I find this to be totally disingenuous and unprofessional.

Should we go back and “evaluate ” every single thing that has come up on the youtube chat regarding any one of us?
Because there have been tons of comment about myself, about Commissioner Szetela, and about each and every one of
us in the youtube chat that has come through over our time together. If we are going to let youtube comments
determine what “evaluate”, it shouldn’t start and end with me.

If there was truly a legitimate issue, Commissioner Szetela, or ANY commissioner with questions could have very easily
picked up the phone and asked me about it in private, with our ED, or with our general council. Throwing it out over the
zoom meeting has done nothing but generate negative attention and in has put me in a ton of hot water with the new
job – in fact, due to the news coverage, I could LOSE the job; which would be very unfortunate for me and my family – I
have bills to pay and loved ones to take care of. My phone line is still open for anyone who has any questions.

Contrary to what said at the meeting, Michigan Voices is a non-partisan 501©3 non-for-profit organization. My role as
Deputy Director is mainly centered around staff management, staff moral, internal staff dynamics & communication,
and budgets. They work on ISSUES, not political parties or candidates.

I reviewed the Michigan Constitution before excepting the position. The Michigan Constitution has exemptions for jobs
commissioners can hold, and working for a non-partisan non for profit organization is not one of those exemptions.
There is no conflict of interest, and if however unlikely there ever were to be in the future, I would report it using our
conflict of interest form and/or recuse myself from any conflicted vote. As has been the case since Day 1, the only thing
that ever directs my choices as a member of the MICRC is the Constitution of the State of Michigan and the Constitution
of the United States of America.

There is nothing to “evaluate” and we shouldn’t let youtube comments direct what we add to the agenda or not. We are
not in the business of policing each others jobs, and I shouldn’t have to defend myself for taking a job in the non-for
profit field, a field we all now have expertise in, 1.5 years after we have completed our product. I expect us to be
disbanding relatively shortly, and cant make carrier decisions based on what may or may not happen in the future.
Talking about it at the next meeting serves nothing except to generate for negative news.

Lets not forget, when someone comes after one of us, they come after all of us. I’ll be motioning to have this topic
removed from the agenda at the start of next meeting, and hope I have the majorities support. I do hope those of you
with questions reach out to me.

Subject: Public Comments Re: Eid's Michigan Voice Position

Everyone:

Because not everyone follows the Live Chat on YouTube during our mee ngs, I have a ached the comment stream from
yesterday’s public mee ng, during which several members of the public expressed concern and cri cism with respect to
Commissioner’s Eid new posi on as the Deputy Director for the Michigan Voice. These public comments during the
mee ng were what triggered my request that the Commission evaluate the appropriateness of Commissioner’s Eid
employment rela onship with the Michigan Voice.
