Description
Executive summary
American regulations (FAA) require the installation of the Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System
(TCAS) (Aeronautical Radio Incorporated (ARINC) 735) on the basis of Mod. No. 22536P2590, Mod. No.
23511P3055 and Mod. No. 25583P4215. (Service Bulletin No. A320-34-1027) (COMPLETE PROVISIONS
FOR TCAS II). This new airborne system will provide a collision avoidance capability that operates
independently from the ground control. This Service Bulletin installs:
— The TCAS computer in the Aft Electronics Rack 80VU
— Two antennas at the top and bottom of the fuselage.

ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Preparation (config 04)

1. Make sure that the aircraft is electrically grounded, (Refer to AMM 12-34-24 Page block 201).
2. Put the access platform(s) in position.
3. Open the avionics compartment door 824, (Refer to AMM 52-41-00 Page block 201).
4. Open the FWD cargo compartment door 825, (Refer to AMM 52-30-00 Page block 201).
5. Remove the partition panels 131CW and 131DW, (Refer to AMM 06-41-53 Page block 1).
6. Open, safety and tag these circuit breakers:

7. Remove the ceiling panel 231DC for access to the upper TCAS antenna, (Refer to AMM 06-41-53
Page block 1).
8. Remove the floor panel 131LF for access to the lower TCAS antenna, (Refer to AMM 06-41-53
Page block 1).

Modifications (config 04)


a) Install the TCAS II computer 1SG in the Aft Electronics Rack 80VU.
Refer to figure 1.
1. Remove:
1 plastic plug installed as a protection for the connector 1SG-A (discard)
5 plugs from the ventilation holes Item (11) (discard)
2. Install on its rack:
1 Computer-TCAS 066-50000-0102 Item 2
3. Lift the nut on the attach tab. Tighten the nut.

b) Modify the wiring in the Aft Electronics Rack 80VU.


Refer to figures 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15.

1. Remove the wires shown on the lines 1 and 2, or 3 and 4 (Refer to figure 13).
2. Modify the connection of the wires shown on the lines:

20 thru 25 (Refer to figure 8),


6 thru 17 (Refer to figure 10),
7 thru 12 (Refer to figure 13),
1 thru 18 (Refer to figure 15).

3. Install the wires shown on the lines:

21 (Refer to figure 15),


21 and 22, or 23 and 24 (Refer to figure 13), supplied in:

4. Attach the wires with:

c) Install the upper TCAS antenna 7SG1.

Refer to figures 2, 3, 4, 5.

1. Disconnect the 4 upper TCAS antenna cable connectors Item 7 from the upper TCAS dummy cable
mounting plate Item (9).
2. Remove the 8 screws Item (5).
3. Remove:
1 Shutter D53230146000 Item (3) Discard

4. Remove the sealant in the upper TCAS antenna mounting area with a nonmetallic scraper.
5. Cut out a hole in the blanket to a diameter of 80.00 mm (3.149 in.) (Refer to figure 5).
6. Apply Adhesive Tape (Mat No. 08-073) to the cut section.
7. Re-identify the insulation blanket:
Refer to figures 4, 5.

8. Install the washer:
Refer to figure 5.

9. Install the O-ring Item 19 and the gasket Item 18 in the correct position and align the screw
holes with the antenna screw holes.
10. Connect the 4 upper TCAS antenna cable connectors Item 7 to the upper TCAS antenna Item 1.
11. Install:
1 Antenna-TCAS 071-50001-8104 Item 1
attach to the fuselage with:
8 Screw NAS1133E12 Item 5
8 Washer ASNA2397C10 Item 8
12. Apply Polysulphide Sealant Dichromate Cured (Mat No. 09-016) to make a bead around the
antenna base as shown in Section B-B.
13. Apply Polysulphide Sealant Dichromate Cured (Mat No. 09-016) to the screw heads as shown
in Section B-B.
14. Install:

1 M Cord-Ligature NSA8420-0 Item 6

with Polysulphide Sealant Dichromate Cured (Mat No. 09-016).

