LGU PLARIDEL CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION CAMPAIGN

(COMMUNITY EXTENSION ACTIVITIES)

The government recognizes the tremendous effect of climate change and its diverse effect
to the environment more so to the people, hence they formulated REPUBLIC ACT NO. 9729
known as the “Climate Change Act of 2009”. The Act clearly states that the LGUs shall be the
frontline agencies in the formulation, planning and implementation of climate change action
plans in their respective areas, consistent with the provisions of the Local Government Code, the
Framework, and the National Climate Change Action Plan. Municipal governments shall
consider climate change adaptation, as one of their regular functions.

Climate Change presents a major existential threat, and how we respond to it will
determine what our future looks like. That is why the LGU took it seriously to find a simple way
on how to help mitigate the climate change as the recent natural events such as tropical storm

way conducting this tree planting activity and clean-up drive will contribute to the awareness on
