I. OBJECTIVES

A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of key concept of geometry of shapes and sizes, and
geometric relationships.

B. Performance The learner is able to create models of plane figures and formulate and solve accurately authentic
Standards problems involving sides and angles of a polygon.

C. Learning The learner classifies the different kinds of angles.

Competencies
D. Specific Objectives At the end of this lesson, the learner is able to:
1. Identify the different types of the angle(acute, right and obtuse);
2. State clearly the differences of each type of the angle:
3. Participate actively in all the activity related to the topic: and
4. Measure the degree of the different types of the angle using protractor.

and practicing new skills # 1. An angle whose measure is less than 90 degrees.
1 2. An angle whose measure is 90 degrees.
(10min) 3. An angle whose measure is bigger than 90 degrees but less than
180 degrees.

Direction: Identify the kind
of angle describe in
following.
1. An angle whose measure
is less than 90 degrees.
2. An angle whose measure
is 90 degrees.
3. An angle whose measure

is bigger than 90 degrees but

less than 180 degrees.
E. Discussing new concepts What is a protractor? A
and practicing new skills # protractor is used to measure an angle. A protractor assigns a
2 number between 0o and 180o to an angle. That number is called the
(5min) degree of the angle. Every angle has a degree measure m such that
0o m 180o.

To measure an angle using a protractor, follow these steps:

1. Place the center point of the protractor on the vertex of the
angle to be measured.
2. Align the baseline of the protractor with one side of the angle.
3. Read the appropriate scale.

Activity 2: I’M A MAP

(group activity)
I have here 4 figures.
Measure the angles of the
given figure in your group
using the protractor.
F. Developing mastery Refer on the figure below answer the following.
(leads to Formative
Assessment )

(5min)

Expected answer:
1. Name the angles that appear to be acute
2. Name angles that appear to be obtuse. 1. NGS, SGR,
3. Name a right angle
