeding: from 7 to 17 weeks of age; 3rd Phase - Production: from 18 to 76 weeks of age, with
the possibility of extending from 90 to 120 weeks if one or two forced molts are performed.

In general terms, the pilot project plan is already defined:

Amount of broiler production and egg production, as shown in the production table below.

Availability of inputs will be in line with promised funding.

Regarding the production site, a 6-hectare area of land has already been reserved by the
AFUIES Association for the purpose of building the modern Atelier, with quality for poultry
farming.

Regarding Consumer Markets, the North, Center and South regions of the country have
already been defined. And as for our workforce, they are already available and professionally
prepared to welcome this project and they have a lot of expectations.

II. DEVELOPMENT:

2. DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM: There are several situations and obstacles that women
face. And other situations are created by the responsible parents themselves. Due to poverty,
parents force their daughters into premature marriages, considering that the primary role of
women is to build and take care of the family at home, where the teaching opportunity is
prioritized for the boy, to the detriment of the girl. As much as housework for women only.

On the other hand, cultural practices such as initiation rites, lobolo, polygamy and
superstitions are the main causes of violence against women and girls. This often leads to
social acceptance, and sometimes encouragement, of early marriages and teenage pregnancy,
as well as creating the norm for girls to remain illiterate, perpetuating the cycle of poverty and
ill health for generations to come.

Women are not entitled to employment opportunities, thus grossly violating their human
rights. So currently the index of vulnerable and disgraced women is getting bigger and bigger in
Mozambique. Associated with the high cost of living.

Therefore, women constitute a very sensitive social layer and subject to vulnerability. In turn,
they live without better conditions of survival. And because of traditional habits and customs,
women are very despised at work.

It is in this contest that the Association carries out the local initiative that safeguards the lives
of women with active capacities to develop activities to generate income for their self-
sustenance. Providing employment through the Poultry project.

Which consists of raising animals of small species, highlighting the raising of chickens.

3.TARGET GROUP: Young mothers and Vulnerable and unemployed girls from the District of
Dondo and selling in the north, scepter and south of the country.

4.OBJECTIVE: To promote the social and economic inclusion of disadvantaged women,

enabling them to improve their economic potential and the lives of their families and
communities in general. - Create self-employment for single vulnerable women and widows.

 - Teach production to use local resources.

-Encourage women to practice productive commercial activities and income generation.

-Create conditions for food security and nutritional diet in their families.

-Strengthen gender in the financial and economic area.

- Promoting equal opportunities for women and men to make the right choices, access
resources, rights and power to fully participate in economic, political and social life.

5.GOAL: By 2024 to 2025, 500 young mothers with equal opportunities for women and men
making right choices, accessing resources, participating fully in economic, political and social
life.

6. EXPECTED RESULT: With the program proposed here, it is expected that girls and young
mothers explore their full potential and become economically self-sufficient citizens.

Young mothers with permanent resources to ensure the basic needs of their children and their
family in general are met.

13.SUSTAINABILITY: Taking into account and considering the strategic plan of

production and sale, its effective implementation brings considerable income. As it
clearly shows, the project is sustainable and economical. As an example: It shows that
in 12 months, it has a final production of $34,640.00 USAID, as shown in the table

below, of production plan and productivity and sales. However, we want to say that this
project is profitable, productive and sustainable and effective for its continuity and
reinvestment after funding.

The Project's coordination will be assured by the Board of the Association, through the
Coordinator and director and including the Program Officer. And the execution of the project
will be carried out by the project's executive coordination team, which includes, in addition to

(supervisor), each with experience in their area of expertise.

The Coordinator, Director and Technical Assistant will be responsible for articulating with
partners, who will directly or indirectly contribute to the success and implementation of the
Project.
