Monday this week began with our weekly staff meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting,

my supervisor Melissa gave out a Valentine’s Day treat, and we all shared what our favorite

candy was. I like the fact that we do a question of the week each week because it has allowed me

to get to know the other employees better. Following this, we had a group review of how to use

Trello to plan events. This is a website we use to complete checklists for events hosted by the

Women’s Center. It includes minute details that sometimes may be forgotten like the budget,

food, who will be working, and marketing. After we reviewed how to correctly complete a

checklist, we discussed the progress of each group throughout the week and some upcoming

events we have for Black History Month. After the staff meeting, I had a meeting with my

wellness group in which we re-addressed our checklist on Trello, an event that we have coming

up. We are working on a discussion and panel for Black and queer folks that will take place on

Monday 2/20. We also finalized a tabling event that happened on Wednesday of this week.

On Tuesday of this week, we had our weekly intern meeting. This week we discussed

articles regarding intersectionality. This is extremly relevant during Black History month

because there are many oppressed groups that intersect, like Black and queer folks, which is the

center of the event that we are hosting next week.

On Wednesday, I was the only intern available to table all day. I got to the office and

helped to collect the items that we needed like a tablecloth, a flag, and some pins. We also

created several flyers for people to pick up about Black History Month, Black masculinity, and

self-care, which is what our tabling event was catered towards. In addition, we purchased some

heart-shaped stress balls that had motivational quotes on them. Unfortunately, we had some

issues with the printer at the center, so one of my coworkers had to go to another office to print

in color. In the meantime, Meg and I went to set up the table. Throughout the day I got to meet
and interact with many new people who were interested in Black history and health. I gave out a

bunch of pins, almost all of the stress balls, and all the pamphlets we printed out. I enjoyed being

out of the office on this day and getting the chance to interact with other students on campus.

On Thursday, I did not have any meetings or assignments, so I just did some cleaning

around the office, along with working on some personal assignments. On Friday, I had a meeting

with my SheSpeaks group. We did not have much to discuss this week because we are still just

waiting for confirmation from the possible speakers. In addition, I spent an hour filling up the

menstruation stations in the Arts and Sciences building and the library. We were assigned to a lot

of locations this week and we were finally able to refill the top floor of Centennial, just in time

for the games this weekend. Looking forward to next week!
