Dear To Whom It May Concern,

In my pursuit of the teaching profession, I was excited to see this opportunity shown for a new hire. As a young
and new teacher, I acquire an abundance of experience. I believe that I can bring valuable contributions to
these students based on how easily adaptable I can be, and my heart towards doing so.

My name is Maicie Rackerby. I was born and raised in Santa Rosa, California. My love for literature started
when I was young. I was born with a speech impediment, making it hard for me to begin my English career.
Within this hardship of myself, I persevered through. I recently graduated from Sonoma State University with a
bachelor's in Single- Subject English with a teaching concentration. I am now undergoing Sonoma State’s
credential program and completing my student teaching at Herbert Slater Middle School.

Through Sonoma State’s credential program, my student teaching has led me to have countless hours of
in-class experiences overviewing professors along with fulling taking over two English classes, co-teaching in
drama, an EL class, and another English class. Through this, I have spent a significant amount of time creating
and delivering lesson plans that follow the English Education Model Content Standards for California Public
Schools. I have learned how to keep students on-task with proactive behavior, modification, and positive
reinforcement strategies. I know how to implement and adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of students with
special learning needs. I have fostered positive relationships with students both inside and outside of the
classroom by attending sporting events, plays, and extracurricular activities to show my support for them. Thus
creating a safe and positive environment for learning.

Formerly in my Substitute Teacher role, my successes have stemmed from essential skills, including adapting
to lesson plans and adhering to student needs. I have enhanced my motivation abilities and cultivated a
reputation as a major contributor through planning and management. I am a collaborative team player who is
always searching for opportunities to impart valuable insights. With these qualities, I am able to facilitate a
positive learning environment and impactful outcomes.