15. Apply Flexible Polyurethane (Mat No. 16-021) to the sealant in view.

NOTE: Make sure that the bonding contact resistance between the antenna and the fuselage
structure is not higher than 5 milliohms, (Refer to AMM 20-28-00).

(d) Install the lower TCAS antenna 7SG2

Refer to figure 6.

1. Loosen the clamp Item 16 to disconnect the gaiter Item 14 from the lower TCAS antenna blanking
plate.
2. Remove the 8 screws Item (5).
3. Remove:

1 Shutter D53231635200 Item (4) Discard

4. Remove the sealant in the lower TCAS antenna mounting area with a non-metallic scraper.
5. Install the O-ring Item 19 and the gasket Item 18 in the correct position and align the screw holes
with the antenna screw holes.
6. Connect the 4 lower TCAS antenna cable connectors Item 17 to the lower TCAS antenna Item 1.
7. Install:
1 Antenna-TCAS 071-50001-8104 Item 1
attach to the fuselage with:
8 Screw NAS1133E12 Item 5
8 Washer ASNA2397C10 Item 8

8. Install the protective gaiter Item 14 on the lower TCAS antenna Item 1 and attach it with the clamp
Item 16.
9. Apply Corrosion Inhibiting Fillet Consistency (Mat No. 09-016) to make a bead around the antenna
base as shown in Section B-B.
10. Apply Polysulphide Sealant Dichromate Cured (Mat No. 09-016) to the screw heads as shown in
Section B-B.
11. Install:

1M Cord-Ligature NSA8420-0 Item 6

with Polysulphide Sealant Dichromate Cured (Mat No. 09-016) .

12. Apply Flexible Polyurethane (Mat No. 16-021) to the sealant in view.

NOTE: Make sure that the bonding contact resistance between the antenna and the fuselage
structure is not higher than 5 milliohms, (Refer to AMM 20-28-00).

(e) Modify the equipment in the Center Pedestal 11VU

1 From the ATC dual control panel 3SH, remove:

1 TCAS INOP placard Discard

(f) Modify the equipment in the Rear C/B Panel 121VU

1 Remove:

1 safety clip from the circuit breaker 4SG in position K10 (discard).

Test (config 04)

1. Energize the aircraft electrical circuits, (Refer to AMM 24-41-00 Page block 201).
2. Remove the safety clips and tags and close these circuit breakers:

3. Do the EIS start procedure (EFIS only), (Refer to AMM 31-60-00 Page block 201).
4. Get the PFD and the ND image. To do this, on the ADIRS CDU, set the OFF/NAV/ATT selector
switches to NAV and align the IRS, (Refer to AMM 34-10-00 Page block 201).
5. On the EFIS control sections of the FCU:
a Set the mode selector switches to ROSE/NAV.
b Set the scale selector switches to 10.
6. On one MCDU, push SYSTEM REPORT/TEST NAV menu page, (Refer to AMM 31-32-00 Page
block 501).

1. On the ADIRS CDU, set the 3 OFF/NAV/ATT selector switches to OFF.


2. On the Panels 301VU and 500VU, set the ND and PFD potentiometers to OFF.
3. On the center pedestal, on the MCDU, push the line key adjacent to the RETURN indication until
the MCDU MENU page comes into view.

1) Config. 02 and Config. 04
a) Make sure that the work areas are clean and clear of tools and other items of equipment.
b) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits, (Refer to AMM 24-41-00 Page block 201).
c) Install the partition panels 131DW and 131CW, (Refer to AMM06-41-53 Page block 1).
d) Install the floor panel 131LF, (Refer to AMM 06-41-53 Page block 1).
e) Install the ceiling panel 231DC, (Refer to AMM 06-41-53 Page block 1).
f) Close the avionics compartment door 824, (Refer to AMM 52-41-00 Page block 201).
g) Close the FWD cargo compartment door 825, (Refer to AMM 52-30-00 Page block 201).
h) Remove the access platform(s).
i) Restore the systems and the aircraft to normal operating condition.
