1. Describe an effective Filipino 21st-century literacy


teacher. (From PPST)
Teacher quality in the Philippines is determined by the Philippine Professional Standards for
Teachers. The standards outline the growing levels of knowledge, experience, and professional
involvement expected of instructors. At the same time, the standards permit instructors to use
their developing knowledge in a more sophisticated manner across a wider variety of difficult
teaching/learning contexts.

An effective 21st-century literacy teacher is described as someone who recognizes the importance
of mastery of content knowledge and its interconnectedness within and across curriculum areas,
coupled with a sound and critical understanding of the application of theories and principles of
teaching and learning. To encourage learner responsibility and success, provide learning settings
that are secure, fair, unbiased, and encouraging. They effectively control student behavior in both
physical and virtual environments by fostering an atmosphere that is focused on learning. A
teacher who establishes learning environments that are responsive to learner diversity. They
respect learners’ diverse characteristics and experiences as inputs to the planning and design of
learning opportunities. apply a variety of assessment tools and strategies in monitoring, evaluating,
documenting and reporting learners’ needs, progress and achievement. They use assessment data in
a variety of ways to inform and enhance the teaching and learning process and programs. value
personal growth and professional development and exhibit high personal regard for the profession
by maintaining qualities that uphold the dignity of teaching such as caring attitude, respect and
integrity. Also who are integrating themselves to digital literacy especially now that we are in the
technology era.

2. What are the different research-based approaches and


strategies for developing students’ 21st century literacy
skills in the new normal?
Integrated Approach - In a learner-centered setting and circumstances relevant to their
interests, learners engage in active learning through the integrated method. It enables
students to participate in relevant and purposeful learning. It helps pupils recognize how the
many subject areas of the curriculum are related to one another.

Integrative learning may take many different forms, including linking abilities and
information from many experiences and sources, using abilities and practices in different
contexts, using numerous, often opposing points of view, and contextually comprehending
issues and perspectives.
Blended Learning - Blended learning is a type of educational strategy where some classes
are taught in a regular classroom setting and others are taught online. The conventional
classroom still functions with blended learning, however part of the courses are replaced by
online learning. Because it combines the traditional classroom with educational technology,
blended learning is also known as hybrid learning. Increased use of educational technology
innovations like mobile learning, virtual classrooms, and webinars is one of the emerging
trends in blended learning.

Even in new normal, students can still learn inside their house because of the technology,
even not in the school, student can still enhance their skills using Internet, they can still
meet their teacher trough the video call. The future trends in blended learning can make
education even more accessible to students and more relevant as the digital age progresses.
In fact one of the mottos of blended learning is 'Learn Anywhere - Learn Anytime' because
learning materials are always available on the web and on mobile devices.

3. What teaching interactive tools can you recommend to teachers to


effectively teach the new literacies in the new normal? Why? support
your suggestions. ( identify at least 3 best interactive tools)
Zoom and Gmeet - Both are video conferencing. high-quality video meetings and calls available
for everyone, on any device. integration with Canvas; HD quality video; allows up to 100
simultaneous video participants in normal mode, up to 1000 in webinar mode; full-featured apps
for iOS and Android; ability to mix computers, mobile devices, and video conferencing rooms in
one. It is interactive tools because you can meet all your student in one meeting and you can
do activities inside it, you can have breakroom for your student, if you have an activities by
group. You can send link and file which is easy access for your students. This App or website
is very helpful for teachers and students in this new normal, without seeing each other in
person this will help a lot to change information with each other. You can still turn in all your
activities through this without going out your house. Also, with these you can teach your
student how to manipulate such app.

Quizlet - Quizlet makes simple learning tools that let you study anything. Start learning today
with flashcards, games and expert-written solutions. In quizlet you can teach your student by
using their features, they have flashcard, your student can draw there, that you can also see
at the same time which is very helpful if the the activity is in real time. As a user you can
make your own quiz which is enhance your skills on making quizzes and you can also answer
different quiz with different topic that you can enhance your critical thinking and also you can
practice what you know in manipulating the technology.

Canva - You can make your own presentation in Canva, you can personalized it so the design
and context is connected to your lessons which help the student to understand the Lesson
more. Canva is an effective design tool that can be used in schools to produce projects that
not only impress kids but also assist in teaching them the fundamentals of digital design. With
the help of this free application, students and teachers may work on picture editing, design
layout, and more on a simple platform.
