Grade 4 Scales and

Arpeggios
By Grade 4, students should be very familiar with playing white-key major and minor scales
with both hands. In this grade, students are expected to be familiar with most of the black
key scales, 2 of which (B flat and E flat major) are already introduced in the previous grade.
The black key scales uses a different set of fingering each from the white key scales, so
more practice would be required to remember them, especially if you have skipped the
previous grade.

All arpeggios in Grade 4 are to be played both hands so more practice would be required
especially for the black-key arpeggios which also uses a different set of fingering from the
white key arpeggios.

All scales and arpeggios are to be played two octaves, hands together and separately.
