1. Drawing Board

drawing, primarily as a guide for drawing straight
horizontal lines on a drafting table. It can also be
used in conjunction with a set square to draw
vertical and angled lines.
T- square consist of two parts; the stock, and the
blade joined together at right angles to each other
by means of screws. The stock is made to slide
along the working edge. T- square used to draw
parallel lines, vertical lines or inclined lines at 30
or 60 degrees.

3. Drafting Machine or Drafter

Very good! The drafting machine, was introduced
about 1930, allows a straightedge to be moved
while maintaining any desired angle between it
and the edge of the drawing board. Combining the
functions of the T square, triangle, protractor, and
scale, it greatly increases the efficiency of
producing a drawing.

plastic materials. They are triangular in shape.
Set squares are useful for drawing parallel lines,
perpendicular lines, angles, and complete shapes,
such as squares, rectangles, and triangles. They’re
particularly helpful for checking to see if a shape
has a right angle.

We have 2 types of set squares; the 45-45-90

degrees and 30-60-90 degrees.

5. Protractor

used in drawing. It is used to measure the angles ma’am.

Have you ever used protractor?

So what is the purpose of this instruments?
Very good! Protractors are used to mark or
measures angles between 0 and 180 degrees.
They are semicircular in shape and are made of
plastic. Protractors with circular shape are
capable of marking and measuring 0 to 360
degrees are also available in the market.
Protractor is used for drawing angles of known
measures and finding angles of unknown
measures. The geometry protractor have two
scales marked on it: outer and inner. The outer
scale starts from 0° and goes up to 180° in a
clockwise direction, and the inner scale has the
same range in the counterclockwise direction.

6. Drawing Pencils

There’s a different types of pencils ma’am.

Exactly! Drawing pencils is mainly used for

artistic sketching and drawing, for stenography
or notes. The accuracy and appearance of a
drawing depends on the quality of pencil used to
make drawing. The grade of a pencil lead is
marked on the pencil. HB denotes medium grade.
Increase in hardness is shown by the value put in
front of H such as 2H, 3H, etc. Softer pencils are
marked as 2B, 3B, 4B, etc. A pencil marked 3B is
softer than 2B and pencil marked 4B is softer
than 3B and so on. Beginning of a drawing may be
made with H or 2H. For lettering and
dimensioning, H or HB pencils are used.

Pencil grades are the letters and numbers you'll

often see on the end of a pencil, for example HB or
2B. These grades help artists and illustrators
know how hard (or soft!) and how dark (or light!)
a graphite pencil is. The H in pencil grades stands
for hardness, and the B stands for blackness.

7. Compass

It is used in making circles or half circle ma’am.

Very good! Compass is used for drawing circles
and arcs of circles. Compass has two legs; One of
the two legs of the compass ends in a needle,
which the user places gently on paper to keep the
compass in place. The other leg has a writing
instrument (pencil) on its end.

8. Drawing pins and clips

Drawing pins and clips are used to fasten items
to a wall or board.
